For those who know and those that don't, I was a Battle Hero... well almost! Aaah its so damn disappointing on one hand, and so much fun, I thought, what the heck, I'll bring out an article about it!!

Ok, so here's the story, the quest of an almost hero & my villains!

It goes back to few days [Flashback]. I was battling villains, big bad-ass ones that give 5 year-old's nightmares, the real-life types, Work & Bills! Work almost had me pinned down, and Bills was jumping up and down on my head! Real Life is always maverick10 & every other eRepublikan's kryptonite!

I am Real Life! You are all my slaves!!

While I could get pent-houses (Q5 house for the imaginatively challenged), lavish meals & Bazookas (figure it out!), accolades and Ministry duties in eRepublik, RL has been quite a drab, the epitome of stress and work-pressure. Being in media, a most unforgiving field, work has been especially tough recently. So when I got an offer for a big project, a lifetime opportunity, a Q5 size job, I jumped at it. Its is huge! It is so powerful, that the villains Work & Bills, seem like specs of dust before the wind!

However what it meant, and still does is... temporary hibernation. Cryogenic freeze. A samadhi of sorts, for those who speak Indian. I, maverick10 have to bid eRepublik, and my beloved eIndian community goodbye, in a couple of months.

Everyone tells me, I'll find time to 2-click or 7-click even! I sure hope so, but then I'll have new villains to deal with! Actually the same old one, in a new form ~ Work will keep me outdoors, and in places with no internet connection.. yeah there are still places in the world like that.. odd, ain't it!! 😛

I declare war on Work! Aah I wish I had multi's in RL! Just kidding, Vote NO to Multi's!!!

Ready for the battle!!

So it came to a very simple 'realization' for me. For one, I wasn't having nearly as mush fun here as I should be having, for after all the game mechanics are there so we have a blast doing what we do. Also I wasn't doing nearly as much as I CAN do for the eIndian community, which I care for, in spite of being here for a short while. While the community aspect is something I am working on for sometime now, and will just need to speed things up a bit, to have fun, my options were limited. Many of my friends were out 'traveling' the eWorld, and given my responsibilities here in eIndia, especially as India United party president, I couldn't do so. I had been saving up my gold & bought some recently, so I wondered how best I could blow up my resources!

So with all this ... came Day 670... just another ordinary day or was it? Well war rages the world over, and compared to that, a Training war, however vital for the muscles, can be a tad bit boring.

The only way I could have the blast I wanted... was to go all out. Spend up some gold, get those Bazooka's blasting, and doing some serious damage! My mitts aren't strong enough nor rank any good to be raking nearly enough damage to say it was easy. So what it meant was I'd have to go on the 3 'G's (as a friend put it) - Guts, Glory and Gold. Well loads of Gold! Details confidential, but trust me, its no funny amount!

Only drawback was, that this was my first attempt at serious damage, and I lacked the experience for it. What could have been a calculated and organized attempt became me firing away to glory till I was, simply speaking, spent. I raked up some 4000 damage in the 1st day, using up pretty much all my gold and weapons! Not only was I fired up, I was also oblivious of the fact that 4k damage CAN get you give you a shot at Battle Hero. In fact, I fought and didn't even notice I was current Battle Hero till an hour after the fight!! Yeah, I know, pure genius!! 😛 Haha. Anyway, it struck me after sometime, that my avatar was sitting pretty on the battle page!

But within few hours, my nemesis, Step40, had done some good 5.4k damage. By mid battle, maverick10 again showed on the current Battle Hero page, now with 5850 damage, but now definitely a broke maverick10!! I was down to zero gold, and 1 Q5 weapon.

I was told by my friends and well-wishers to hold till the last minute, and as I was out of resources, loaned some gold and weapons, for the rest of my challenge. Of course by now, I was actually eyeing the Hero medal & pretty kicked about it!!

As the end of battle approached, my excitement grew, not knowing what was in store! Some 3-4 minutes to the end, my opponent and challenger struck. Step40 now raked up some 6400 damage. I had enough fight in me to take it up to 6600-6700. But my experience was lacking. I fought out my quota, and ran out of Q5's. While I still had gold, continuing to fight would mean, I'd make a meager 30 or so damage per fight. I hit something around 6900 damage, and all I could do was hope for the best.

Then, Step40 hit 6990. And the timer ran out.

And this is how it looks in the end 🙁

Need I say more about my disappointment? Aaah, what a fail! Okay I'll say it.. over 120 gold spent behind it, and not a medal to show for it!! Heck, it wasn't even a real war! I know... maverick10 is officially eRepublik's biggest & poorest idiot! But definitely a happy idiot!! 😃

After all, doing 6900 damage, might be child's play for some of the bigger wigs, for me to go for it, without much backing, and that too on a whim... I clap me on the back for it!! And I am that much closer to General because of this mad ride!

And for that I'd like to thank my friends who supported me all the way, the eIndian community; wish I could give you a hero, but heck, a 'almost hero' is good enough I hope; the Villains Work & Bills, cos after all Work pays for Bills!!!

Lessons learnt? Definitely!

Lesson one: Have fun, and sometimes throw the role-playing and calculated moves out of the window/browser or whatever... 😛
Lesson two: Lesson one, is more important than sitting on pots of gold and wondering what to invest in and all that!
Lesson three: If you actually want a Battle Hero, the 3 G's are most important. However, you also gotta know how to fight and not go at it blindly like I did for the most part!
Lesson four: Really if you got the gold and the proper planning, & backing, pretty much any intermediate Citizen can go for it! Not only for the high strength players only.
Lesson five: I make General in 4 days, and will be joining the Indian Navy in 3 days. So.... I buy more gold, and go for it again in a week!!! 😃

Hope I have bored you enough with the tale of my little adventure! But hey I hope you're having as much fun as I'm having here. eIndia, await your Hero for a few more days!!! 😃
Man, these medals are addictive!!!

If only there were damsels to impress... *sigh*
