On request by my dear friend, and compatriot, Mr.Dee, I am republishing The Philosophy of eIndia ~ Respect. It is has been edited, keeping in mind what I know of game mechanics today. India faces challenging but interesting times. It is my earnest wish that eIndians read this through, stand up with the spirit expressed here, and be counted as a significant force on the eWorld-stage!
The Philosophy of eIndia ~ Respect & Stand-Alone
eRepublik is a Social Strategy game. To think of it as a 'real' New World divorced from the reality of its programming codes; to think of it as something more than just a game, is 'folly', but I encourage you my readers, to indulge in that folly for a bit.
Upon joining eRepublik, I thought, this is fun, but what's the point? We work, & train, by flexing our finger muscles, and play World Domination - over virtual pieces of land! "This is mine; No, mine!!!"
Then I saw complete strangers, gifting me, and guiding me, Country Presidents & their teams, give enormous time and effort, to build nations & construct the foundations, all so others, WE, could pursue Our aspirations & ambitions. Here, I talk of a nation that almost didn't exist just a few months back, eIndia. I saw eIndia go from a One-State, Orissa to a Ten-State eIndia in just 3 months! And today, we have been 'gifted' back our 11th state, North India, home of our Real Life (RL) capital, New Delhi.
And I wondered, 'why'? Why did one think, act, and put in so much effort, solely for a 'game'? What motivates these guys, the 'leaders' ~ is it a sense of accomplishment, national pride, even for a virtual nation or is it a platform to gain some sort of recognition?
On Day 202 of my time here, I also ask myself, what IS eIndia? What do we stand for?
This is what I have realized.
eRepublik is a social tool, modelled loosely on RL (real life), with much of the complexities replaced by lots of idealism. Don't we all wish RL were as simple as Work and Train, that our Nations are more than what they are in RL, that we as individuals had the kind of power, that we have the scope of achieving here. eRepublik gives us the platform to express all these wishes, and desires; a voice for ourselves, and our communities, even if on a virtual platform; make ourselves heard; discharge our pent-up energies and the sense of powerlessness of RL politics & society. To say that we leave RL at the door, when we enter eRepublik IS the folly.
I have personally never seen a game, where who you are, your personality comes into play so much, and shapes the game itself. We are who we are, the way we think, talk and act, all because of RL. In the eWorld, we bring to the table exactly that, who we are, and our basic ideas and desires as to how a community should be run.
And then like in RL, we learn. We come to learn that the one thing that we cannot live without, that makes us human, even in this virtual world is RESPECT. It is Respect that enables us to work as units, under the 'leadership' of virtual Presidents, and Congress; to listen to others opinions, & work with humility, & dedication; to have genuine concern for the 'welfare' of a country or community; to build friendships & bonds with players, across a community, a nation and the globe.
We need to LEARN to RESPECT - the game, and its rules, RESPECT each other, and not post abusive/provocative material, RESPECT- our seniors, whose effort and experience has led us to where we are, RESPECT - our juniors, and not looking down on them as 'noobs' (newbies), for they are the future of our communities.
eRepublik is essentially a game of Respect. Without it, as a game, it falls short, especially when there are a variety of opinions, even contradictory ideologies, beliefs, and notions at work.
Yes, it is virtual. Yes, eIndia means nothing in RL. People might even laugh at the idea of us working so hard for something that doesn't even exist. But eIndia exists. Not just in the program codes & white/blue designs, but somewhere within us. What then is eIndia?
eIndia is a country, not afraid to stand alone. In game-lingo, it means, we are PROUD TO BE NEUTRAL. It is not our wish to challenge the concept of Alliances, but we believe, and have proved over time, that it is as much rewarding to be your own keeper, as much as it is to be in alliances. As a nation, and as a proud people, we do not depend on anyone, neither do we seek to over-ride anyone's authority. eIndia has the guts to Stand Alone & be counted for that.
Facts: 6 out of 17 of our lands are not in our hands; we have a mere 600 population, as compared to the thousands that most super-powers have (ironic, when a Social networking site has 13 million users in India alone). It is a fact that we are surrounded by PEACE powers on all sides. It is ALSO a fact that eIndonesia is a good friend of ours. It is ALSO a fact that eIndia has a long list of friends, allies with whom we have fostered deep bonds of friendship, via diplomacy as well as by standing by their side in times of need.
So does standing alone mean, we ARE alone. Absolutely not.
Standing Alone means, we build our own own community up, with RESPECT & NEUTRALITY as our credo. Standing alone means, we work with our government, not like a real life hierarchy, but as a team of equals, dedicated individuals, with a common goal, a vision that percolates from our leaders with months of experience to the newbie, one day old. We take our population to 100,000 and more, led by our Expansion team; we take our economy up to soaring heights, led by the solid panel of economists & business that we have; we develop and strengthen our Military, so we have the Might behind the Words; we forge and deepen our friendship with Nations all over the eWorld, and be counted as the most respected, dignified, & strong Nation of the eWorld.
That is eIndia, the eIndia of today & tomorrow. That is what many of my fellow eIndians & I are working towards & its great fun to be walking this path. So what IS eIndia? eINDIA IS A LAND OF LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES.
eRepublik is a learning tool. About us, and the world around. Yes, its great fun, but its not 'just' a game.
We have a long and tough journey ahead, but I can assure you all, my fellow eIndians, its going to be a most rewarding one. I hope all my eIndian brothers and sisters are with me on this journey.
Today, let us make our voices heard and Shout: WE ARE eINDIANS, WE RESPECT!!!

On the other hand I would request the next article to be one that talks of fostering friendship and brotherhood amongst nations that have mutual distrust. Surely if other nations could have a successful gift exchange we could do one better and make friends where we did not believe possible.
