Two Years

Day 1,178, 18:32 Published in USA USA by ligtreb

As of today, I've been playing this game for two years.

Thank you.

The reason I keep playing this game after all this time is all of you -- you are what makes this game interesting. Your comments, your articles, your forum posts, your shouts, your IRC chatting, that's the reason I'm still here. It's definitely not clicking buttons or running for Congress or fighting daily. This is a social strategy game, and the only reason why most of us are here is the social part.

I've been very fortunate because of all the entertainment and feedback you have given me over the years. It's you guys, not the admins or the creators of the game, that provide me with a distraction in my life, something to keep me engaged. Thank you.

I have one request to those who are reading this:

Support our media.

With the prevalence of org-voting, it's harder than ever for newer writers to break through. One of the biggest thrills I've had in this game was becoming a media mogul, and there are dozens of people in this country who are worthy of that honor in this country.

It's more important now than ever that you subscribe to the good newspapers, so you can keep track of them while they have difficulty getting into the Top 5.

Here are 10 good newspapers that don't have a media mogul yet that I recommend you subscribe to:

Claire Littleton: A Little Claire-ification
Subs: 964
Why: Presidential runner-up, former Speaker of the House, and long-time friend. She's a good read and deserves a media mogul.

Michael Porter: Change You Can Believe In
Subs: 871
Why: He's one of the more famous forum moderators, has interesting viewpoints on politics and is a good friend.

Fionia: The Way I See It
Subs: 851
Why: Prominent USWP member, former Speaker and knows political side of this game as well as anyone. Also a friend, like most on this list.

NXNW: The Fife & Drum
Subs: 761
Why: Former Chariman of Joint Chiefs and Staff and current congressman, his thoughts on the game are appreciated and interesting.

Alexander Hamilton: The Hamilton Papers
Subs: 625
Why: How does this former President only have 625 subs still? It's inexcusable.

Hadrian X: Hadrian's Wall
Subs: 450
Why: Current USWP Party President and periodically runs an excellent interview series.

Candor: Voice of Candor
Subs: 423
Why: Long-time writer, has interesting observations on politics and the country.

Athanaric: The Halfing Times
Subs: 328
Why: Athanaric's been involved in government and politics for a while, he's a good read.

Blank Keating: The Keating Chronicles
Subs: 320
Why: Runs the Department of Education newspaper and writes good material here too.

GoalieBCSC: Conventional Wisdom
Subs: 112
Why: Current Vice President, and the acting President while Julian Mizu is gone. He's kind of important.

Going for their second media mogul: (These papers are near a second media mogul and are excellent, please subscribe!)

PigInZen: The Stench of the PigPen
Subs: 1935
Note: No recent articles, but he does a ton for this country behind the scenes. He's so close to the 2nd media mogul and deserves it.

President Julian Mizu: Mizu's News
Subs: 1834
Note: His most-recent article is a must-read and tragic. Keep him and his family in your prayers.

Chocolate McSkittles: McSkittles Times
Subs: 1699
Note: Former President and long-time friend, maybe subbing will get him to write more.

St Krems: Note Book
Subs: 1608
Note: Krems is the new Secretry General of PANAM and a former President. He is extremely involved in foreign affairs and is a must-read when he publishes.

Gulden Draak: The Paper Mache
Subs: 1486
Note: Former VP, very knowledgeable, and most importantly, one of our country's best writers.

Cerb: The Canine Tribune
Subs: 1421
Note: Current Secretary of State and long-time friend, he recently came back to the game.

If I've left you off the list by accident, please link to your newspaper in the comments.

Thank you all for your support. I appreciate it.
