The Economist ~ The future of the UK is in your hands.

Dear Friends,
This has been a great term, and I want to thank everyone for the consistent support you’ve shown me throughout my term. No Presidential term is easy, but this one was particularly taxing. I have found that it’s impossible for me to do everything in one month, but I’ve laid the groundwork for a great V2 experience and I hope that my successor can build on that.
This brings me, naturally, to the future. At the current moment in time, the UK is in dire straits. Despite huge cost-saving measures, our tax income is still insufficient to make ends meet. In the next month we need someone who understands economics, taxation, public finances. Someone who will not make populist moves to gather support by lowering taxes. Do you know what lowering taxes means? It means military people losing their jobs, and the military itself shrinking due to lack of funds. That, or a gradual depletion of our reserves resulting in the future generations paying for the burdens of today.
It needs someone who understands the skills markets, and formulas. Who understands the markets. Who doesn’t just look at how many companies are open, but looks at supply and demand- the basic indicators for any government. Who understands that when harvesters get paid 3 times the average wage, it means we need more, not less. Who can look at a suffering weapons sector and acknowledge that there is no shortage of guns, or weapons manufacturers.
We need someone who understands the military value of London and the cultural value of the regions. Who won’t leave our citizens vulnerable in expendable regions. Who will make tough decisions, not just popular ones. It needs someone who can explain these things to new players, often the toughest part of my job. Someone who can take the flak for making the tough decisions, but in months to come will be remembered by those same people as the guy who saved us thousands of pounds in the future.
We need someone who has been intimately involved in the military. Who has put the work in. Who has overhauled the whole system so they have better weapons, cheaper running costs, reliable raw materials. Who has paved the way to a non-IRC based training wing for the military. Who has worked tirelessly for the past month, alongside the military. Who has taken power, and then given it up when his job is done. Someone who isn’t frightened to take on the big challenges, and come out of it smiling.
We need someone who is well versed in foreign affairs. Someone who can log into IRC and talk to the most powerful Presidents in the world on a first name basis. Who can call in favours and get allies landing on the battlefield. Who can convince our enemies we’re not to be messed with and our friends that we’re a worthy ally. Who won’t speak empty promises, only solid facts. We need someone who can see an opportunity and take it, not spend hours pondering over pros and cons.
What we need most of all is a leader. Someone with experience, proven dedication, activity and commitment. Someone who has proved themselves time and time again to be there when its needed, and even when it isn’t. Who is willing to go that extra mile, or two, for the British people. Who won’t sit talking about pie-in-the-sky fantasies, but will instead talk about realistic plans. Not just ideas, but timescales and deadlines. Not just hopes, but realities. Someone who has worked so closely with the current President that they are essentially already doing the job. Someone who was willing to work with government, learn the ropes, and not just rely on ego and empty rhetoric.
Well, I’m not sure if you’ve found someone like that, but I have.
I know who I am voting for on the 5th
Iain Keers

Probably not first
JamesW for CP!
JAMESW FOR PRIME MINISTER !!!!
I'm voting jamesw
Just to say that I did the Training and non-IRC part of the army myself with Jan Baykara.
imvotingjamesw
inb4baww :3
i'm voting jamesw
@Steven Mack
It was in my manifesto last month. /me shrugs. Who actually implements it doesn't matter.
I can't remember that far back!
inorite, but it feels like it's gone so fast!
>Someone who was willing to work with government, learn the ropes, and not just rely on ego and empty rhetoric.
That sounds like Jamesw to me. 😛
tl;dr = Vote John Bartlett
I will be voting John Bartlett. Thanks for the offer though.
Also, it's nice to see TUP baw for once. Perhaps if James would learn that you can't get support from people you crap on for months, he wouldn't be in this position. :3
first we need gold, then a good leader to use it!
Dishmcds, you might not like jamesw on a personal level, that's your choice of course.
But you can't deny he has spent every government of 2010 working hard, often with no recognition. What has JB done in that time? Absolutely nothing. I'm voting for the guy who will help out, not the guy who only cares when it's his name on the politics page.
If JB has so much more support, then I must not be the only person who doesn't like him, eh? :3
Supporting a bad candidate for political reasons, potentially weakening the UK, is a bad idea in my opinion. If you guys had chosen to back someone active and competent then I wouldn't have come out so strongly for jamesw. But right now there is only 1 candidate who is a genuine option for the UK and that is jamesw.
JamesW for CP! GladOS for Amerika! Win-win \o/
Really, because to me it just sounds like you don't want TUP's candidate to lose. It's pretty much what most of the comments and articles about it sound like, tbh.
Well done for a great month, Iain.
It's a shame to see the bold disease has spread to you, though.
The Economist ~ The future of the UK is in your hands.
GO WASH IT, QUICK !
What Iain Keers means is, he's voting for the TUP guy. Jamesw has had his turn, it's time to let some new blood in.
incisive speaking - thanks for your term and I am sure you are going to be back - the 'one month' term to me seems now to be a hindrance to the process of long term stability though - do you not think things might be improved by this being at least a quarterly event?
I think I would die if I had to do this for 3 months hahaha.
Dish & Jhorlin: if Dish was running, or Thatcher, or Master Hofkens, I wouldn't have written this. But you're risking the entire future of the UK by supporting a total government noob who hasn't been involved in government at all, even as an apprentice, in the last year as the President!
I wouldn't say he would damage the future of the UK - for all the work it must take to be a great CP, it takes next to no work to avoid being a bad CP - because the ultimate baseline of our quality is our size. There's nothing a CP can really do to affect population, so even if you're right and nothing gets done for a month - at the end of it very little will have changed.
JB for CP!
I wish I could bold as well as TUP
Who cares?
Iain Keers is terrible at facts.
inb4...
Stop playing as Attack Dog in Chief and go back to being Commander in Chief.
I'm voting jamesw - The ONLY viable option
I'm voting Lipec - the candidate who WILL make a difference
vote & subs
I don't know about you guys but I like the sound of this Varlosh
@John Bartlett normally I wouldn't comment, but this time people are being so irresponsible running you, a candidate with 0 experience and 0 proven ability for the most important job in the country.
JB you still havn't answered my ?
how the hell do you expect to take 8 new territories without consolidating what we have already ?
