Media Mogul [Plato Foundation Project Submission]
MasonGreenwood
since the beginning of this project its main purpose has been to nurture a positive environment amidst the players. To predispose them to be creative and express themselves rather than being
just another avatar on the battlefield.
The game strives to be a reflection of the real world. It has many features that remind us of it – a business world, a political scene, a war module etc.
But there is one thing that has always fascinated me about the game.
The way it brings together all kinds of people.
Here I’ve made many friends that would probably last a lifetime. I believe that the very thing that makes the game so vivid and interesting, the thing that keeps me here every day, are the people.
The sometimes absurd and yet always astounding community that we have here.
In this line of thinking, I would like to present an idea on how to make the best of the so many different points of view here, the broad knowledge that the players have and of course – their immense talent.
Speaking of immense talent, I would like to make a lyrical deviation.
For a quite some time now, there has been a self-organized competition for creative writing in the eBulgarian community. The competition was named “Мастиленият лабиринт“ („The Ink Labyrinth”).
It was initially started by Morrpheus and it shortly turned into a tradition. People would team up and work together on creative writing on a given topic. Then their works would compete against each other. The community votes and decides which work deserves to win the round. After a few rounds – there is a winning team (there have always been prizes, yet the biggest one has always been people’s admiration).
I must assure you, the writing has always been on a very high level. The passion of the participants has guided them towards creating fantastic content but most importantly – it created a bond between them. These people remained very good friends. In fact one of the teams decided to take part in a real life fairy tale contest. Needless to say, they put their hearts and souls into it, competed with over more than 140 contestants, some of whom professional writers. The results are evident:
First Place award to Sollam and friends from “The Ink Labyrinth” for their fairy tale “Forest the fairy and her sisters – Music and Poetry” in the first edition of the national fairy tale contest.
A bright example of how eRepublik brings people together, regardless of the distance between them.
Sollam lives in Germany, yet has a tangible connection to Bulgaria which to some extent is because of the game. Our friends from eRepublik attended the ceremony and claimed the prize. Here are some pictures:
As someone who is well aware of the community’s potential while also being a keen writer myself, I would be more than glad if more of our eRepublik friends dared to write, hence I make an invitation to the creative people among us.
Let us set up a place to exchange ideas, share experience, to brainstorm ourselves, to ask questions and find the right answers.. and for everything related to creativity and art.
Let us meet in the game, hopefully in real life as well (if we had not yet) and host a virtual home for all the artists in the game.
In order to do so, we apply for sponsorship from Plato.
We demand 1000 gold in order to stimulate people to write and cooperate.
Graphic designers are also going to be needed. The explicit content is going to be regulary published in a newspaper.
*Should the project get granted sponsorship, we ask the gold to be transfered to Sasha Vladimirovna, the main executive of the project.
Moreover I would like to note that our previous project “The Weekly Journal” had a tremendous success:
