P*ss Off Plato Fund - update

Day 3,437, 03:26 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by VoodooMike71

Some days ago - before all the Easter and chocolate and not being at work stuff happened - I launched the P*ss Off Plato fund.

The idea was - and indeed is - simple: gather together a sizeable fund, then offer that fund as a reward to the person who does something that p*sses Plato off so much that it directly and demonstrably brings about a tangible improvement to the game.

In the interests of clarity and transparency, but mostly publicity (especially abroad - nudge nudge hint hint etc), here’s the first update to the fund/plan/idea/thing…

Where’s the fund at?
At first the plan was to fund this … er … endeavour by winning other people’s competitions and shoving the cash into a prize fund. Indeed, I clearly and specifically stated that I very firmly didn’t want anyone to donate to the fund, for several good reasons. So, in true eRep style, within an hour of publishing the first article a couple of sugar daddies rich benefactors rolled up and told me to shut the f*ck up and take their cash.

So I did.

Because I’m weak.

Since then the donations have continued to flow, meaning that the fund smashed through the initial target of 100k and is now just north of 160,000 CC.

+++UPDATE!+++
There's been a highly unexpected and - frankly - potentially game-changing development.

Plato has endorsed this article for 50 gold.

Err ... wasn't expecting that

Which means, I guess, that there's more chance of this thing working than any of us - especially me - expected. The 50 gold will, of course, be converted to cash and added to the fund. The idea that Plato is self-funding a campaign to annoy himself into action makes me happy 🙂

Watch this space! (And tell your friends to get involved)

+++UPDATED UPDATE!+++
A huge and hugely generous donation of 150,000 CC has come in, swelling the POP Fund to more than 360,000CC overall. At this rate the prize will end up being half a million.

Tell your friends! Get involved! Watch this space!

Donor identities protected - ha! Take that Plato!

Sweeet! So, the competition’s ready to roll then?
You’d think so, wouldn’t you? But it’s not.

So far the POP fund has grabbed the attention and fired the imaginations of many of my eUK compadres. But - in stark contrast to these Brexit-y times in which we live - I want to welcome as many international chums as possible into my ample and welcoming bosom, so that they can suckle from... (E😛 this metaphor needs to stop. Now.)

Tip: don’t do a Google image search for “ample and welcoming bosom”

Yeah … er … it would be nice if this fund and competition could go a bit more global, giving players from around the world chance to participate and - potentially - p*ss Plato off.

Er … OK. So what should I do in the meantime?
Easy - publicise this article (or the previous one) far and wide, especially to your friends from outside the UK. Encourage people to read the article and then - if they like the idea - keep an eye on my newspaper for the article that launches the competition properly.

Perhaps you could even write an article in your own country and language publicising the P*ss Off Plato Fund. To help with this, I’ve let Google Translate come up with some foreign language versions of P*ss Off Plato...

Arabic : شخ قبالة أفلاطون
Belarusian: адвалі Платон
Bulgarian: Разкарай се Платон
Catalan: Pixar fora de Plató
Dutch: P*ss off Plato (really?) Steek de draak met Plato (thanks Greengold)
Esperanto: Tedi al Platono
Estonian: Tõmba uttu Plato
Finnish: Painu helvettiin Platon (thanks Repe)
French: Patez Platon Faire chi*r plato (merci N.oName)
German: P*ss aus Plato
Greek: Τσαντίσεις Πλάτωνα
Hebrew: שתן את אפלטון
Italian: Incazzare Plato
Korean: 플라톤에서 열 받게하다.
Latin: Defricatus urina off Cicero
Latvian: Mīzt off Platonu
Lithuanian: Odwal Platonas Atsip*sk Platonai (thanks Titless Fairy)
(started getting bored here)
Norwegian: P*ss off Plato (again, really?)
Persian: رفتن رو مخ پلاتو (thanks Lord.Jax)
Spanish: P*ss fuera de Platón
Turkish: Plato'yu öfkelendir

OK, That's enough of that. There are plenty of other languages in which you too can p*ss of Plato.

Will do. Anything else I should know?
Not really - that should just about cover it.

The next time I can be arsed, I’ll put together a new article moving things on to the next stage - the official launch of the P*ss Off Plato Competition. And that’s when things (hopefully) will get really interesting.

Enjoy the show.

Carlton suspects that Google Translate doesn’t know what "p*ss off Plato" is in Dutch or Norwegian
