Day 1,697, 11:46 Published in Canada USA by GloveisLove

Last night the White House announced that they are no longer pursuing an alliance with Spoland, the reason being that public outlash was too strong and that it was discovered that Poland has no intention of creating a real new alliance, but simply wanted USA and Brazil to join them. I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. The government left Terra in hopes of showing how serious they were in forming this new alliance, but when they asked Poland to leave ONE, Poland refused. Now since the government has exhausted all of its options, eUSA is now “neutral.”

A path of uncertainty.

Anyways, eRO-eBRO

Love is for Free.

Countriess cannot control the actions of citizens. But countries are made up of citizens. If you have been following international news, you would know that a select group of Romanian citizens have been attempting to PTO Brazil for just over a year now. This has been a point of frustration for both Brazil and Romania, Brazil because they had originally let them in so that its allies could enjoy bonuses, and Romania because the citizens are giving the country a bad reputation, and they are seeing Brazilian anger on the battlefield.

eCanada faced a similar situation from a group of Romanians as well, and the Brazilian-Romanian crisis reminded me of it, so I did some research and tried my best to show both sides of the story. And I want to say I have no problem with either Brazil nor Romania, I've even approved hundreds of players citizenships from both nations when I was Immigration Director and President. But I want to find the truth behind this crisis, thus the reason for an article.

😁 Starting from that page onward you see a flood of Romanians joining eCanada.

At the time, tthen President Addy mentioned the PTOers in a few of his articles, this being one of them http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-cp-state-of-the-union-day-1426--1883935/1/20

The Romanian Ptoers were definitely Romanian, but some had acquired South Korean citizenship, and then had re-acquired Romanian citizenship and applied for Canadian citizenship, thus Addy referred to them as “South Koreans” possibly to dispel any tensions between Canada-Romania. And the actual number of Ptoers in Canada was closer to 40+.

So I sat down and talked to Lego-Kun

So I’ve been following the Brozilian-Romanian situation closely as well. What I’ve concluded is that, the majority of the PTOers are from Nemesis (private Romanian MU) and other small affiliated groups, there is an estimated number of around 60+ of them, they are organized, and some Romanian ptoers were endorsed by the government, but the vast majority were not.

So I sat down with EddieJoe, the Brazilian CP when the crisis first began to emerge.

First official Romanian article here about this crisis here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/romania-brazil-1994517/1/20

And recently the the Romanian government published another article, basically saying, we don’t support Nemesis but can’t do anything about them because of game mechanics, try harder Brazil to remove them, good luck.

Article found here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-gov-official-statement-of-eromania-to-our-brazilian-friends--2080111/1/20

Well to be honest I think this second article is kind of pointless, it does not say anything new and doesnt even offer apologies, actually it makes Brazilians sound dumb, I am positive Brazilians know that they have work hard to block the PTOers xD And even compared to the old Romanian article, it is a downgrade in Romanian attitude towards this topic.

But I think from this article this is one of the more interesting comments I saw, a reference to the Romanian South Korea PTO. The author of that comment is Russian.

A Romanian citizen offered another side of the story after this publication:

And also, there was concern about a Nemesis member in eUSA after news of this crisis reached American attention:

But wait, the story gets even juicier.

Recently NEMESIS released an article detailing this situation and thoughts as well. It is a good read, I recommend you read it.

Nemesis article here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/the-horror-pleading-nemesis-brazil-romania-love-story--2080567/1/20

So what do I conclude after all this? Well I conclude that Romania has a history of condemning the actions of their ptoers, but the majority of these ptoers have little trouble re-integrating into their society, some even become famous politicians and join the elite MUs. I conclude that the Brazilian anger can be considered justified, although this anger will not help relations at all and will only make both countries weaker in the long-run. Nemesis is a Romanian faction at arms against their rivals in eRomania, so they might even be purposely trying to destroy relations. I conclude that the actions of the few have unfortunately affected how a whole nation is perceived, but I think more could have been done in order to prevent this, unfortunately not much was done. I conclude that loose immigration policies and confidence in allied nations undermined Brazil’s sovereignty, and has unfortunately led to a strict immigration policy (it is very hard to get Brazilian citizenship now).

So all in all, I have a lot of sympathy for Brazilians and understand their anger, if they want to continue not MPPing Romania I think they are entitled to that right, but it won’t help either nation. And I think Romania has more to lose in this situation, because Brazil can easily keep its bonuses (it is surrounded by fairly weak nations), but Brazilian support at night greatly helps Romania. The only clear benefactor is ONE.
