Dont vote in the referendum !!!!
Antiko
The whole referendum about the senate is useless and its only being held to use a tricky rule in the constitution.
Because for a proposal of referendum u only need 50%+1 of the votes.
While for abolishing this senate rules u will need 66% in two months after each other.
So the people try to bypass this 66% rule by holding referendum.
The worst part is that the congress didn't even have an vote about it yet.
Also the congress is still talking about ways how we can make the rules for the senate better and multiple people have contributed good suggestions.
So its your duty as citizen to step up against these sneaky people who want to hold useless referenda.
So say NO to this referendum and DONT vote.
Lets send a signal that a referendum is an 'paardenmiddel' and shouldn't be taken so lightly.

My name is Garmr, and I endorse this message.
The constitution doesn't say a referendum can change the constitution, therefore it's at least dubious to think it can. The refendum is a law, and if a law conflicts with the constitution, the constitution prevails over a law. We had such an issue before, can't remember which one exactly.
Nice trick...
@Daniel Parker: From the constitution:
Chapter 8 - Changing the Constitution
Article 25
A) Amendments in the Constitution can be made through either Congress decision or a referendum amongst all eNL citizens.
Amendments through Congress decision follow the rules set forth in the Congress Rules for amendments in eNL laws, with the possible exception that Constitution amendments require 75% of the votes and have to be accepted by the Congress twice, during 2 subsequent governments.
C) Amendments through a referendum follow the rules set forth in the referendum procedural rules, with the possible exception that Constitution amendments require 66% of the votes.
ah thnx broersje! I stand corrected
@ Antiko, referendum needs a 66% majority to change the constitution, so not really a bypass in my eyes.
well u bypass the 2 time voting.
plothole! 😛
Strange you don't want citizens to participate, and advise them to boycot this referendum. A very weak signal to our citizens. Better use this opportunity to point out your own opinion why you think a senate is needed in this country, which could also benefit the knowledge of the common public about the senate. It's really a missed opportunety, and very bad you are performing a "anti" campaign.
We all know how you feel about holding the Senate to account, Antiko, so it's no surprise you want the whole issue brushed under the carpet.
I am against useless referenda, because it always has been hard to get enough people to vote.
So we should only use this as last resort when congress really cant make a decision and when its really important.
In this case we are still discussing how we can improve the senate and there hasnt been a vote for the congress about disbandoning the senate.
The biggest risk is that next time people wont bother to click on the referendum link because last time it was an useless referendum.
I have said multiple times that this should only be used as last resort.
I'm against asking the people what they think through referenda anyway. Elections should be sufficient.
wat zijn eigenlijk de voorwaarden om een referendum te beginnen?
man man, heb dat debat gelezen op het forum, lijkt wel belgië in RL
Well actually the last elections weren't real fair elections...
If a referendum gets accepted, then apparently over 66% of Dutch citizens want it to.
If congress wants a constitution change, the people may not agree, and therefore you need to subsequent congresses to approve the change, so that the citizens have the power to elect congress members based on their point of view on the constitition change.
In other words, this referendum is in no way a bypass. 66% of the citizens can elect 66% of the congress, and hence if they want a change in the constitution, they have the power even without referenda.
