Military Reform: Once more unto the breech!

ONCE MORE UNTO THE BREECH!

Ladies and Gentlemen.

This is a message from your friendly (?) neighbourhood MoD.

As many of you will already know from our new President’s Military manifesto there are some big changes planned within the military for this month. Myself and Talon have been discussing the issue of the military recently and are both in agreement that it leaves much to be desired. For this reason we’ve decided on a plan for Military reform (huuzah!)

We aim to get the new National Military started up immediately.

What are our aims?

The aim of the reform is to transform it from its current elitist system into a significantly more inclusive one. Speaking as someone who didn’t agree with it’s dissolution at the time I'm pleased to announce that we are re-opening the Armed forces.

We currently have the facilities to supply up to 100 soldiers for now. The aim is to maximise our influence, make sure our influence is used as productively as possible, and to make young players feel welcome within the national community (rather than just an independent MU or party) and to help them progress as soldiers.

How will this work?

The new armed forces will be run from the same Military Unit that the current UKSFs uses. However there will be significant changes. To join the UK Military there are several requirements. I am pleased to announce however that Strength and or Influence per hit is not one of them.
To join the UK Military you must
*Register and join the eUk Military’s IRC channel (#euk.military) help will be provided for setting this up.
*Be able to join the UKSF MU. (The reason for this is so we can easily convey orders and co-ordinate the armed force).
Please note that temporary exceptions can be made for the last requirement in the case of British subjects who are currently without UK citizenship.

How will supply work?

Daily supply will be your production from your military job. No more no less. For example if you have a job in a Q5 weapons company and you produce 16 Q5 weapons one day your supply will be 16 Q5 weapons (Supply is always subject to a one day supply meaning you are supplied according to if you worked yesterday).

What about opportunities for advancement within the Military?

This is a big issue for me personally. When i first joined erepublik one of the first things i did was join the eUk military. At the time it was the original government run Royal Navy. This was the driving force in my sticking with the game. As i wasn’t politically motivated, and as it took a long time for me to get anywhere economically the main feature for me was the Military. For this reason i feel that as it was in the past it is important to give the opportunity for promotion within the military.

The most active and dedicated players will be offered promotions and given the opportunity to get more involved in the running of their military. This will give people hands on experience which will hopefully help to educate the next generation of MoDs.

What about strikes?

The old system of striking at a set time each day was becoming less successful. Because it was not striking according to need the decision was made for cost based reasons to change strike supplies to Q5s. Combined with low turnout this led to the strikes being cancelled all together towards the end of last month.

So how are strikes different now?

Now strikes will be according to need rather than at set times. Once or twice a day we will strike for ourselves and or our allies. Both Q5 and Q6 weapons will be supplied with their distribution based on how many people are available for the strike, your strength and how important the battle is. Strikes will continue to be available to all eUk citizens and subjects and for this reason it is important to join #euk.military when on irc.
