Running for President

Day 1,871, 08:20 Published in Japan Japan by Akki

I am formally announcing my bid to run for the president of eJapan. I was initially thinking of writing a long wall article about my credentials and past experiments (2009-style), but I have decided to skip those for the brevity of the article (for those tl;dr crowds).

I don’t wish to bore you all with list of specific stuff I promise I will do as president, since they never go the way you envision before you are elected (from my past experience, serving as president of eJapan for 6 terms). Both internal and external situation surrounding eJapan next month could derail anything you plan up on paper, thus it is better to start with larger ideas and narrow down your focus as you start dealing with those issues later. Thus I would rather like to start by discussing my policy as well as belief surrounding eJapan government next month.

I intend to keep what have been working up until now under current president. There are many structures that the current president have started that I feel is working and only needs few modification to improve them. I do not like changing stuff for the sake of changing, and in most cases, stuff will be altered to boost their effectiveness and not their core values. Any governmental plan should be made in accordance with what is required by eJapan today in 2013; I plan on making sure anything I implement is compatible with the community in eJapan. Basically I would like to strive for a solution that works and not just plans that sounds good that doesn’t work with majority of eJapan.

If you don't like my policy, I am always available to listen to your dissatisfaction and concerns to reform it

There are few things that I consider have been successful in last 2 month. One of which is our relationship with CoT which has been strengthened. I plan to continue increasing our ties with CoT and to make eJapan more active part of the Alliance. Also, other things that have been successful is Ministry of Education and Ministry of Defense, which have had a rocky start this month, but have recovered itself into full operation after a week or so of transition time. I am supportive of the works that have been done by the current MoE and MoD, and wish to continue on with the structure that they have founded.

There are of course few things that have been unsuccessful in last 2 month, since no government is ever perfect. Our attempt at fixing our immigration policy has been a total failure, which both the congress and the president have failed to address. It is my belief that immigration law in eJapan is currently non-existent, due to the fact our old law with MoS has been lost after the loss of Kokawayoshi forum and a forum wipe initiated by Nowe (Minakami Suoh). No congress have passed a formal immigration law after that (except for the one that was passed by last congress, which have been violated by 80% of the congress when it was passed, including the person who wrote it). Thus I think the best place to start is back to the drawing board to come up with immigration policy that works well enough. I plan on appointing a MoS so that people who still follow the old practice can continue until the official law is passed by the congress.

As for my cabinet, they are still work in progress. I did not want to make a formal offer for most of the cabinet position, before I have officially announced my intent to run for president. Main reason being that if anyone have a deep affection towards some position in which they really want to get involved, I’d like to give them chance to do so. I have list of people whom I plan on asking to serve in certain position which I hope to fill in next 2 days; however, if anyone reading this have some deep desire to serve in certain part of the government, shoot me a PM in next 2 days, and I will put it into the consideration. Hopefully, by the Election Day, I will have the list of my cabinet members ready.

On position which I have already filled in my cabinet is the position of Vice President. This role will be filled by Darshu who is the most suitable person for the job. He will be working close with me, so whenever I am not available, he can cover anything that needs to get done ASAP. He also has CP experience in eJapan and was selected to be the best president of eJapan two years in a row, so he knows what he needs to do whenever he needs to cover for me. He will be also serving as an advisory role to help with important decision that might need to be made in the next month. I believe in his skill, and I place the upmost trust in him. I believe deep from my heart that he will not disappoint me; I have worked with him in the past, and he was excellent.

Hopefully, it is short enough to get the word across, but not bore you (it’s short enough in my books). If you have any question, shoot it to me in game or in IRC (please not in forum, since I usually miss them).

P.S. Also want to wish a good luck to my opponent Oraizan, whom I have also worked with closely back in 2009. I can’t say that I was satisfied with her handling of her previous 1 term she served as a CP of eJapan; however I know she is a good person and more than qualified for the position.

P.P.S. For Tyrranus (Boukun Suzaku) who voiced concern against my diplomatic skills in his article:

More pic, hopefully, coming soon (need to go through my folders for appropriate pics)…
