On that note, you can still read my presentation - its worth it. Just sit down in the Barco-lounger with a cold beer (or two):

Greetings to my fellow Albertans in these exciting and precarious times in eCanadian politics. With this release of the Independent eDaily News, I am officially announcing my run for Congress for the Province of Alberta with the Democratic Action League (DAL) party.

Together with the other DAL members - new citizens and skilled veterans alike - we have put together the following platform that benefits all Canadians. I have adopted this platform wholeheartedly, and should I be elected to Congress in the June elections, I will endeavor to carry out my duties to all Canadians, according to the values expressed in this platform. You can read it at the following link; and I urge you all to do so:

My Platform for all Canadians

As you know, my name is Citizen B. Although I am relatively new to eRepublik, I believe I am well qualified to help lead Canada in the new direction we have been heading as Congressman of Alberta. I am a strong believer in Alberta and will continue to build the great history of the Albertan Province. It was Stephen Harper who said, "It is imperative to take the initiative, to build firewalls around Alberta, to limit the extent to which an aggressive and hostile federal government can encroach upon legitimate provincial jurisdiction." Well, I may not go that far - I am certainly not a separatist. But I believe in the diversity, the resources and the great citizens and organizations of this province. Major points of my platform that I will be focusing on during my term are as follows:

Government reform - we have made some strides in improvement to the Canadian government since the previous administrations, but we have a lot more work to do. The Cobra situation has shown that there are still disreputable citizens operating the Canadian government. It time to vote out the remaining long-time incumbents and bring new dedicated Canadian citizens into office. I fit that bill. And I will help the administration root out any traitorous scoundrels that may still be lingering. I will also focus on additional governmental openness by continuing the great strides made by the current administration in holding open congressional debate in the Canadian forums.

Economics - there are currently some serious problems with the economy. The new administration under Jacobi has made some strides, but progress has been very slow. Meanwhile Canadian businesses are bleeding out dry. Jobs are being lost and salaries lowered. That the current batch of Congresspersons actually tried recently to lower the pitiful minimum wage is appalling. This is not the way to fix the economy. For us to be successful, and for new citizens to experience the prosperity that Canada can truly offer, Canadian businesses must be able to be competitive in our own markets and export their products to other countries, as well. Right now, just the opposite is true. Canadian businesses are having trouble selling their products, and foreign companies routinely flood our markets with cheaply made goods. To see our businesses prosperous and have plentiful amounts of well paying jobs requires a two-fold strategy. First import tariffs must be raised to competitive levels matching those in other countries that with the same high resources. I am not talking about 99% import tariffs, but certainly higher levels than we have now. When entire industries, like the grain industry for example, are going bankrupt, small test increases to the tariffs are not quick enough to solve our problems. We have seen that. Larger steps in the tariff increases are necessary. If they prove too high, then we can lower them in baby steps. At the same time, the value of the loonie (Canadian dollar) must be reduced to levels that place prices of Canadian products in line with that of other high producing nations. Some are concerned that their dollar will no longer be worth the same amount of gold, but it will not matter when you are making a lot more. Reductions in global value have shown in the past equal increases in salary. Our present level has not worked and it is my goal to fix that. Then we would likely be able to raise the minimum wage. And if we have more Canadian businesses profiting, we will have more income to support the CAF, Canadian social services, and other government organizations - without raising income taxes.

Defense and Security - right now, with the advent of the Cobra terrorist organization, Canadian security has never been more at risk. I pledge to work with the full Canadian government administration including Congress and the President, CSIS, the Supreme Court, and the Attorney General to root out government moles and traitorous citizens to destroy Cobra and any citizen found to support Cobra in any way. These people will be tried, and if found guilty, be permanently banned from Canada for ever. The same applies to corrupt government ministers who have put Canada in danger by stealing the funds to support the most important of Canadian governmental entities - the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). After the economy, supporting the CAF is our most important mission. Without a strong economy, we won't have stockpiled gold and weapons should Canada find herself under attack. Military training is also tantamount to the future security of Canada. Because of the current economic crises, we have barely been able to hold a lousy training war every three days. I pledge to do what we can to find the gold, and work with our allies, to hold training wars every day, to build up the strength of the CAF and citizen militia. Likewise, I believe in strong global alliances. Our safety depends on the military help of our allies, and the security of our borders. And for the record - I say no to PEACE.

