[TUP] We are still Here!, War and Tax Decrease?
Bohemond4
First of all, I would like to apologise for the lateness of this article. I have actually been terribly busy in real life (no joke!) doing Stage Management for a show down with the local Theatre Group. Anyway, that’s enough of my ramblings and excuses for absent articles!
Well done to BigAnt for winning the CP election, a fight well fought. I would like to point out, however, that we are still here and we are not going anywhere. We will fight for the Progression of the eUK in all areas with experience and passion. We also hope that BigAnt will continue on the excellent policies started by his predecessor, Talon Karrde who it must be acknowledged did a stellar job these past two months.
So we have a war! A shared electoral platform was the promise of a war, which is nice to see. I would like to thank Talon Karrde and Count Drakula for the arrangement of this war. Very nice, tpo work gentlemen!
Now, onto some serious pre-election stuff. Top of the current agenda is BigAnts proposed tax cuts to 1% tax. Let’s look at this, shall we. Currently, we make around enough money to just about cover everything we have, without actually putting anything in the bank. This includes Call to Arms and our MPP’s, which we need to have to survive.
There has been proposed cuts to ‘A Call to Arms’ due to the high cost, something that is reasonable as we are running a deficit on them, however, I feel that the proposed changes lack the sort of caring and benefit that we have seen over the past month and a half for your average player. Now, I recognise this cost, hence I think we could realistically lower the amount of tanks given, or even Q6’s used instead of the Q7.
To sum up, The Unity Party does not think the tax cuts will have a benefit to the eUK citizen that outweighs the benefits the nation as a whole will receive. Yes, you will gain a tiny bit extra, maybe one pound, but as a whole the nation will benefit more from keeping them where they are. Higher reserves will protect our nation in the future and keep us far more secure than dropping taxes will.
This article was brought to you by The Unity Party. Do you like what we are doing? If so, hurry up and join TUP today! It is never too late to get involved with what we are doing!
These articles here are also worth a read!

Voted and Unity is strength
Unity is Strength!
Agreed and voted \o/
Voted!
If you didn't like the mooted tax cuts then why didn't you campaign against them?
Over 50% of the eUK players voted for BA's program so how can TUP reconcile their view on taxes with the democratic mandate BA got for changing them?
BigAnt has 1 vote and no ability to make proposals on tax cuts, congress has the ability to make proposals and 40 votes. People didn't vote for him to do something he cannot do. We have the mandate, not him. His vCPs costings require us to drop 4 MPPs and still would have us making a loss after tax cuts.
Personally I assumed the plans were a cheap ploy to get votes, and would be dropped as soon as he came in, as happened last time with the Q7s.
The parties that backed him for CP have 19 votes (so 20 with his vote), those that 'opposed' his run have 16.
The remainder and thus the swing vote is the ESO five!
Opposing a candidate that got over 50% of the popular vote would mean they'd have to vocalise a very strong argument to join the 'We hate BA' brigade in order to avoid accusations of ignoring a free, democratic vote.
The situation is also much changed from last time he was CP.
He crept in with 33% of the vote against the 2 largest parties and could only count on a congress vote of 3 to 7 initially and 14-26 later in the term.
Now he's impeachment proof unless he steals, goes bonkers, inactive or requests it and can therefore focus on doing a good job and not have to worry about trying to stay in office by trying to please TUP and UKPP simulataneously.
Its sad that if New Era or UKPP were opposing a TUP CP's plans through Congress TUP would be kicking up a stink. Its this negativity and opposition to democracy thats cost you dear in Congress, the party rankings and in the CP elections.
There is only so far you can go with PTO/wiped scaremongering but its sad to see opposing a CP with a mandate is this months policy with you guys.
Sour grapes.
Its not our idea so we will block it, at least until the next congress election anyways
apparently we are no longer allowed to come up with our own policies. so much for your fabled desire for democracy.
Ya know, I think your the ones that you accused us of being...
No policies from different parties is win/win for the electorate. What is wrong is throwing obstacles deliberately in the way of an elected CP because you lost the election. I dont remember any of Iain Keers or Talons Manifesto having so much butthurt about ''how it is Congress' decision and not the CP's''
Have policies but don't oppose for the sake of being bad losers as you have done with previous impeachment movements against CP's when you have lost elections.
TUP have argued several times that they could not see a tax cut working where have you guys been?.
Alfa you forgot the bit where someone pretends to be BA and makes fake logs that could happen,
Apologies. I mean ''No, Policies from....etc etc'' Damn commas.
Anyway, yes TUP have argued their point...and the country said they were wrong. So is it right for TUP to now say the country was wrong?
When did the country say they were wrong?
When the other guy got over half the popular vote perhaps?
No that just means half the population wanted Big Ant to run the country it didnt mean they agreed on every single policy he made. You do know how elections work right? you vote for the person that you more align with as if people only voted for people they totally agreed with no one would vote for anybody but themselves.
I would like to see a referendum on the subject then we would have the true view of the country
No, you vote for the candidate best suiting your in game beliefs...if you vote on party lines only then thats a sad state of your democratic beliefs.
Over half the country voted Big Ant and his manifesto...can you imagine if New Era/UKPP called for a referendum on the TW with Belgium if CD had won? No, because we wouldn't be that childish in defeat.
Party before country sadly replaces strength in Unity
you really didnt get what i said did you Hugh people vote for the candidate who best suits your views.I didnt even mention parties like i voted for CD because i liked more of his policies than BigAnts doesn't mean i agreed with CD on all his policies.
Because if this was true more elections both in erep and real life would have alot lower vote turn out because people wouldn't vote for anybody because they dont fully agree with them.
Childish in defeat? you guys really need to get over this everybody who isn't with us is in some sort of TUP conspiracy.
I wouldn't be fussed if both TUP and New Era disappeared over night but as a member of the public i would like to see an referendum on the subject. To be honest as an arms dealer i would make a better profit if taxes went down but i feel it would be bad for the country in the long run.
So eUK before stupid party politics and personal gain but that is just me.
No at elections you vote candidates with manifesto's that you want in...you can't pick and hoose and say I like A, C, and D but want a referendum on B. The idea of CP elections is to mirror real life PM elections and try saying that on the door step...you'll be laughed at. You vote the whole manifesto or nothing at all.
And yes, they are being childish. Go see the forums and how disruptive they are trying to be
If enough people make a petition you can get a referendum on pretty much anything.Maybe i should make a petition hmm if we are mirroring real life.
No i believe they are being childish i just thought you aimed that at me i just wanted a better and more honest picture of what the public want on this subject
As i haven't been defeated as i am not normally too fussed about how elections turn out.
