Admin bails out Hungary, fixes everything – Canada attacks UK.

Day 996, 04:22 Published in USA USA by Sossu
Just as it looked that all hope was lost, Admin has successfully cancelled every harm done by excessive breaches of security, which leaded to the near destruction of Hungary as their MPP😒 got erased. 5 days later, Admins took action, returned the lost MPP😒 of Hungary and terminated the attacks on Podolia by Poland and on Slavonia, Serbia by Croatia. By now almost every mishap has been reversed, as the MPP-stack against Romania has been reinstated, illicit wars have been closed and regions gained by wrongdoing have been returned to their original owners. However, Hungary gained 4 additional MPP😒 against Poland, as Poland launched only 9 MPP😒 against themselves during the Eden attempt to wipe Hungary months ago. Currently Hungary has 13 MPP😒 in their disposal against Poland, although Poland didn’t attack Hungary’s original territories at any point during the hackings. The additional MPP😒 are relatively insignificant, but nevertheless they are not supposed to be in Hungary’s MPP-stack, as the idea was to return everything exactly as they were before the hackings.

The reversal of the Croatian attack on Serbian-owned Slavonia has puzzled many, but it was also influenced by the hackers and therefore closing it was the right call. The hacked Serbian president attacked China, who has a MPP with Croatia, thus opening a war between Serbia and Croatia via the chain reaction rule. Croatia took advantage of this free war by attacking Slavonia, and Admins rightfully closed the battle alongside with the war.

The returning of the regions to their proper owners created a funny episode as geography obviously isn’t one of the strengths of the administration team. The attempted returning of Galicia and Lodomeria, located in Ukraine, to Hungary failed miserably as there is a region disturbingly similar in name in Spain. The admins managed to return a Spanish region to Hungary, amusing many players yesterday. The shenanigan has later been fixed and Galicia has been returned to Spain while Galicia and Lodomeria is back at the hands of Hungary.

While Romania and Poland took the opportunistic way, counting that Admins would ignore the damage done by hackers to Hungary and leaving them without protection, other Eden nations decided to not take advantage of the situation at least directly. Croatia agreed with Hungary to not attack their regions, even Northwest Croatia which is not protected by Hungarian MPP😒, until the situation had cleared. Hungary has been extremely thankful for this act and in return, official Hungarian newspapers have prompted the Hungarian citizens possessing Croatian citizenships to relinquish them and obtain Hungarian passports. This is a fine example how nations formally in war with each other can still respect each other and fight with honor. The admins mysteriously delayed the successful Croatian resistance wars to expire on 23rd of July, exposing them to the threats of open citizenship, so the Serbian attempt of TO:ing Croatia was actually made possible by a bug rather than success on the battlefield. Also, the President of the United States declared USA will not directly attack nations infected by hackers, though American troops did participate to the attack on Podolia.

Romania and Poland have been infuriated by the decision, claiming that Hungary’s defeats shouldn’t be reversed when for example the battle of Prekmurje, where a certain Eden victory was reduced to dust by a DDoS attack on the final minutes of the battle, wasn’t reversed either. Romania wishes to see Hungary destroyed by any means possible, be it straightforward fighting or more cunning means. Fighting fire with fire will lead only to the destruction of the entire game. If both sides cheat excessively, on what do we exactly need the real players? When multis vote our governments, fight our wars and keep the economy running, all what real players can do is write articles about how multi’ing is despicable and wrong.

The reaction of Admins wasn’t quick (5 days is a lot in eRepublik), but at least there was a reaction. What they have hopefully learned from this event is that the community wants a zero tolerance on cheating, and from now on they might look closer on the wrongdoings done in the future. Hacking Hungary was first-page news, but I hope that from now on the admins protect every nation from wrongdoings equally, regardless of the size or the importance of nation.

Canada invades Scotland, advances deeper in to UK.

While Hungary and Serbia fought their battles in Europe, their fellow Phoenix member UK was attacked by Canada in a surprise move. Canada, who still face some opened MPP😒 from their unsuccessful war against France, launched another MPP-set against themselves by attacking Wales and Scotland without any MPP-backing. Usually wars where one nation goes against large MPP-stacks ends in a miserable failure, but the war between Canada and UK is turning out to be interesting. Due to the revised initiative rules, Canada can attack the regions of UK continuously as they border several regions of UK.

From Scotland, Canada has launched attacks on Northern Ireland and NE of England

Also the lengthened amount of time required on the battlefield is favoring Canada, and Eden in general. In V1, fighting was just pressing one button. As the outcome of the battle depended more and more on tanks, the importance of the starting and ending time started to diminish. Tanks could pop in at 4 AM for 5 minutes, hit 45 times and go back to sleep. In V2, soldiers have to stay longer on the field to make an importance. While the majority of Phoenix’s players live within three time zones, as the Western parts of Russia where the populated cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow are located and Central Europe where Serbia and Hungary are located are near each other, Eden has a larger variety of nations on different time zones. In the future, USA and Canada might have a huge importance in battles as they can fight efficiently when Europe is sleeping. Especially USA might rise to a leading role, as they possess an excellent and large mobile army. Phoenix has noted this problem and their official newspaper is offering tips for people on how to defend their nations while not being online. Phoenix players can fortify to important hexes for the night to at least slow down the American troops, but Phoenix has to find functional troops to fight on the night hours too. Brazil and Argentina are on the same time zones as Northern America, but they are far behind from the efficiency of the armies of USA and Canada. While Canada might take a beating when facing 7 Phoenix nations alone, this war might be a trailblazer for future battles and conflicts.
