The ADTP’s Day of Epic Fail – And How to Properly Harness our Potential

If you have not already, please vote for the Best Newspaper in the eUS. See this article for more information.

I would like to make clear that I am not blaming those who are currently running the party (which includes me) in this article. They have all done a good job, but bad luck, lack of coordination, and low numbers mixed together to create a disaster.

Yesterday was Congress election day. In the morning, I was feeling confident both about my own congressional run, and the chances of the members of my party running. This is, until I logged on and saw that my main opponent in New Mexico, MorningAlice, already had nine votes to my zero. (BTW, I would like to thank all of those who voted for me yesterday. I lost the election due to many people who I sent moving tickets to not voting for me, and me not messaging as many people as I should have. I gathered 7 votes, which is pretty good when you consider that that does not include me (I was a sniper, and by the end of the evening I was behind by 13 so it was hopeless), or any other snipers.)

Throughout most of the day, there were only a few ADTP members in the lead in their elections. However, most were not behind by much, and we overestimated the number of snipers we had.
When it came time to snipe (by this time I had given up on my own race), we got together all of the snipers we could find. I won’t tell you exactly how many we had, but it was more than 2 and less than 4. Until one of them had computer troubles, and came back 3 minutes after voting closed.
However, we had bad luck, and our sniper votes went to waste when the sniped candidate lost by one vote.

We ended up with 3 candidates making it into congress, a pretty pathetic number. However, it could have been worse, right?

It was worse. If you take a closer look at the three candidates elected, you can see why yesterday was an epic fail for our party, the ADTP.

One of the winners was Pizza the Hut (aka Ajay Bruno), who is generally accepted as a PTOer by 99% of the eUS population. The only reason he was running for our party was because the blocker who was supposed to run in his state never showed up. Our party has a very hard time getting enough blockers in the first place, and we can often do nothing when one fails to show up. So, basically, we only had two members win their elections.

But one of the members who won, Sherman Firefly, is a new player who has no shouts, no newspaper, only nine friends, and was a blocker. He somehow got 10 votes.

So that leaves one candidate left. Luckily, this member, Mayor Fawkes, was a real candidate who deserves to be in congress. I wish good luck to him.

So as you can see, yesterday was clearly an EPIC FAIL for our party, the American Defense and Trade Party. However, there is hope for the future. Take a look at the scientifically developed graph:

We actually had more FAIL than SEES yesterday. Ouch.

Our party has a lot of potential. As I emphasized in my ADTP PP campaign article, we can harness our potential through communication, coordination, and commitment. We need to communicate with and coordinate mobile votes and sniper votes much better. And while we have a solid group of committed party leaders, what we lack is members who are willing to take the much simpler commitment of blocking and mobile voting. The best way to start all of these efforts is to recruit new members, and as ADTP director of outreach (which I still consider myself to be, even though I was appointed three months ago and never officially reappointed), I am going to run a mass messaging and communication campaign to gain new members. More information on this will come soon.

Members of the ADTP: Our party has reached a low point in its existence. From here, we are going to go back up, and improve every aspect of our party. But we need your help. Remain informed about party happenings, vote in the PP primary, volunteer to block or snipe, or even run for congress. We have potential, and you can help us harness it.

TL, DR version: Yesterday was an EPIC FAIL for our party, the ADTP. Our party did as bad as we could do without dropping out of the top 5 (which, I can assure you, will not happen.) However, we can, and will, recover, and emerge stronger than ever. But to do this, we need the help of the members of our party, and we need to focus on Communication, Coordination, and Commitment.
