Why do we play this game? A Presidential Cabinet
Oblige
Dear America,
To begin some mood music: http://youtu.be/ae7tASAkop8
My old friend, Dennis McVicker made a post in the We the People forums where he asked me the question (emphasis mine):
"What do you intend to do to address our internal/domestic issues (i.e. the return to prominence of Pfeiffer, the divisive political atmosphere, and the general individual first mentality we see expressed on a daily basis by many Americans)?
And the question really made me think.
A lot.
It was something I have been guilty of many times, if not on an individual level than on a party level or a MU level or on some other level that was anything other than America first.
And it also made me ponder: when did this happen? When did things get so bad? When did I stop having fun and start playing out of fear and spite?
NewAzazel and DrLuis have both written excellent article outlining their positions regarding our military, foreign affairs, and domestic policies were they to become CP. These were all very well written, and showed excellent though; however, I believe the most important problem facing eAmerica has nothing to do with these things - it has to do with our community.
Does the Oblige administration have plans like they do? Sure. I'll give you the bullet point version.
Foreign Affairs
★ Continue to develop relations with countries from the failed Imperium Alliance appointing Special Ambassadors to Hungary, Poland and Spain
★ Help right Circle of Trust by doubling down with our allies in that alliance - supporting them more overtly in their campaigns and asking for their support in turn
★ Americans are top notch Alliance Organizers and CoT HQ is desperate for help. It's time we've leant them some members of our Brain Trust
Military Affairs
★ A 100% revamp of the NSC. Reboot the whole thing from scratch with an emphasis on bringing all MUs to the table. Every non-PTO American MU of reasonable size will have a seat at the table for it's Commanding Officer and 2nd Commanders. Strategy will not be dictated, it will be discussed.
★ USAF will finally get the attention it deserves from an Administration that isn't looking to disband it or doesn't care about maintaining a standing National Army. Congress will finally get the results it is entitled to as MU management is tweaked to optimize usage of the budget spend.
Domestic Affairs
★ All Party Presidents have accepted Advisor Positions and I hope their successors will as well. It is my hope that if all does not go according to plan this month, Unity will become a thing of the past during my administration.
★ Interior will launch an aggressive fund raising campaign to raise currency to increase awareness of its programs
Media Affairs
★ The WHPR will be an absolute blitzkrieg and you'll see why when you read below
★ eNPR is going to start happening again
Ok, so those are some bullet points, but the real question you should be asking yourself is what do you have planned for the community? They don't, or at least that's not what they're campaigning on.
You can see part of my plan tucked away up in those bullet points. Some things seem like such small changes "inviting all MU commanders to the NSC and making sure they get proper forum and IRC masking, changing the structure of the organization so it's less top down" - what does that even mean? And, I will be honest, I am kind of a bureaucrat. I love paperwork. I love stamps. But to understand why that's an important shift, why it's a sea change, you need to know that historically "independent" MUs have had a shaky relationship with the National Security Council. They'd get invited, then booted, then invited again, but felt like they were getting yelled at most of the time, or they'd just get forgotten about. That will be over with.
Another small point - making sure all the Party Presidents have access to the Presidential Daily Briefing because they're all advisors - how did we even do anti-take over stuff before this?! Such an easy thing to do, such a minuscule change.
The Oblige Plan to improve the American Community is to start with small changes to improve communication amongst the player leadership. That's it. Start small, and then incrementally improve. This is why I am running for President.
And with that manifesto written without further procrastination I bring you your core cabinet:
Vice President: Vanek26
Chief of Staff: Israel Stevens
National Security Council Chairman: n0s3
Secretary of State: NewAzazel
Secretary of Defense: Darkmantle
Secretary of Media: Chief White Bull (George Armstrong Custer)
The rest will be announced later.
Good news though. I am still accepting applications:

P.S. Will you give me a shout?
I'm voting Oblige for President!

I am running a different kind of race.
I like all your bullet points. Some are simply old ideas brought forward again (heavy Media, renewed CoT focus, DoI fundraising/promotion), but some are very common sense proposals that we should have done some time ago (PPs as Advisors, all MU COs at the table, focus on Hun/Pol/Spa). Your cabinet is also excellent, very quality picks for CoS, SoS, SoM, & NSC who have all excelled in those areas and/or roles before.
As always, I'm hesitant of your personal angle and ulterior motives, but I still think you could be a good President again and lead an excellent month(s). When I look at some other candidates, I'm generally left deciding who to vote for by considering the cabinet members... who will be active, who will be successful, etc. When I look at you, that is covered, and the platform is actually appealing rather than a rehash of the same old slogans.
Sadly, you just cannot match the swag of Dr. Walter Bishop. It's a shame.
The Walter Bishop thing was a joke right?
Right?
Obvious sarcasm is obvious. ^ _ ~
But you have to admit, like him or not, the kid has style.
YAYAYAYAYAYYAYYYY!!!!

