Join the new world

It’s certainly been an eventful month and I’m honoured to have once again represented the East Midlands as your congressman. I’ve been extremely active, spending many hours each day keeping up to date on everything that is going on. I’ve attended every single vote in the commons and voted on every single in-game proposal.

I will be running under the TUP banner as usual but please do not let that dissuade you from voting for me if your allegiance is to another party.

I believe strongly in democracy and you can read more about my views on this in my previous NNA awarded article entitled Why is democracy so important? I also believe that every citizen should have the opportunity to realise their full potential, on a level playing field, regardless of in-game age or political allegiance. I believe that the country should do what is best for the majority of it’s citizens rather than the few. I strongly oppose any elitist or corrupt actions.

I am extremely active in game, on the forums and also on the irc. I was co-founder of an irc channel specifically for the East Midlands. It’s called #EastMidlandsChat and I can be found there most evenings, as can some of the other active East Midlands players and congressmen. Please feel free to drop by, say hello and ask any questions. I’m always available to my constituents. You can contact me on irc or via in-game or forum PMs.

I always like to help and encourage new players. They are the future of the nation and should be encouraged to progress as far as they are able. I have been one of the largest contributors to the East Midlands for a long time and have helped numerous players whether I was in congress or not. I make an effort to greet new players to the forums and offer advice to any player that needs it. Whether I become a congressman or not, you are most welcome to contact me for advice at any time.

I’m easy to contact and respond as quickly as possible.

I am currently working in the Ministry of Home Affairs as the underMinister in charge of the Department for Players. This is my third term as a MoHA underMinister and I have also worked in the Ministry of Trade. This gives me valuable experience within government agencies. My job in the Department for Players is to ensure that our new citizens are well informed. We send messages out to every single new citizen giving them valuable advice and information. We also message them again when they reach level 5, offering further advice. This month we have also been heavily involved in messaging the thousands of people who were stranded in occupied territory. It’s been a busy month and amongst my other responsibilities, I have personally sent thousands of messages. I’m fully committed to helping my nation be as informed and active as possible.

The country is currently going through a transitional period where we are moving from a long invasion to peace on home soil. This game requires war for the improvement of our armies and our citizens. It’s the best way to gain experience points and military ranks. It’s also the best way to keep your wellness high. Wars, however, cost money; lots of money! I will encourage eUK to continue to be involved in daily wars, without breaking the bank. I’d like to see us invade a certain nation (which I won’t mention here) although this is a decision that will ultimately made by the Prime Minister. Alternatively, we will be able to fight in wars that will assist our allies through use of our MPPs. Failing that, we can use training wars or fight for regions that are commonly fought for between us and Sweden. The main thing is that we have battles for our citizens to fight in.

Income tax is at a high, wartime level. This was necessary to fund the constant battles. Now is the time where we should be looking at reducing it. This may have to be a stepped reduction as our economy recovers. In times of peace it is much better for citizens to have a little more money in their pockets. Hopefully this will also help stimulate business.

If I am successful, I will be one of 40 congressmen. As such I cannot make promises to change the nation on my own but I can absolutely guarantee that I will do at least my part. My key ideals and pledges for this term are summarised as follows:

1) To listen and respond to what the constituents of the East Midlands have to say.
2) To support and encourage new players.
3) To support democracy.
4) To support the military and it’s leaders and to encourage daily battles.
5) To encourage activity on the forums and in the military.
6) To vote on every single bill/vote going through parliament or in game.
7) To challenge any proposals that will harm the average, low level player.
😎 To encourage the reduction of income taxes now that the invasion is over.

Apart from that, anything could happen in the coming month. I will be active daily and ready to respond to any situation or bill that comes along.
