[The President] One Week Down

Hey there! Talon here, president of this realm, such as it is at the moment. I’m writing this today to give you a bit of insight into this first week I’ve been at the helm, and to ask for everyone’s help going forward too- it’s always appreciated! Special thanks go to Betafoxtrot for summarising some of the key points for my forum announcements, forming a couple of the sections below.

Military Matters:

The military has had a good start to the month. This week we have released an article on the new eUK Military and moving people around companies so that they're in the places they should be- we have everyone working for Jamesw now, gaining 20 Q5 weapons per day as their supply, as that’s what they produce with him. If you want to join up, message Greatmoff! We've also been supplying citizens and other citizens from ONE countries the last few days, trying to gain a foothold in our homeland. That hasn’t worked out quite as well, and we’ve fluctuated between having regions and being wiped.

If it wasn’t clear before, it should be clear to everyone now that the solution to our problems does not begin with military might (especially as we don’t seem to have any!)



Here’s the latest MoD report from Greatmoff:


Things have been progressing well within the Ministry of Defence. The Military Reform is now in full swing with well over half the UKSF now in place in their new jobs, all that is left now is to move over the last few. Over the next few days/weeks we’ll also be looking for promising players to take a more advanced role and help out with the running of the new Military. Applications are still open for anyone who wants to join. Just message the MoD (Greatmoff) requesting to join, and stating if you are registered on the forums and irc.

Today saw some positive action on the Military front as well. We struck at Canada on two fronts; both by a MPP attack in the North East of England and by a Resistance War in the East Midlands winning both. By doing so we have dealt a blow and moved towards the removal of Canada from the United Kingdom’s soil. We successfully cut off and removed Canada’s access to British Oil. Overall it was a resounding success.

Thanks goes to our National Military as well as all the other Military Units for their support and organisation today. We’d also like to thank all our allies who fought for us and our diligent Military suppliers who between them ensured supplies were given out throughout 5-6 mini battles. This includes (but isn’t limited too) our MoD Greatmoff both our dMoDs Rodney Mckay and Count Drakula our MoFA Mittekeumis, Cabinet Advisor Kravenn, Talon Karrde (Forgotten what he does) and last but not least MetalMickey999 and Justice Boomticket.

A very very special thanks (and a beer) goes to Rylde. He personally tanked, paid gold for others to do millions and supplied 3k Q6 weapons to the eUk for our honourable cause. It is especially noteworthy as he is a former eCanadian who has fought against us in the past. It is great to finally be fighting on the same side as him. (Fritzhill another Canadian also fought for the eUk and for great justice).

Foreign Affairs:

We've released a couple of articles which you can read here and here.

I’ve been really impressed at how active and useful the MoFA has been this month- Mitte has assembled a great team, they’re active, they’re helpful, and the ministry is exactly as I want it. Top stuff!





Domestics:

We've released what we're doing within the Ministry of Home Affairs as you can read here and have started running a Prime Minister's question time which you can find all about here. Plans are also in place to resurrect a couple of initiatives, and so the NNA is back, along with their own awards; The Horices! Red vs Blue is in full swing, though one team almost fled to Canada, and the Blue team is winning. To find out what Red vs Blue is, read about it here.

As promised in my manifesto, the MoHA is also having a go at recruiting new players to the game. It’s had some success with this, having been mass messaging on other game sites. It’s not really impacted our population much, but has brought a few new players it- every one we recruit is well worth it!

Oh, hello. Didn't even see you sneak into my office.

Well, as long as you're here, I'll tell you what is going on in the MoHA.

This week we've continued with the energetic approach we had last week when we began our projects. While incurring some drama which, to be frank, is good (since it's neither political or military, so it doesn't really affect us in game), it has peaked a lot of interest. Even Woldy has managed to climb off the rocker he has been sleeping in for months to partake, which is pretty cool. It's nice to see him up and at it again. We'll continue with the festivities of Red v Blue through the coming weeks, until the 27th when the points tally, and we decide which team actually won. From a Government's perspective it isn't really important which team wins, though, because of the interest the game has generated. It has people interested in actually participating, I just hope they maintain their level through the month.

Inside the MoHA, we're working on a few things. We'll announce the categories for our new Monthly Horice awards on Thursday. Some are silly, some are serious, none of them matter beyond a little recognition that the players who won them exist and that they get noticed (for better or worse). We're also working on a list of terms, acronyms, and jargon that you might find here around the eUK so we can make a fancy new wiki page to direct our new players to. I hope to have that done in about a week and a half so we make sure we can find everything possible and add it to the list.

We'll be holding Government Q&A tomorrow (PMQ's) at 7 PM GMT (1100 Erepublik time) in #mentoring for those who want to attend. Feel free to ask questions to Talon or any of the Ministers present, or you can send your question to me and I can ask it anonymously. Anyone who trolls or asks stupid questions will be ignored.

So, yeah. We've been busy, and the crew this month has been awesome (from FNG's to our vets). I'm impressed with the energy they've put into this term thus far, and hope to see many of them for a long time in other roles, including the Ministerial role itself (or higher 😛).

My government advisors have held their second meeting tonight, here is a summary of what was discusse😛

Topics:
1)Import Tax: The general consensus was to keep the current higher tax on WRMs, but to reduce the import tax on all others.
2)Congress Military Strategy: No consensus, but should diplomacy fail we broke it down to 2 options:
-A) CENSORED
-😎 CENSORED
3)Construction/Treasury Bonds: Appleby raised the suggestion of Treasury bonds as a step up from war bonds in order to get money. Appleby will be setting up a trial of sorts, and we'll review the progress in the next meeting and give approval then.

In Conclusion

I’m pleased with my first week at the helm. I have a lot of hard work ahead, in improving all aspects of the nation, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.