Nobody is going to let you have a 5th term. Hog.
Nobody is going to let you have a 1st term. (Insert weak pejorative of your choice here.)

Huh, must've been on one of your many banned accounts.
Nah, he's finally lost touch with reality completely. The delusions have taken full hold.
Thanks for your usual brilliance. As much as I don't care much for Oblige, how many times has he been CP of the US?
How many times have you, RGR, gotten elected CP of the US?
Nuff said I think.

Will USAF still get all the tax money?
Just leaving this here: http://i.imgur.com/o5CO0n0.png
All the tax money? You forget budget is controlled by Congress 😛
II. Defense
Line U2. Armed Forces: $165,000
Yes, as decided by Congress... the executive doesn't decide on the budget.

What congress? We don't have one this month. They can call themselves a "shadow congress".
That's cool. I'm in the "shadow King of Mongolia"
Hello Jon Barack Bluejacket, Shadow King of Mongolia, nice to meet you.

'What do you intend to do to address our internal/domestic issues (i.e. the return to prominence of Pfeiffer, the divisive political atmosphere, and the general individual first mentality we see expressed on a daily basis by many Americans)?'
Everything you touched on in your bullet points are political and if implemented aids one individual - YOU. The one question I wanted answered you completely ignored. Will you stand against Pfeiffer's return to prominence and his banning from the eUS Forums? All your points are meaningless if a traitor has access to everything discussed in Congress.
Also, NO to sending diplomats to Poland and Hungry. Poland screwed us over dragging their feet about joining CTRL and they refused joining Imperium. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me; if we let it happen again we are idiots. Spain, China and Australia should all receive diplomats with the aim being Brotherhood and not 'Alliancehood'....
Although I am not Speaker of the House and do not control that access list, I would be opposed to Pfeiffer being a Congressional Advisor, especially given his situation in the UK. He will not be part of the Presidential Cabinet or have Select Committee on Intelligence access during my administration.
Additionally, courting Spain requires us to court also Poland, and apparently Poland and Hungary are also a package deal. At this point I'm just exploring options- not making commitments.
Lastly, you are spot on with China and I will add them to the list. I am less excited about Australia.
★ Interior will launch an aggressive fund raising campaign to raise currency to increase awareness of its programs

Can`t we just push the DoD articles....All the DoD would need is a new banner to more clearly link the DoI programs.
DoD= American community in game.... I`d love to see a president acknowledge the DoD.(and the work the writers due)
I lost faith in the DoI when they offered moving cost only for RWs they supported and only to citizens level 29 and below, as far as I can tell they haven't spent even one CC helping anyone move; every citizens damage is important and the offer of moving cost should be for every citizen....
We spend well over 300 a day on this program, and unless you want to pay for those over 29, which would costs thousands beyond our budget, you have no right to talk there. We run on play based donations, want us to fund over level 29? Pay for it.
I would absolutely love to be able to fund everyone.
I have applied for moving cost several times with no reply. Then I read it was only for RWs sponsored by the government, RWs which the government fails to even announce.
Guess the other battles against our enemies are not important enough?
You say the DoI spends 300 CC a day, I am more interested in how much was donated?
I have donated a lot to my MU, who covers moving cost for EVERY soldier who needs help in EVERY battle; maybe the government should use some of our tax dollars to fund moving cost through the budget....
irule777 - one of the great things about launching a massive fund raiser is that it should allow us to open the program to everyone!
Drew Blood you are great at proving my point by not even talking about it. I said nothing about interior.... I talked about advertising the interior through the DoD.. the DoD that announce official orders from our gov. The DoD has not said much about fighting in RW`s in america. Independent militias to my knowledge started and supported those RW`s alone. (why the MC program did not help). The DoI does more than just have a Moving Program. And Interiors goal is involvement and retention of new players. (with 0 gov budget and only private donations keep is going). Our goal is to get players into other loving communities than the DoI`s welcoming arms.
The problem with your idea is that the DoD is never seen, the candidates for PotUS can afford over 3000 votes for their respective campaign articles; but not one credit to get the government orders out...