New Canadian Citizens - no DAL presentation would be complete without a discussion of our new citizens. Every day, a dozen or more new players join eRepublik in the great nation of Canada. These new citizens are the future blood of Canada. They are the workers we need to grow our business. They are the business owners we need to grow our economy. They are the newspaper writers we need to educate, entertain, and grow our diversity. They are the voters we need to bring the government accountability that we have so sorely needed for a long time. These are the politicians we need to improve our government and build our great society. And they are the CAF soldiers we need to make Canada strong against the threats we face in this world. I have spent countless hours contacting our new citizens through my activities as the DAL Recruitment Committee Chairperson. Time and time again, I find that the Canadian government and other organizations are failing our new citizens. They are not learning how to be successful at eRepublik. Many become frustrated and leave. If we fail these new citizens - we fail Canada itself. As Congressmen, I will endeavor to take steps to ensure a systematic program is in place to help these new citizens and help Canada itself. I will also endeavor to take steps to reestablish the Canadian University, that the previous administration has let fall by the wayside.

Many of you are wondering about the personal side of Citizen B. Who is Citizen B? (Besides a citizen with a talent for writing a long and possibly boring presentation.) I am new here - but not new enough to make the mistakes I see many others in Congress making. In my other world (RL), I am a successful business person skilled at international trade, negotiation and business. I am a Project Manager and run multi-million dollar international technology projects. I have been very successful in RL, and to this date, have been very successful in eR as well. I run a successful Canadian business and organization. As Recruiting Committee Chairman for the DAL party, I have helped grow that party by close to 400% in less than one month. I have quickly achieved the rank of Lieutenant on the battlefield. And I have been active in the eCanada forums as well as the DAL forums. I have made many friends in this eWorld - over 480 to date. (That is more than the membership of any political party in Canada.) I have petitioned for an ambassadorship with the Canadian government and am awaiting my post now. I am highly motivated and ambitious. I am not power hungry. I plan to bring this verve to my duties as a Congressmen of Canada. I plan to run an honest, ethical, clean political campaign. I feel I am as qualified, if not more qualified, than my worthy opponents in this race, even if I don't yet have the 'shingles' to hang on my congressional office wall. While my opponents are worthy, I believe a fair comparison cannot be made without a short, honest discussion of each of them that I am familiar with. Running against me are:

Duke Leto - CSD - is a four time Congressmen and a friend of mine. Duke has been a good representative for the Albertans, but its time for some new blood. Duke is very active in the government. Duke has been Congressman four times. But I think many of us have been looking for a new government. As Minister of Foreign Affairs, Duke is responsible for assigning Canadian ambassadorships. I have watched the slow progress being made in the eCanadian government forum in this regard. Since the last congressional elections, relatively no progress has been made. I am waiting on an ambassadorship that I petitioned for three weeks ago. There has been absolutely no progress. There are some hundred or so countries in eRepublik, yet Canada has only about 15 ambassadors. At least the current administration has made much progress from the previous administration, and actually figured out who our ambassadors are, but they have not been on the ball here. To be a power in the world, and to keep tabs on our friends and enemies alike, Canada should have an ambassador in every country. As congressman, I will get this done.

