On Politics, As Always

Day 905, 20:40 Published in Singapore Switzerland by Lynari

Real life has prevented me from writing for a while. I’m in high school, and last week was AP testing. But that is done now.

In my last article, I discussed the difference between Singapore and the nations I am more familiar with in regard to attitudes toward politics. Understand firstly that I didn’t mean to insult. Luckily, I don’t think anybody took it that way. Rather, and happily, I was impressed by the number of intelligent responses I received.

I haven’t seen anything come out of the President yet, which is troublesome. That is unless, of course, more goes on than we can know from the media. This would be equally bothersome, though; we should be more aware of our government. I’ll compliment the administration by saying that Tommy Aquinas has offered us a comprehensive proposal in the hopes of making a more actively involved population. They are not complex ideas, nor brave to suggest, but they are simple things that would be beneficial and really should be happening. They never seem to, though - I mean this of all countries - and the first step is somebody mentioning it. To Tommy Aquinas, I say good work.

Atracurium has outlined his plans for what will apparently be the most extensive platform I have ever seen. Already, I am impressed – not because of the quantity he will be writing (I’m not so shallow,) but because of his eloquence, his dedication to an organizational pattern, and some of the policies he’s hinting at already.
Maybe one or two gold each, out of my own pocket.
He said this today about a potential salary for ministers. The question of a ministerial salary has always been sour with me; it is not as if ministers can’t make an income while in office, and they should work for the people, not profit. And yet, this is such a benevolent idea. The prospect of being paid gives the ministers an incentive to do good work, and the fact that it would be Atracurium’s own money rids it of any perceivable greed or corruption.

I’m back from my writing hiatus, Singapore, here to make the national media a tad less barren.
