Hmm. Had a good time reading the many articles Hungarian media and the whole two articles of Austrian media. There are 5000 eHungarians now and about 1250 eAustrians and eGermans put together. The Hungarians put up a very fair proposal and you rejected it because you don't want to give up any territory. Now you have about 5000 eHungarians, that went from seeing you as a friend to an enemy in about a day. Good Luck with that in the long run.

You can easily sqeeze 8483904839048239 people into a single region withot any problems, this is NOT the real world.
Its no difference in this game whether a country has 1 region or 200 (except for 200 looking more impressive).....so stop trying to make people believe Hungary is in need of land, you are not.

Margins are higher in manufactured goods than in raw materials.
Better IMPORT raw materials and produce and EXPORT manufactured goods, than trying to kinda do both.

Your economists have obviously never heard of "comparative advantage" or the "dutch disease". The former is TWO HUNDRED year old knowledge, so either they are not even economists, or they still need to catch up on alot happening in the last few centuries.

Sorry, this wasnt supposed to be a rant, but I am increasingly disbelieved about how much people claim to know about economics although they have no education in it whatsoever. Although most people would never tell their doc how exactly to remove their appendix, funnily everyone kinda seems to think they know how the economy works.

Wow lots of rage over a game. Once again let me try and make my point. I am only one of 5000. Whether the perceived slight is valid or not is not the point. There are now 1000's of Hungarians who want Austria's head. Someone is getting your territory. A independent Austria is out of the question. For the most part your country is a bunch of carpetbaggers who are not even Austrians.

The question is whether aggravating Hungary was a smart move in the long run or not. The Hungarians want to bust out of their two regions because that's the whole point of the game. And Austria and Germany is turning the popular opinion in Hungary against them. So it really has nothing to with the somewhat academic argument over whether Hungary is better off importing grain or moving into a High Grain region. The point is in the long run is it going to be beneficial to start a war or not.

Your penis envy style comments are actually indicative of exactly what is going on. You are a country with 290 people. You can't even keep control of your Congress. You are being backed up by a country of 1000. The facts on the ground are that Hungary could probably steamroll both of you. Would it make sense? Probably not. Would it be better to recognize the demands of a growing Hungary and compromise. Sure it would be. But instead you are leveling juvenile slurs and pontificating economic theory, when what really matters is what the population in Hungary is going to do. They are mad at you and while the reaction in my opinion might be pretty destructive for Hungary its going to be worse for you.

You are actually right in several ways.

-A game shouldn't upset anyone.
-An academic argument is really unnecessary.

If 1000 people want to start holding grudges because they feel they deserve something they have no rights to, then quite frankly, these 1000 people are not worthy to be my friends.
If they chose to hate me for that, so be it.

Both eGermany and eAustria have pledged to support eHungary's quest to regain their regions from eRomania. If those 1000 Hungarians dont wish our friendship anymore, then I extend my best wishes to them to get their regions back on their own.

You are right that, from a pragmatic point of view, Austria might be better off to just give in to the blackmails and threats coming from their eastern neighbor....unfortunately i am a man of principle.
I would alot prefer if the threats, greed and blackmailing coming out of eHungary stops....because thats the root of all problems, nothing else.

We will not allow Germany to own an other high grain region. That will be ours. If you don't want it - then we will take Germany as well. We have the power to do this you know it very well.

It remains to be seen who is right about what you say, because as I said the perception is exactly the opposite in Hungary so what really matters here is who the allies see as being more strategically important to them down the road. Hungary may in fact find itself alone, but the opposite may also come about. Like I said I am too new to really know but thats why I am hooked on this game already.
And let me clarify, as far as me personally I think the Union between Austria and Germany with Hungary getting two territories was a great idea and would have helped everyone. Am I personally responsible for all this. 🙂 Unlikely as I have only been around for three weeks. Is the obstinance of th eGermam side going to wreck it for everyone. I am pretty sure it is.

As said, if many eHungarians think that you have been treated unfairly or bad, then I am terribly sorry you feel that way....but neither do I grasp what these feelings are based on, nor do I think the hostile behaviour is justified.

Austria neither is your belonging, nor do you actually need it.
Austria belongs to their inhabitants and they have all the rights to with it whatever they want. (and i am not talking of these Hungarian conquerers that tried to take over congress, i am talking about the original eAustrians).

You were right that owning a region with rich in raw materials or build up a business there and send home the materials is practically the same thing. I have 2 companies in an org (MOL Holding http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization/1327911) and exactly doing this between Indonesia (rich oil) and Hungary (cheap working power)
Also I definitely don't agree with warmonger politics represented by some of my fellow Hungarians in Austria.

But.
Many of the Hungarian people feels offended that Germany did not accept the first draft of the contract that Hungary would have 'rent' Burgenland for a specified period whereas our own high grain regions would be liberated.

This means that in the eye of my people Germany, despite of already owning a high grain region, completely does not care about the interest of eHungary at all and plays an 'everything or nothing' game.
This is all not rational I agree but Germany should also respect the sensitivity of its ally as well.

I really afraid that the warmongers will seize the presidency in the next weeks and will start a war around us.
A weakened Hungary and Germany would be the best dream of Romania and other warmonger countries.

I think if I understand the math right you won this battle, I don't know if you can read Hungarian but you might want to check out the Media there. The point I am making is not my personal opinion, rather my analysis of the Hungarian internal political position and what affect that might have. Since there are these thousands of new kids crying for blood, like I said right or wrong, because at the end of the day even democracy is just law of the jungle ... the next leaders of Hungary are going to be pretty much anyone who has a platform of war to the west.

I continue to say that that might not be the wisest option for all involved and I continue to say that I think it was German/Austrian rejection of our need (real or perceived doesn't matter) for a High Grain region that caused the wave.

I am sure Hungary will get their chance to fill their lust for blood quite soon with Romania. As for the grain issue, I keep finding it interesting how people demand that they have a high grain region.

If you have complaints about your regional resources, your very welcome to ask the admin staff to see if there is anything they can do to ease your 'pain'. Otherwise you can always trade for grain, in fact trading will do you a lot of good. Food companies will develop and relations will emerge.