Dean22 - CSD - is a long time experienced eCanada player, and a friend of mine. However, there is a lot of controversy surrounding Dean22. Right or wrong, Dean22 was banished from Canada for many months by the Canadian government. That may have been unjustified, as the Supreme Court has ruled that banning Dean22 from eCanada was illegal. There has been talk of Dean22 being connected with Cobra. The Cobra terrorist organization has publically endorsed Dean22 for Congress. From what I have been reading in the Canadian press, it would seem that Dean22 is mortal enemies with our past Canadian President, Bruck. (That could be a good thing.) Dean22 has only recently - one week or so ago - moved back to eCanada after a long absence. I personally believe that Dean22 is an outstanding eCanadian citizen, and yes - a war hero. But I feel that we right now, we don't need the distractions and controversy that Dean22 or his detractors may bring to Congress. And yes, as Dean22 wrote - he is the richest man in eCanada; but certainly not the most modest. I believe that Dean22 should humbly show his worth in eCanadian civilian life for a few months, prior to once again running for Congress.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MS7l6i4w11U&feature=related”>BauDiMon – CEP - I don't know much about BauDiMon, other than that his presentation is a JFK speech against government secrecy. BauDiMon has not bothered to put his plans into words, and has taken the quick and easy way out by presenting nothing original. By deduction, we must believe that the CEP candidates plan to give us more of the same CEP failing policy and action that we have tried for so long to change. Funny think is regarding the JFK speech is that, as many of us know, the CEP party in the past has been known for being a secretive party, and perhaps the most unaccountable Congress in eCanadian history. CEP did make some strides in improving the openness in eCanadian government, as it was pointed out to my by Goran Thrax. But I feel they have not done enough. It is hard for me to believe that the CEP has completely changed their ways. And if you feel like I do, it is time for a change. BauDiMon is a relatively new citizen, like myself, but brings with him the baggage of the CEP that we have for so long been trying to unshackle ourselves from. Do we really want to reverse course now, and go back to wrecked economy, and government corruption that that got the CEP removed from power? I urge even the CEP membership that live in Alberta, to pick at least someone that bothered to write a presentation.

Unthak Jones - CEP – Unthak Jones was recently switched by CEP to run in place of Orvy. I will follow up with a discussion here if I have time.

Parachuter - PPC - is also a relatively new Canadian citizen. Parachuter's presentation condemns government corruption and pledges to bring Q5 hospitals to every province in Canada. Not much more. Although I agree with Parachuter, he has not said how he plans to achieve these goals. There is nothing about the economy - the primary task, if we want to have the money to build these hospitals. I am a little concerned that we have not heard about his plans for the safety or security of Canada, nor nothing about foreign affairs. Perhaps it is inexperience and Parachuter cannot be faulted on that. But one could expect somewhat more of a plan before putting Canada in his hands. To boot, I am seriously concerned about that the PPC could not even muster up a second candidate in Alberta, and has put a CEP member on their ticket:

Gofarman - CEP is a well-known member of CEP running on the PPC ticket. So, the CEP actually has three members running in Alberta. Gofarman has been a four-time CEP member of Congress. His presentation is simply a link to the CEP party platform, which does not surprise me. My past experience with Gofarman have been through his rude and condescending, very poorly worded, replies to my PMs, when I was asking for help as a new citizen. When it comes to eloquence, Obama, he is not. Gofarman is a member of the previous 'elite' CEP ruling cabal. He is Bruck's right-hand man. And in my opinion, Gofarman has been one of the poorest government officials that we have had in Congress. My guess is that Gofarman did not write a presentation, because in spite of being in Congress four terms, he has done absolutely nothing that he could think to write about. (Except to be granted a loan of gold by the Minister of Finance that he has yet to return one dime of.) Do we really want to see Gofarman continue running Congress into the ground? I think not.

Regarding the CPP and the PNQ, right now it is a neck and neck battle for placement in the top five parties, and the outcome is not determined as to who will be able to run candidates in Alberta. So I have chosen to leave discussions of their candidates out of this article for the time being.

If you are still with me, after this long-winded discussion, I apologize and I applaud your stamina. Your dedication shows that you too will probably make a fine Canadian congressperson one day. I believe, at least, that my effort and thoughts put into this presentation shows that I am serious. And it shows that I have the energy and drive to work hard in Congress and help Canada be the country in this eWorld that is rightfully should be - number one. Please show me your support on election day and vote for me - Citizen B. I will not let you down.
