Hello readers. This is the first article in a series that will take a look at different countries around the eWorld. I plan to take a look at not only the large countries, but also some of the smallest countries. A focus of the series will be to look at the history of the countries, along with recent current events. My goal is to educate newer players about the history of the eWorld.

What comes to mind when you think or hear about Africa? Savannah? Desert? War? Famine? Now, what comes to mind when someone mentions eAfrica? I'm guessing that most of you will automatically think of the nation of eSouth Africa. It's probably a safe guess, as it is the only country on the continent that is currently in the eWorld.

Now, at a quick glance at the map, you would notice that eSouth Africa has two regions, Limpopo and the Free State, and also that it has almost 700 citizens. But that would be as much as you would be able to gather from just a quick glance at the map. You learn nothing about the people, the history, or anything that could actually be considered relevant. To truly understand these things, you must look into the past, at the events which shaped the country.

eSouth African History
Before I continue on with this article, let me just say that as I myself have only been in the game for about two months, this will be as much of a learning experience for me as it is for other newer players. I would also like to apologize for any mistakes that I may make regarding the history, so I would appreciate any correction.

When eRepublik first came out, eSouth Africa had nine regions. Today, as mentioned above, it has two. Skip forward to June 2008, and the country became involved in a war against Indonesia. eSouth Africa held out for a few days against Indonesia, but eventually the admins had to put the war on hold from June 14th-July 23rd. When the fighting finally resumed, Indonesia successfully conquered all of the coastal regions, succeeding in their goal of gaining access to South America. They then proposed a peace treaty, which the eSouth Africans agreed to, thereby ending the war.

A few months later, a group later known as the Zockyists, who were Croatian, controlled the eSouth African government. This period was marked by a number of scandals involving the treasury, in which some gold and the national currency was taken from the treasury. After the creation of Croatia, the Zockyists lost power, and eventually lost control of the government.

In late May, 2009, the country was conquered by Indonesia and Brazil. Eventually, Brazil allowed the eSouth Africans to regain Limpopo, putting them back on the map.

Present Day
It's time to transition now to current events happening in eSouth Africa. It appears that Ajay Bruno seems to have been publishing endorsements for nearly everyone thinking that he will have success in ruining their campaigns (not really relevant, just think its funny).

The country is a member nation of the alliance known as Sol. It participates in war games run by the alliance. They also regained the Free State, which brought them up to two regions.

Other Useful Information About eSouth Africa
eSouth Africa has a high diamond region, Limpopo. The current president is Steven Bosch.

I appreciate you all for reading this, and hope that you stay tuned for the next article, focusing on eChina.
