Lots to talk about today, but first...

*please note - the below links do not necessarily reflect my views or opinions in the game. They are well written, coherent articles that have caught my eye or, at the very least, are articles that contain well written information about the goings on in eRepublik.*

You probably have already read this, but I had to link it.

Personally, I love the way Clint writes. Coherent thoughts and easy to read.

EZC - Testify!
Last week, Easy Company had a competition for most kills in division 2. The competition was between 4 regiments (3,4,5, and 6). I reside in the 4th, and being the competitive SOB that I am, I decided that I was going to lay down some damage. Lots of it. I had been saving bazookas and candy bars for just an event like this, and I was stoked to pull them out and show eRep what I could do.

When I got home from work, I let it rip. Did the DO, and started looking for battles where I could be of some use (and win BH's - 'cause winning BH's is da bomb). I got my first BH, then my second, my third... But I couldn't help but notice that in my friends feed, one of my regiment brothers, The Joshua Tree was wracking up BH's like a mad man. This was a good thing, because it meant 4th Regiment had a good chance of winning this competition, but there was no way I was going to come in second, this was going to be MY day! So I doubled up my efforts. Four, five, six, seven battle hero's, but it seemed like for every one that I got, JT had two. I was all, WTF? I was running out of everything, but I let it loose. Eight, nine battle hero's, and I was empty. And JT kept going. I put up nine BH's, over 500 kills, and just under 12 million influence in 2 1/2 hours. The Joshua Tree, by contrast, over 700 kills and 27 Battle Hero's, and over 32 million influence making him number one in the world (division 2).

Now, you may think I'd be a little upset, jealous even. But you'd be wrong. For starters, Regiment 4 won the competition handily (Lots of Q7 tanks - WOOT!), and secondly, it gives me great honor to be able to serve beside such an incredible soldier in such a great MU (which was also number one in the world for D2 that day). So, to all my fellow EZC brothers and sisters, to all the officers, the quartermasters, and especially JT, I give you a CURRAHEE!

Dogpyledriver
As many of my astute, regular readers may have noticed, I have changed the title of my editorial from editorial (well, duh) to Dogpyledriver, and there is a very good reason for this. As this newspaper has started to take shape, and I have begun to find my "prose" (please note: I use that term very loosely), I have noticed something about my writing. It turns out that I do not have the skill to wax poetic and soothe you, my wonderful readers and subscribers, with flowing, flowery prose. Oh no. It's more like I take a bunch of words, throw them in a blender, mix them into a concrete like paste, and then bash you over the skull with them once they've hardened. It's a talent, I know. Also, I do have a tendency to write about absolutely, positively nothing. Again, a talent. So, welcome to Dogpyledriver.

I do feel the need to make it clear though, that my intent has never been, and never will be, to educate you, Dear Reader. Sure , it may happen from time to time, but consider it a bonus, or more than likely an accident. My intention from the beginning has been to entertain you. That is why I release this paper under Social Interactions and Entertainment. Consider me the court jester, or the team mascot. If you want breaking news, or political updates, there are many people writing about those very topics with far better skills and panache than I could ever muster. Go read their papers. I know I do. Meanwhile, I'll keep trying to color inside the lines.

In the News
Didn't we do this already? Yes. Yes, we did, but I wanna talk about it for a bit. I've noticed a trend, and it's not a good one. The news is getting thin, peoples. Paper thin. Calista Flockhart thin. It appears that there are less and less of you putting out a daily, weekly, or even monthly rag. What gives? The forums, IRC, and the meta game thing is great, if you're into that sort of thing, but I love the newsies. I feel the newspapers are a more personal part of the game. It makes it feel more "real". I love nothing more (an exaggeration to be sure, but do me a favor and roll with it) than to read the papers after a long day of war. And there just aren't that many out there any more. So, what am I gonna do about it? Well, do yourself a favor and go to the next paragraph and I'll tell ya.

I am going to start sponsoring new journalists. That's right. If you, or someone you know is an aspiring journalist, and are less than three months old, I will pay for your/ their newspaper activation. I will help you with headers, editing, formatting, what ever it is that you need to put out a quality newspaper. I don't care what you write about, ewar, epolitics, ehumor, RL, I don't care. But it has to be quality writing. And it has to be in English, because I'm a simpleton and can't read anything but English and Bad English. There are obviously some other conditions, but when you contact me, I will fill you in with the details. One thing I need to make clear before I get flooded with requests is that I am an ebaby myself, so I am not rich, I can only afford to sponsor about one or two journalists per week (not to mention time constraints). So it may very well be first come first serve as we go week to week.
