[WTP] Finding the way to the ballot

Day 2,408, 12:58 Published in USA USA by The Mike

Servos!

the role of the congressmen is very often underestimated; or overestimated, respectfully. You can get very different feedback in relation to what it is to be a congressman, depending on the point of view. The current article will look at newer players' PoV.

If you have recently (last month, two or three) joined the game, you wouldn't be fully exposed to the full depth of the players' relations. The first step usually is to get involved in your Military Unit, or in your Political Party. Becoming a President is out of question, so Congress is the main achievable goal. But simply saying to the party president that you'd like to get in congress, wouldn't necessarily work out in your favour 😃 So, how does one get into congress for the first time?

First, it depends on the political party you are a member of. In some, it is the party president's decision on how to order the people on the ballot. In others, it is a group of people (party president council) that meet that decision. Another way is via primaries. This is how we, in We The People, do it. Primaries are off-site elections, which only approved party members are allowed to cast their vote on. In WTP's edition you can vote for up to three people who would receive three, two or one points, respectfully on how you order them. In the end of the voting, those with the most points get to be higher on the ballot 😁

The next logical question would be: "How does one secure more points on the primaries?" Well, it could be a bit tricky, but with the right approach one may even win the primaries with the first try 😛 I, for one, was second, some votes behind Oblige, in my very first participation in WTP primaries some 15 months ago. The fundamental part is that it is other people that have to vote for you, which is why WTP Leadership always advises candidates to campaign. The mandatory article to be published prior to each congress elections isn't only to promote the party, but to help you, as a candidate for the WTP congressional ballot, to do better on the primaries.

But simply writing an article, publishing it and shouting once or twice ain't be enough. Unless there are less candidates than the amount of congressmen that get elected from WTP 😃 So, what more can one do? Being present on the WTP shout feed helps a lot. This is how Franklin Stone gets elected regularly, for example. Another way, which I am to advertise with the current article, is to get a job in the party leadership. Being involved in the party leadership would directly suppose constant contact with both party members and party leaders. This opens opportunities for more meaningful shouting on the party wall (which increases your popularity, hence chances to get more points in primaries) and also for promotions. Such opportunities come often afterwards. Just like the Media Mogul achievements, it is the first one that is the hardest 😛

So, what can we do within the party? The Party President isn't the only one who is involved in party affairs. There is a group of more than ten people helping out our party president. The tasks are various - media, recruitment, retention, inter-party relations and team management:
~ Retention Director is responsible for communicating with players who have recently joined the party and conducting other retention programs
~ The Political Actions Committee has the heavy task to prepare the party for elections: open nominations on the party forum space, start the primaries and communicate with the candidates. A member of the PAC is usually the party whip in congress as well.
~ The Recruitment team is taking care of recruitment - communicating to players outside the party and persuading them to join us 😁
~ Media Director publishes the WeRepublic newspaper. Sadly, Tanishq has given up on the task due to RL, so there is a thing to do ^_~ It isn't only the "Media Director" working on it, of course, other people are meant to contribute, just like for the WHPR 🙂 🙂

So, don't wait, join WTP (if you haven't yet 😛) and jump on board to help leading THE PARTY OF THE PEOPLE

WE THE PEOPLE
FROM THE PEOPLE
FOR THE PEOPLE

~Finding the way to the ballot won't be an issue for you at all ^_~
And to finish the article, I'll just say: Vote for WE the PEOPLE on June, 25th \o/
