III: What's Next?

Day 1,844, 08:05 Published in USA USA by The Artful Dodge

Hello. I am The Artful Dodge. Rascal, scalawag, lover, and frequent user of Jean Dujardin avatars. Welcome to my humble paper, my digital hideaway where I can share the musings of my addled mind with you, the other players of this strange little game called lif...I mean eRepublik.

Shhh....everyone is sleeping

Yesterday people celebrated. From one end of our digital realm to the other, people wanged, people chunged. A good time was had by all as they reveled in the fact that, for another month, this country would remain their own.

In the end, The "Unity" candidate Inwegen received 52.8%, with Hanibal LA receiving 39.4% and a bit less than 10% being split among three minor candidates. According to my computer screen, 2531 citizens cast votes on the 5th, down from previous months. This could mean a number of things. Perhaps, not pleased with Inwegen but unwilling to vote for Hanibal LA, people chose not to vote. It could mean we have less active citizens than in previous months. Finally, it could mean that this is a computer game and maybe people just didn't get on that day. We have no sure way of knowing.

For an analysis of the numbers and what they could mean moving forward, take a look at this article from Candor, who breaks it down and attempts to explain the problems in our current system and how, if left uncorrected, the AFA will win the highest seat in the land by February.

Now I don't agree completely with that timeline; but then again, i'm an optimist, so I could just be fooling myself.

There are clearly things that we as a nation can fix to make these elections go more smoothly; but so far the majority seem unwilling to take those steps. We need to develop incentives to bring friendlies back to our shore. Our messaging needs to reflect a hopefulness for what players/citizens can accomplish and succeed in as residents of the eUS. No longer can we simply tell our new players and two-clickers, "Vote us, AFA bad." Positive trumps negative, we need to inject some fun, excitement, and optimism back into this country.

In my own news, I have graduated Flight Training and moved into the Cannon Cockers, a private MU that a number of my peers in Vox Populi are members of. I've noticed across the board a number of mess ups with daily orders the last few days. Not sure why this keeps happening, but it makes things frustrating. It's not as if this module is brand new anymore.

Laura Vandervoort...your argument is invalid

That's all for now. Thank you for checking out my paper. I'll be back with more soon.
