Qu'est-ce que le eCanada? / What is eCanada? [English Version Posted]

English Version
Dear readers of the Le Conservateur newpaper,
Against my usual habits, I originally only posted this article in French. There were good reasons for that. First, I wanted everyone interested to make a special effort to read it. Second, it showed how it can be difficult for unilingual French speakers to follow what's happening in eCanada.
To exhibit my thoughts about eCanada, I'll allow myself to establish a parallel with real life. I'll use the terms "Canada" and "Québec" without the "e". Those are personal ideas, some are consistent with the Union Nationale platform, but not all of them.
Every country has an identity, a collective vision taking root in it's own history.
Canada commenced with the contribution of courageous and adventurous individuals, in quest of living space and discoveries. The French were the first European settlers to colonize the country, starting the written history of Canada. Adapting to a cold and hostile climate, self-reliance and courage forged the spirits of the settlers. Slowly, but steadily, the "Canadien" nation (later called Canadien-Français nation) grew under a monarchy regime.
Then, there was the war with the English empire and the Thirteen Colonies that brought in sufferings that are still ressented today by some. With the American Revolution, the Loyalists (from which a good potion of English-speaking Canadians originate) got installed in a similarly hostile country and shared the challenges experienced by the Canadiens-Français settlers.
The Loyalits and the Canadiens-Français were forced to live together and cooperate to survive as a distinct entity. The Loyalists wanted to maintain a link to the British Empire, the Canadiens-Français to avoid becoming submerged and assimilated in the Americain nation. It is the threat posed by the USA that united Canada. Democracy and parliementarism became institutionalized and the quality of life and freedom of the the Canadiens-Français improved compared to the French regime. French customs, religion and culture progressively aquired a status in the colony, which became a federation in 1867. The two founding people of Canada experienced a tremendous demographic growth in the 19th century..
Canadians of all origins fought in both world wars, to defend democracy and our freedom. In each of those wars, we were engaged to defend countries from which Canada originate
😛France and the United Kingdom and Canada left a mark with powerful contributions. At the end of the second world war, Canada's navy was third in the world and our air force was fourth. But, it's really after the second world war that Canada took its place on the world stage, with an unique foreign policy (middle power doctrine, Suez Crisis, peacekeeping).
Taking a step back, the success we accomplished is immense. From a bunch of settlers fighting one of the harshest climates in the world, Canada is now a rich, solid nation. There are no class warfare (relatively speaking) and our citizens are healthy and safe. It's as if a perfect equilibrium was maintained through time to bring us where we are...
Is this a coincidence? NO! Equilibrium, moderation and judgment are in Canada's DNA! Historically, compromises made Canada and this is now in our collective mind and way to approach things. We have a national duality providing an unique perspective on the world that prevent us from sinking in radicalism, and ethnocentrism.
However, for this dynamic to continue, we need to cultivate Canadian duality. Why is that? The presence of French speaking Canadians is simply threathened by the predominance of English as the international language. French speakers now form only a fourth of the population and pratically speaking mostly in Québec. In absence of respect and usage of French it is the long term success and survivability of Canada that is threatened!
On those words
LONG LIVE QUÉBEC AND LONG LIVE CANADA!

Excellent article!
Nice article 🙂
See all I saw was, I am a frenchman and a quebequer and I dont really care about canada 😉
très bon article, j'appui totalement.
Tu me surprend oméga!
Bravo
Bon article! Voté.
Félicitations!
Canada's survival does not depend on yours.
Every ship needs an anchor, it's supposed to stay hoisted most of the time though.
Excellent travail!
@Omega1759: I find your convenient neglect of +10,000 years of indigenous peoples and culture in your particular rendition of history rather disturbing.
@Dr. Malheureusement...
@M. Loiselle: It is precisely this article's emphasis on anglo/franco duality what I find disturbing. Canada is bigger than that. And please don't jump to conclusions based on my avatar: I have liberal arts degrees from two Canadian universities and my family is Métis. Thus, I do have an understanding our nation's history and I indeed do have 'une certaine connaissance de la culture amérindienne profonde."
Dr. Spartakus, we are not supposed to doubt the french overlords.
Their sense of cultural entitlement is more important than reality or unity. We can only have unity by agreeing with everything they say.
Stupid Frenchmen do not notice that eCanada was not started by anglos OR Francos, and for that matter, even first nations.
For the Love of Dio part of the reason why these darn idiots piss me off is because they mix RL with EREP.
Sounds like a good reason to have RL issues, however I once again say that RL ideas ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with eIdeas. If you want to argue me that point come on IRC anytime.
Its funny how you made the ad in english and everything here is in french.
PANDA DOESNT SPEAK FRENCH!
Please refer to the english version here..http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/ecanadian-unity-where-do-you-stand--1224435/1/20
What Dr. Spartakus Skrypnyk said.
It may work better if you have an English translation. English speakers may feel further alienated from an ad that was in English but the content only French.
Don't make your ad English if there is no English in your article... It won't get you votes or subscriptions.
ROFL @ only atoms.
Looking for a serious workers!

Funky Hum24n a dit << Canada's survival does not depend on yours.>>
It has. If it was not for the CanadiEns, the unitedstatian rebel boots would have kicked each and every loyalist anglo butt out of America. We have gotten guarantees in exchange of our contribution to Canada and we will never abandon those.
Moreover; Canada's survival does not depend on yours either.

Bravo !
Cultural black mail in RL and in game. Who gave you the guarantees in game Paul?
Unable to supply facts that back up your statement so you ask me to leave? Typical spoiled bitch.
I fight in RL and I'll fight here. If the people of RL Canada ( or eCanada) were allowed to vote on your 'special priviledges' you would lose them in a second, don't forget that.
You people have had sunshine blown up your ass for so long you've lost touch with reality.
@M. Loiselle
All I read there was *ribbit ribbit ribbit*

I don't speak with my emotions Paul. My opinions are objective, unlike your entitlement which is totally based on emotions and has no objective value whatsoever.
Thanks for posting the English version Omega. 🙂
