HOPE?
GLaDos.
At last the admins have some plans that might bring back interest and strategy.
Over the next 2 months we plan to roll out a series of changes in order to put more emphasis on the strategy part of the game and address several of eRepublik’s issues as voiced by the Community.
We are presenting a sketch roadmap of the things we are currently working on so you can both have an overview of the things to come and have your say on it.
A new Industry together with its correspondent New Resources will be added to the eRepublik Economy. Countries will be able to fight for the New Resources as part of a fresh Resource Wars event, starting in the following weeks. This remake of the 2015 Resource Wars will bring different rules to the table and a greater focus on strategy and balancing.
The new Industry will significantly change the way the battles are fought and allow new users to matter from their first days, without impacting the fun of the loyal players base.
Once the Resources are allocated and the event is over, bonus productivities of the regions will change, the rare resources regions will have better bonuses than the common ones.
Players’ Companies will no longer travel with them. Companies will be established on firm ground and benefit from the bonuses of the Region/Country they are based in. Taxes will be calculated accordingly and Companies will be subject to trade embargos once again. Players will get to decide where to base their current Companies.
Region specific taxes will follow enabling a higher taxation of occupied territories as spoils of war. As a next step we will be looking at the introduction of Regional Governments with elected officials.
Increased revenue for Country accounts by extending taxation to all the revenue base (Combat Orders and Currency medals), enabling governments to better fund Military Campaigns among other things.
Travel will have changes too, and will no longer be based on arbitrary zones but on Real World distances.
Players that fight in closely contested rounds will get more Prestige Points.

They seem to be listening to feedback on this to a degree as well, although they haven't yet addressed all the concerns, some answers is better than what we had previously.

I'm hopeful that this might be a step back towards more of a complex strategy game, although it's also possible that the new industry might just be something like nukes or defensive structures, and there might not be much change in the way goods are produced.
I also hope that we can have a well rounded eAustralian debate about our strategy going into the new resource wars so we don't end up with a raw deal on raw materials like we did last time.
Raw deal..... It was something agreed upon by congress then to ensure our safety.... And surprise surprise it worked and suited that stage of development in eAustralia.
Is a matter of opinion, also general diplomacy has helped, and there have been countries interested in occupying food bonus territories, both here and elsewhere, especially countries that put more effort into getting more valuable weapons or housing bonuses.
Also I could find no discussion papers that were published at the time, unless I missed them. How may people agreed to this, and what alternatives where proposed and seriously considered? I'm genuinely interested in the facts because I wasn't around at the time.
Also J. Seemore is still waiting on a full, transparent report on MM and CM trading from last term. Your self imposed 24 hour deadline passed some time ago.
So you speak for J Seemore.... Are you his multi? :/
It was discussed in congress and papers were released explaining the regions obtained. But I understand you were not an active eAustralian then, so you might be relying on other peoples information.
Resources where picked based on planned region rental deals and also to make eAustralia a less attractive target, due to the fact that Australia had always been getting wiped for its resources.
If you think I'm a multi report me. I just happen to believe in the cause of transparency and reciprocity.
I read the articles I could find, they didn't seem overly forthcoming but this is nothing new from you.
So which articles did you read from over a year ago?
Resource wars was discussed in detailed in congress. The reasons for the regions that were picked was discussed. An article explaining was released.
For someone who was not involved in the game then, it is quite surprsing that you are so hell bent on thinking something untoward happened.
Now once again you ask me to provide the evidence I am asking from you. Seems like a pattern.
No I asked what articles you read.
I personally am not going to go through old papers to satisfy your whims, when anyone in congress then could tell you what took place
Anyone except you it seems.

The last article is the only official discussion of the details of the resource selection I can find, and takes place after the fact.
The quote is also "why I picked the resources that we ended up…" No mention of anyone else being involved in the decision making process.
Essentially, if the mechanics are similar in the upcoming resource war and only the president has access to the selection mechanics, then we are relying once again on the will of the CP to be open, transparent, consultative, and democratic throughout the whole process. We can't afford to get this wrong and incur a handicap for another year or more.
It was discussed in congress.
If it is run the same as then, there will be limits on some resources and you have to win tokens in wars (or get them via other countries as gifts). Then the CP selects the resource and if they are lucky they get it.
And I doubt our nation being free is a handicap. But since you were such an active and informed player for that year....
Sarcasm I guess, nice to see you attempting to use humour.
I suppose like always I am expected to take your almighty word for things, even if it contradicts what you said publicly at the time.
At least this time we have a chance to have a robust public debate ahead of time.
Feel free to put a well reasoned individual proposal here:

Although you may just prefer to rip others ideas to shreds instead.
I wont need to rip anything into shreds, you and your friends do that quite well yourselves.
*Jaw drops*
... Change...?
That word feels familiar, I'd thought I'd forgotten it...
