Winter is coming.

Day 1,791, 10:17 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

Welcome back to all of those who took a hiatus over summer. I know you're out there. I myself have had no internet for several weeks (and have been getting by by using the forums on my phone!), but as I am back in halls I'm relishing a speedy connection and generally catching up on the couple of months of internet that I have missed out on. (Funnily enough my last article was exactly 100 days ago, and I have come back just in time for my own jubilee).

For those of you who may be new, allow me to introduce myself; I am Woldy, esocialite, etrendsetter, recently appointed ejudge and the eKing. Despite what my slightly outdated wiki page may say, that's all you need to know. Most importantly however, I do introductions. Hopefully throughout the course of this article I can introduce you to what the eUK has to offer over those boring winter months.

Winter is coming.

Or so the television keeps telling me, (and a bunch of guys in fur coats who keep banging on about the North and carry swords, and I don't mean farmers) and there a few things we as eRepublikans should consider as things get colder, darker, and festive. Something I am interested in is making the eUK a generally cheerier (and cheesier), funner and more interesting place, so when I have the time I tend to do things like propose changes to Parliament (if you like that sort of thing), sometimes I offer you more direct advice on how to have 'fun' on this game and popularly I also do things like organise gaming tournaments and hold quizzes (it has been too long!) all in the hope of encouraging community spirit and involvement. Furthermore I sometimes make fun of the foreigners who try to invade us, and (for those of you with spare time) I also record a podcast with the lovely Jimbojoy.

Why am I telling you all this? Firstly so you subscribe to my paper. Cheekywinkysmileyface. I am mainly telling you this to let you know that it is all coming back!

That's right. Over the next few months you can expect to see (or hear) more podcasts, more off-site gaming tournaments, more informed discussions on the state of the nation (if you like that sort of thing) and I'm sure you'll all be pleased to hear that the Great British Quiz will be making a reappearance.

How's and Why's.

It's winter. Everyone gets a little bored until Jesus' birthday, and generally speaking when it gets cold and miserable people stay inside more and we get a little influx of activity 'round these parts. Which is why keeping people entertained is always important - and as such I highly advise subscribing to the Home Office paper as they will keep you updated on what games the government is running. If you need a good reason to get involved with such things; there are very often cash or food prizes.

Free stuff is also something which you can easily get your hands on simply by using the forums. They are easy to navigate and there a number of threads in this subforum which offer you free things. Every little helps, so get proverbially stuck in.

Similarly, the forums are the seat of our community and to really get involved, not only with the fun and games but with the eUK and it's politics (not that you have to do both) the forums is the best possible way to launch yourselves into eRepublik. It is there where forum games are held, where political parties and groups set up HQ, where writers develop their ideas and where a welcoming and diverse community thrives. If you aren't already on the forums, please consider joining up. If you don't want to or are confused by it, simply contact me and I'll help you out as best as I can. The one thing I can say is that it is worth it. Ask anyone!
