NewsNight 2.0 #2

Day 1,723, 08:26 Published in United Kingdom Belgium by Veruvia

In a second special edition of NewsNight 2.0, we look at a recent article released by the President of the United States, Glove, suggesting that the United States could go to war with the United Kingdom should the public decide it. Could the United Kingdom withstand such an attack? Would our allies come to our aid? We ask these questions and more in this next edition.

United States versus United Kingdom

There can be no doubt that the United States has, for a long time, been a considerable foe of the United Kingdom but it has remained quiet on the shores of the British Isles. Soon, that could all change. In this article by the President of the United States, we are described as "Redcoats" and we seem to be the preferential option of the POTUS for attack. Public opinion, however, seems to differ as much of the comments focus on their larger prey including Indonesia and their former allies, Canada. The question now is whether the Foreign Affairs Ministry takes this threat and begins to prepare for any eventuality. Irregardless of the outcome, we must be ever wary of this formidable opponent. The will of the public is a mighty weapon to wield in a nation with such a strong population.

Canada, Oh Canada

Another international story that focuses on the United States, this time on their relationship with Canada. The White House Press Room released an article indicating that the POTUS is looking for a peace treaty with Canada in order to restore their bro-lliance. A report from the Croatian Foreign Office gives a more disparate picture of the relationship between these two North American nations and suggests that the conflict between the two is harming proTEDEN forces. With the Croatian Foreign Office suggesting that the eUSA is moving to a pro-CTRL position, the coming weeks may be a turbulent time for the eUS as many eUS citizens oppose an alliance with Canada.

Reforming the Military

It comes as no surprise to us that BigAnt, the British Country President, has made his first act in attempting reform the military. What seems like a de facto action of all presidents as they attempt to make their mark on the nation, BigAnt is introducing changes which he outlines here. There is still a prevailing opinion among party leaders that party-affiliated military units are the way forward and that the British military is hemorrhaging money, failing to attract sufficient numbers, keep interest or use influence effectively. Jimbojoy reminded me that Thomas765 abolished the military when party-affiliated military units appeared to be the more attractive choice but that decision was subsequently reversed and it seems we're back to the status quo.

Reader Responses

Some fantastic comments from a wide variety of people with Jimbojoy mentioning the dissolution of the military under Thomas765, Orinocco suggesting that BigAnt's cabinet is an attempt to stave off attempts at impeachment through a lack of experience and Niemand backing up that claim by suggesting the large number of votes Count Drakula received was a warning sign. Interestingly, BigAnt felt the need to response but, in my opinion, it's too early to gauge how he will perform. Let's give it a week and see where we're at.
