[TUP] Reflections and Thank You

Day 1,210, 00:03 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by The Unity Party

With this month’s Party President Election coming up very soon, it is time to reflect on the events of this month. The Unity Party has overcome many challenges which could have never been anticipated. We had a very bizarre Congress Election, and the taste of Mr Woldy brownies with the successful landslide victory in the Prime Minister Election. During the last month we have also witnessed war, alliance changes, a fizzled rebellion, ragequits, crazy economics and real life disasters. Indeed it has been an extremely busy 28 days, and now it my time to bow out of the Party Presidency of the Unity Party. I would like to thank everyone for their help in the last month; I could not have done this without you.

First, let’s discuss the Congress Elections and the events that led up to it. Then Prime Minister Jhorlin had coordinated a deal with Serbia that would affect the regions we had during Congress Election Day. East Midlands and East of England were planned to be under Serbian occupation, meaning 3 people per region and 10 wildcards. He told the Party Presidents of the top 5 parties to plan for that scenario. So that’s what I did. Problem was, he was wrong. It was East of England and Yorkshire & Humberside that we out, with Y&H being lost on the 24th. What does this mean? Everything was screwed up and unpredicatable. No one would have been able to guess we would end up with 34 Members of Parliament, compared to the usual 40. Needless to say, less positions available meant each party will have less in Parliament, and the layout of the election made it tougher for parties to gain a high percentage. Once the dust settled, we had a modest 33% of seats. Considering the options available, this was the best outcome one could expect. Oh yeah, there is one thing that I’m missing out. The messaging system was completely destroyed, resulting in compromises in communication, which is vital to elections. After spending much more hours and a lot of stress and frustration, I was able to manage to get around all these problems. But seriously, even though this is just a virtual game, it is real stress. But don’t worry, things will get better.

Our new form of messaging.

After Congress Elections, Prime Minister Elections were just around the corner. Being the end of February, there were fewer days to get everything done. Just like in December 2009, when I was Party President, Mr Woldy ran for the position. Meanwhile, Artela was not able to run, making this a runaway election. Why couldn’t Artela run? Blame jamesw. With the messaging still screwed up, campaigning would be tough. But this lucky break enabled Woldy to get elected with virtually no campaigning. But there were those cool avatars some of us had on the forums, in which some people have forgotten to remove. Anyway, needless to say, Woldy won, making this his 5th term as Prime Minister, a record in the eUK.

Mission Accomplished.

As always, the schemes TUP provides have been running all month long, and shall continue to in the future. Our aim is to help everyone achieve their goals, whether they are old and experienced or new and poor. I thought that having ran twice before over a year ago, running for a third term would be easy. But unforeseen challenges have always kept me on my feet. In reflection, these challenges to keep things refreshing and new, no matter how stressful they may seem. Will I run for Party President again? Perhaps, but defiantly not for another year. I will, as always, remain active in this party as we pursue a better future for all. I’ve had my time, and it’s time for someone else to take charge. So be sure to vote this 15th for our new Party President. We do have a candidate who will be on the ballot for the election, who I am confident will be able to lead this party. Again, thanks for giving me this opportunity to run this great party, and for all the support you have provided, but now it is time to move on.
