[MoHa] Wars and Fighting for Beginners

Day 701, 07:36 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office

Following last weeks guide to wellness we thought a little look at fighting wouldn't be a bad thing to do.

As with last week, we have taken an original article by Mr Woldy and given it a fresh going over.

Wars

How do they start?

A country president can Declare war, and Congress vote on it. It Costs 200 gold, plus an amount equal too 10% of the number of citizens able to fight in the country. (lvl 5+).

Alternatively, wars can be opened when a Mutual Protection Pact (MPP) is triggered. Let’s say you have 3 countries, A, B, and C. If A and B have an MPP with each other then they are considered allies.

If country C attacked one of Country A’s Original Regions then a war would open between country B and C, this is a triggered MPP. Country B can then help country A defend its regions.

Resistance Wars

When a region is occupied by a country the citizens can start a resistance war. Effectively a war to liberate the region return control over it to the original owner. They cost 25 gold to start plus another 0.25 gold for every citizen in the region. During a RW, citizens from either side can choose to fight for the defenders, or the resisitance. The Defenders build up the defensive points of the wall, and the resisitance take points away. After 24 hours, if the Resistance army have gotten the defensive points of the wall below 0, the region returns to its original owner.

MPP’s

MPP’s can be proposed by the Prime Minister (CP). MPP’s cost 60 gold, 30 is paid by both countries. Congress in both the Countries it is proposed between votes on it. If in both countries it passes, the MPP takes effect for 30 days. Before they run out they can be renewed, which again costs 30 gold for each country.

If a Country has an MPP with someone, but attack another Country who has an MPP with them also, that MPP becomes void. For Example;
Country A has an MPP with B and C. Country B attacks C, and the MPP between country A and B is therefore cancelled.

Battles

When a war is open, the Country president of either country involved in that war can attack a region of the country it is at war with. The region must share a border with the attacking country. Battles cost 50 gold to start, plus an amount equal too 25% of the region that is being attacked population.

Taking Part

If a Country we have an MPP with has one of it’s regions attacked, we can take part in defending that region from the attack. Alternatively, if we attack someone else’s region, we can also take part.

Victory!.. or defeat..

Battles last for 24 hours. Over that period of time, soldiers from both sides fight. Defenders add to “the wall” and attackers take damage away from “the wall”. If after the 24 hours, the attackers have gotten the wall down to 0 or lower, they will conquer the region. If however, the defenders have managed to maintain the wall, they will have successfully defended the region.

If the Region has a defense system, it adds 10% per quality of the DS to the wall.

When a region is conquered, any defense system and Hospital is destroyed. Congressmen, Party Presidents, Country presidents, and any running candidates are moved out of the region to the defending countries capital. If the Capital is taken then the region with the highest population becomes the defending countries new capital.

When a region is taken over, an amount of gold is taken from the defending countries treasury, and all citizens in that region become members of the new occupying country.

Fighting

Once you reach level 2, you can begin training. This raises your strength. (Strength, wellness, rank, and weapon quality are used to calculate how much damage you do when fighting.) As with working and healing, you can only train once a day.

Then, when you hit level 5, you can take part in battles. As stated, if you are the citizen of the attacking or defending country, or a citizen of a country with an MPP with the defenders, you can fight.

In order to fight, you must have at least 40 wellness, (generally below 70 is considered low). Every time you fight, your wellness drops by 10. This is why it is important not to fight too many times. As the Guide to Wellness says only fight the same number of times as the Q of your hospital. If your wellness isn’t above 90, fight once, then heal and do not fight again until the next day.

Every time you fight, you gain 2 experience points.
The Damage you do adds up and contributes towards you increasing in rank. The higher quality your weapon, the more damage you do, but at the early stages it doesn’t make much of a difference, for example, I still use mostly Q1’s.

The UK has a great organized military, you can apply for the Royal Guards or preferably the Royal Navy on the military hub.
The Hub

By joining the navy, you are moved to battles in other countries and supplied to fight for the UK. The Royal Guards is predominately for people like PP’s and Congressmen who cannot move abroad because their position won’t allow it. They stay at home and fight defensive battles.

Now then as a follow on to last weeks interview with Mr Woldy, we asked our roving reporter, Graham Fortune, to go out there and find us a Gifting Director. He found Indiekid and this is the result

What originally attracted you to erepublik?

Originally I was invited by a friend waaay back in November of last year, who described it as a mix of politics and military. I was instantly drawn in because I follow politics irl, and it just spiralled from then on. I found the forums on my second day and I was elected to congress within a month.

Did you encounter any specific difficulties early on, how did you resolve them, and what help (if any) did you receive?

It may seem stupid, but the main problem when I started out was getting enough EP to run for congress Fortunately French Toast (The ATLANTIS invasion of France) sprung up and I remember constantly fighting down to as low as 30 to get enough EP to run for congress on Christmas Day. I just managed it and was elected with just over 50% of the vote.

What would you consider to be the particular milestones of your time on erepublik, leading up to you becoming Gifting Director?

Well I've served in congress on and off (twice in different countries) and I feel that and serving in the military branches has provided me with ample experience and knowledge about the game. I first came into gifting by chance during Sara Droz's PM Questions on irc. I pointed out that it would be a massive task to close down the NHS and transfer all the money/gifts back to the BoE and then hand over org control to the military. I was appointed MoH (The last) in her cabinet but in the end I didn't really do much. A few months later I was appointed the gifting director but was straight away sacked for a joke article about the government PTO.

I was then re appointed in Hassan's term but due to a slight hiccup in which I lost control of the org that I was sharing with the military I ended up owing them 40g. Gifting then kinda died for a bit but now it's been brought back and it's better than ever!

Could you describe the main benefits of your Gifting work?

Basically it allows new citizens to get a (one off) wellness boost allowing them to get over 40 wellness. This means they can fight once and gain a massive wellness boost from the hospital.

+ editor: If you need a one off wellness boost then please message the British Gifting Hub +

What advice would you give to new citizens just starting out?

Getting on the forums and irc are very important. It gets you known and lets you join the community/military/get involved in politics. Also, don't get put off by older players. Listen to what they have to say, but don't listen to malicious comments

And that is that, next week....something else.

Don't forget to check out and subsribe to these government papers to keep up to date with country's goings on:
