The war is lost—in more than one way.
HuCard
It is over. Switzerland has vanished from the map, the war is lost. It would not have winnable against the overwhelming might of Slovenia with its 11 allies anyway.
But at least we put up quite a fight, didn’t we? No, we did not. From what I have seen, this entire war was a single disaster from its very onset.
It would be easy to excuse the questionable choice of allies with the argument that nobody could have predicted that, of all countries, Poland’s ally would invade us so soon, but this would disregard the fundamental flaws on which the signing of the pact with Poland had reste
😛ePoland’s lack of morals, a complete ignorance in regards to the relations to our natural neighbours, the broad spectrum of superior alternatives, and so on; but I have already devoted my last article to this topic.
Thus, the only thing left to be mentioned here would be that Poland now demands 10,000 PLN from us to pay for their ally assaulting us, their betrayal of Switzerland, and their ensuing attack on our other ally Canada. It would only be just to demand reparations from them instead. What do they want to threaten us with, anyway? With an invasion of our country? Their Slovenian friends already took care of that!
But especially during the war the only thing we did reasonably well at was goodwill. Although—as mentioned before—resistance was futile, it would only have been honourable to make it a most costly victory for Slovenia and to demonstrate to the world that we only failed in the face of overwhelming odds. However, the Swiss handling of the war was marred by a complete lack of leadership—orders were, if at all, only issued sporadically, ineffectively, and with a lot of delay; there was not even a hint of organisation; neither the people nor the various military units were coordinated in any way.
The only group which managed to stand was the Sons of Anarchy. Alas, this was not only thanks to their organisation and firepower, but also to the complete wastage of both virtues: While the battle for the italian-speaking cantons was still being “fought” and our country was still extant, the Sons of Anarchy rose up in Graubunden and sunk heaps of GOLD and millions of damage in a battle which was doomed anyway as nobody had been informed of it beforehand and they were thus mostly their own; but which would have been in vain either way even if it had been won, as Slovenia had us still set as their Natural Enemy and the region would have instantly been attacked and reoccupied again.
I won’t blame them, however. As said above, our country was lacking in leadership, in controlled distribution of arms, in planning, and in pretty much everything—there was hardly any way the Sons of Anarchy could have better coordinated their operation. Therefore I propose the following to be more prepared for the next attack:
• The establishment of a supreme army command with its own subforum and IRC channel to debate the course of the war, to plan ahead, and to include the leaders of the various Swiss militias in order for them to be able to contact their units immediately.
• The concentration of the entire Swiss population in military units for a speedier relaying of orders and for a simplified organisation as well as distribution of weapons and food.
• The improvement of our communications by means of the creation of an IRC channel for matters of war, a much more efficient information policy (e.g. a message in the morning of a day to wait for further orders, and later an announcement stating which battles are to be participated in roughly half an hour in advance.)
For the duration of the Slovene occupation I further discourage anyone from initiating a futile resistance war without preceding counsel or common sense, lest it ends up like the Sons of Anarchy’s noble but misguided efforts. There already exist plans for an orderly and thoroughly contemplated liberation of Switzerland, and sooner or later we will achieve this goal.
Lastly, I would like to express my most upright gratitude to our Canadian allies. In our most difficult hour they fought with us, and they even elevated the battles for our territory to their Campaign of the Day a couple of times—while at the same time battles were raging in Greece, Spain, and elsewhere! For this, I offer you a heartfelt ~hyuu~. Until there are further developments, I have decided to stay in Canada to help defend the nation against possible further attacks by Poland—they would do the same for us, as they have sufficiently proven.

To be fair the SoA send out a few pm's and one made it into the eHelvetia forum (Luka posted it there).
This doesn't change the fact that we had no chance in hell to win this fight. The two battles against us where the only battles one could fight from Slovenia and therefore they used all their potential against us. It was the total opposite of the RW against France.
Well, I hope I didn’t come off as too inappreciative of the SoA’s efforts. They did very well, and we need to thank them for their enthusiasm and sacrifices—it’s just that they were completely misguided.
This "I told you so" about ePoland is, IMHO, uncalled for. Our diplomacy had the best intentions, and we could not have anticipated that the ePoles will turn against eCanada. On top of it all, ePoland is traditional eSwiss ally.
Though granted, their previous efforts towards us were not always without flaws.
Regarding SoA, it is their funds. They may do with them as they please.
To set the story straight, on day 1242 (Friday), we've sent a message to only 2 people: CP and Luka informing them about our intention to start a RW first thing on monday, day 1245. They both agreed as being a good idea.
Right before the RW was started, we've sent more PMs to anyone we saw online.
I can't blame anyone that the outcome was not what we all wanted, but indeed there was a lack of organisation - had we official orders to follow, we would have gladly done so, but without any orders, we did what we thought was best.
In other words, we are not the kind to sit around waiting for something to happen, rather we try to make it happen!
Until further notice from a Swiss official, we will camp in Canada and help our friends there.
Regards,
DeViLu
Commander of SoA
I was notified by SoA too.
It is so hard for a small country to be independent without becoming somebody's bitch. Poland treats us like one of theirs.
True friendship that's what we lack. It's impossible to make friends without siding in this world. Our neutrality position prevent us from making friends. It takes the hell of a diplomacy and activity to sustain natural borders and mere existence of our country. We have a couple of diplomats but it's not enough. It would be easier to join a big country that can lead us. Kind of (con)federation, 51th state of USA with rights and obligations. Serve in their army, unify taxation etc. In return they protect us. Could be interesting role playing.
Re: DeViLu
To further specify, I’m less blaming the SoA for the mistake than the general lack of… anything. Had there been a platform for Switzerland to thoroughly plan and discuss its procedure, these oversight would never have been made.
Nor was there any command structure you could have tapped into to make sure everyone joins the fight—it would have needed to be announced a day or two in advance to make sure everyone stays in Slovenia (to prevent people from moving around the rest of Switzerland or emigrating to Canada), and everyone would have needed to be told to stock up on weapons, food, and to save their fights until the battle start. That was not possible without any kind of central leadership or a national channel for the issuing of orders.
In short, let’s all do better next time.
Agreed.
As for neutrality, I believe that Siwtzerland is one of the only countries which could actually pull it off, owing to our location and our trilingual nature. I’m convinced there are quite a few French, Germans, and Italians discontent with life in their countries, be it due to the choice of alliances, constant cycles of being conquered and needing to liberate themselves again, or simply rifts in the community or a general lack of comfort.
These people we could have attracted. We would have offered them a place to stay, a place close to their homes but far away from all the internal bickering and external warfare, a neutral place where they could contact any parties they like without being branded a traitor, and yet a place where they could continue to speak their languages and feel at home without the need to emigrate into a distant country with a completely different culture.
We could have become a magnet for emigrants of our neighbouring countries, who would have bolstered our strength, and who would have given us the image of a truly tolerant and peaceful haven in this troubled world.
Never trust a pole.
All they can do is betraying other nations to get an own advantage...
It was brave but as Hu says not planned. However liberation will not be long.
multiple shifts of command would mean everyone would receive orders.
It's true about the lack of unified leadership regarding battle strategies.
This has to change. If a change in ministries must take place then do so without hesitation.
Voted
Ask why poland attacked her 'ally' canada. Canada blocked poland in america when she tried invade usa.
Oh come on, it was bloody obvious that Canada was only fooling Poland trying to confuse them while conducting region swaps with the USA.
It would seem that the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs is a little blind.
