[UK CP] A Country Divided

Day 2,302, 00:44 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by 10 Downing Street

I do not need to tell you that this has been a crazy and unprecedented weekend. To be honest, I’ve been averaging 4 hours of sleep each night since my last update, although that’s partly to do with real life events, and not just being President. Of course, the role of CP is a 24/7 job, and I am certain there will be many more sleepless nights to come. This article will cover my reaction to the impeachment vote, updates on the war effort, and what our other ministries have been busy doing over the last few days.

I have had the privilege of becoming a very early recipient of an eUK CP tradition: Impeachment. Not long after my previous article, where I advocated for putting aside our political differences and coming together in fight of the war, a member Congressman and former CP candidate, holleboer, started an impeachment vote. An impeachment requires a 2/3rds vote to win. This failed 11-25. According to his logic, he made the motion to impeach because I am a member of TUP. Yet as I have made clear in the past, I always place my country first, before my party. I continue to reiterate the importance of working together instead of diving into petty politics that destroys our nation from the inside-out. It concerns me that 11 people would vote for such a baseless and petty impeachment just about 24 hours after the election closed. On a final note about the impeachment, we cannot have an impeachment until 7 days after the last one. This means that if I die or am incapacitated over the next week, we are in big trouble. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen. Bear in mind that I live in an old building a mile away from a dangerous fault line that is overdue to produce an earthquake. I mention this as I felt an earthquake just an hour ago (the epicenter was far away, so it was almost unnoticeable). Please only use impeachments if there is a serious need to do so. This impeachment was unacceptable and distracts us from the issues that actually matter.

Surviving the flame wars.

Now to the part you all wanted to read about, the war. As of now, we have three countries that have chosen us as their Natural Enemy (NE). They are Moldova, Finland, and France. Canada and Ireland did propose NEs against us, but these were not serious proposals and therefore failed. As of the time I am writing this (around 23:30 eRepublik time), here are the following battles: Finland has attacked Scotland, Moldova has attacked NEoE, and a resistance war has broken in the Y&H. Also, Moldova currently occupied London and Y&H. Poland and the United States, two of our closest allies, are currently at war with Moldova and France respectively. The US has nearly wiped out France and is helping to liberate our regions. Right now, they are attacking SEoE which is currently occupied by France. Poland has taken over EoE and is expected to attack and liberate London within 24 hours. For a visual representation, I have edited the map with my amazingly awful Microsoft Paint skills to show the current situation.

Situation as of Day 2,301.

Our government is currently at talks with our allies as we look for renewing MPPs. Despite the claims of some people, MPPs are essential for the future of our future. We cannot defeat these countries alone. We must rely and trust that our allies will chip in as we fight in the biggest wars the UK has seen in a year. As the map shows, we have allies spending precious resources to help liberate our regions, and I give my sincere thanks to the United States, Poland, and other allies who are assisting us. Of course, it is impossible to win every single battle, but we can be victorious if we all work together. There are some people within this country that must step up their game if we are to survive. We are looking at a long-term solution to win the wars and save our country, although I cannot reveal the details at this time. There are many options available to us at this moment, so it is a matter of calculating the variables so we can choose the easiest and most efficient option to save our country. As the saying goes, Keep Calm and Carry On.

Attacks from three different countries? Challenge accepted.

In other news, all ministries are running smoothly. The NHS is working hard under its new director, Alan Warwickshire. The MoHA is. I am confident that the MoEd will not end up with me having to serve as a replacement halfway into the term, as Robin Redcap paves his vision for the next month. Likewise, the MoHA under the leadership of hotfuz is busy at work, producing an article while expanding its role to new citizens. The MoF has started a scheme to rent out orgs. Contact our MoF, Dr Kawishiwi for more info. Needless to say, Kravenn and N W G have been very busy dealing with the war situation. Special shout outs to Wookie, Count Drakula, and Mittekemuis for helping guide me and our government during these difficult times. Sorry if I’m forgetting someone, but your contributions are making a worthwhile difference for our country.

Finally, I want to end by saying that everyone has the right to criticize the government. It can help us understand what we are doing wrong, and how we can improve. But if these criticisms are warrantless, this only slows down our ability to respond to situations, as it creates unnecessary discontent, dividing our country. Our nation is under attack. While petty politics is never a good idea, if there was a worst time for it, it would be now. It’s time to place our nation first. Let’s not fight over the past, but work towards building a future.
