For the next 8 days I am the opposition.
Big Sexy Black Man
Thank you to everybody who voted for me in the region of Cork. I went up against a lot of big names and I can say that I am fortunate to have been elected. I would also like to thank the Irish Progression Party for endorsing me. In this article I'd like to take a quick look at why I was elected and what I intend to do.
Why was I elected?
Revising my last article (found here) I am quite positive that I was elected to be the prominent and professional leader of the opposition. I believe this because during the previous three Congressional elections I was quite adrift from being elected into the Congress (and they were during ICA terms, to which I am very for) however, after criticizing WHS' failure to capitalize on a possible NE against Spain I was propelled into Congress. I think this reflects a slight adjustment in the opinions of some citizens that are asking for a little added pressure for WHS that will, hopefully, tweak the outcome of his term.
WHS' term has seen little opposition which has handicapped the country
So now that I see myself as the opposition what will I pursue?
Three things.
1)More activity from the WHS administration which has been strongly inactive since the 5th. His last CP update was, to my standard, very poor and disappointing. Nobody outside the ICA has won the CP elections since November 2011 (Bhane was the last citizen too and he did a great job) so I was expecting some ambitious and adventurous policies by WHS.
2) Encourage excitement. I'm not going to fire an impeachment against WHS for no reason but I am going to encourage & back policies that will liven up the month. A great chance to NE Spain has, sadly, gone amiss which is tragic seen as how there is(was) a large call for war within the community.
3) Forums. Last but not least I would like to push WHS' administration on the one difference between his manifesto and Ethels and that was the referendum on recreating a national forum.
"A lot of people seem to have an issue with our National Forum and expressing a preference for Marcus's or the older Kolshire version.
It is the intention of this Government to hold a referendum giving choices and letting the people decide which forum will, once and for all, truly become our National Forum.
I can hold my own hand up and say that I am part to blame for the dissolution of Kolshires forums. This is a great idea and, imo, is something that should definitely be prioritized. I openly offer my own assistance to any such projects at reestablishing a national forum and I hope to see an update on this regard soon.
Once again thank you all so very much for electing Dan "The Man" Breen into Cork. I look forward to an exciting 30 day term in the Dail.

less srs bsns more bustin balls
One of your better articles, lulz can be found on a milieu of other sites a million times over. WHS may have dropped the ball on that Spanish NE, true, but he inherited a peace treaty with a full member of ONE (an ICA policy), and that enemy is at war with France (a country that doesn't think very fondly of the peace terms even after the fact they've been invaded by the UK).
He backed the peace treaty in his manifesto saying he was for it, since it was been signed no serious candidate has run against it.
That's kinda what I mean, its kinda hypocritical, why attack a ONE nation when you're maintaining something regarded as peace with another?
But not to blow up your comments I'll just close with the word on the street is Spain and Poland are looking to exit ONE and join with whatever Brazil is backing out of Terra with. So it might have made sense in a FA way.
Not at all. The Peace deal with the UK was signed to end a long, destructive war that the “Big 3” alliances regarded as nothing more than a damage drain. The fact that our nation could propose the peace deal that ended the war gives testament and credit to those that signed it. Canada has since signed a non-aggression pact with the UK.
The Peace has been backed by the HQ of each of the "Big 3". That war had become irrelevant, not fun & a waste of resources.
I haven't seen an update from our MoFA in regard to any Worldwide affairs.
Yet the Balkans still cook, odd.
Has been a very slow month ;_;
Well Dan,
Having not been a congressman in the last Dáil you wouldn't be aware that WHS has been in constant contact either personally or through his ministers by PM'ing each and every congressman and woman. The two threads created have involved a lot of discussion between the TD's - those that could be bothered to debate anyway.
Having said that, there has been an element of timidity behind this government, understandably considering it was his first term.
The decision not to NE Spain was a mistake, but no more so than our recent Swedish adventure. It's clear that the former alliances are starting to creak at the seams and perhaps it is not bad thing that we are considered neutrally aligned.
On forums, I believe the reason the forums don't work is because people can't be arsed to visit them, If you have a critical piece of legislation to go through you need the cookie crumb that is the PM.
fuck da forums
Forums? Not so much cba, as the fact they are insecure (as personally owned/operated offgame) and have been compromised before in spectacular fashions.
As for the rest, weak attempt at devils advocating in prep for the CP campaign, but at least you are stringing sentences together again. Progress indeed.

We have a forum that is potentially used O . o
>WHS mentions a forum in his article nobody says a thing
>Dan Breen quotes WHS about the forum everyone goes bananas
lol
Hi Dan
Some of your points are fair and I accept them. Maybe I did drop the ball on Spain but I explained the reason to the then Congress. Those same articles I did when I got elected said I would make mistakes I just hope none too damaging.
The forum poll is ready to run but held up as Kolshire is changing servers. We pester him every couple of days looking for progress.
I do need to put an article out and have it half written. So expect one soon. .
You are spot on on one thing! Constructive opposition is a must and I highly encourage it.

Thank you Dan. I appreciate the compliment.
I know we have butted heads the last few months over the tax & distribution system, but I know your loyalty is to my beloved Eire. We can disagree on how policy is handled, but our motivations are the same. We both do what we think is right for Eire. We just desire different means to the same ends.
Thanks Bhane for reminding me why I like you
♥
Sweet, we may dispute which path is best for Eire, but you always have my respect.
