Canada = Somalia
Augustus Baldwin
Welcome to the "New" Canada
What has Canada become? Simple: a failed state.
Canada today is a running gun battle between various militia groups, the newsest being the unfortunately named Long Sword Rebellion, who are in no way accountable to the elected government of Canada.
A month ago I wrote an article titled "How To Stage a Coup in eRepublik." This article was a critique of the CPF's failed "coup" against then-President Chucky Norris. Chucky commented in it saying how the military would never rebel against him. Today, Chucky Norris and his "Long Sword Rebellion" (Rea
😛the military, but not the military's commander I am told, who opposes this mutiny) are perpetrating a coup, not against the CPF specifically, but against eCanadian democracy in general.
Read my old article, it is very telling of the current situation.
The Long Sword Rebellion's members claim they are just trying to help Canada. And they are. As much as Saddam Hussein was trying to help Iraq when he came to power. Or as much as Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi was trying to help his country when he seized power in Libya. Or as much as Augusto Pinochet was trying to make his government better when he overthrew the elected Allende government in Chile.
Are you seeing a pattern here? Respectable, democratic states do not have coups. Failed states and banana republics have coups.
Respectable, democratic states do not have unaccountable militias. Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq have unaccountable militias.
Today, Canada apparently has both.
Canada in Distress
The traditional motto of Canada was Peace, Order and Good Government.
What is it now?
Members of the Long Sword Rebellion do not believe in this motto. They are destroying the peace, demolishing the order, and eliminating the concept of good, responsible government. And they are doing it with open support from foreign powers (Rea
😛Sweden, but who else?).
Anyone who supports the Long Sword Rebellion is not a loyal Canadian. They are guilty of sedition. There is no "arguing" around it, its a textbook case, sedition by every syllable of the word.
Now how can we, the average, loyal Canadians, save our country from the status of a failed state? How can we stop the Long Sword Rebellion and all the other militias from turning Canada into the next Somalia?
Simple: Reform the military.
Sometimes an institution becomes so intrinsically corrupted, so irrevocably flawed, so fundamentally broken, that you must take two steps backwards before you can take one forward. The fact that this new milita has formed from the very core of what was supposed to be an apolitical national institution means that half-measures and band-aid solutions are no longer acceptable. There must be a total reform. As anyone with any education on the subject knows, a liberal democratic system cannot exist with a military force not under civilian control.
Step 1- Dissolve it.
Step 2- Reconstitute it from the ground up using only loyal Canadian personnel.
Step 3- Give the various private militias that roam Canada with impunity a choice: Either pledge allegiance to the government, and have your upper command structure integrated into that of the loyal Canadian military, or have nothing to do with Canada whatsoever. The government does not need to control the militas directly, but if they want to be associated with Canada then their leaders must be beholden to the rule of law and Congress.
If the miltias do not want to be accountable then thats fine too. They can still be a militia, there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, I support private military ventures. But remember, you are a mercenary militia. Your not a Canadian militia, and your involvement in the government is as welcome as the involvement of a Romanian or Hungarian mercenary militia.
You cannot just PTO as you please!
So remember folks, today Canada is in distress. And its not because of the lulz, and its not because of the partisanship. It is because we have groups like the Long Sword Rebellion, who think they are above the law.
Is this your government?
Is this your government?
Is this your government?
Not MY government. Canada has a cancer, and its up to YOU to cut it out.
Comments
Oh wow, for a second I almost forgot this isn't RL.
Augustus Baldwin for BEST ROOKIE
Rookie of the year
lmao, the US looks more appealing everyday
you don't cut cancers out
Your burn them out
Chucky made me do it.
you want to dissolve your military and start over?
dude i dont know you and stuff but your kinda a douche nozzle no?
I am a douche nozzle yes, so you do know me.
@Augustus...well played.
Tho this Role Play stuff still makes me ill
a civil war module sure would be interesting in a situation like this.
What role play Lex? I dont think ur familiar with the situation...
Seriously, this article confuses me. Somalia hasnt been added as a country in erepublik, nor has libya, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
McSkittles are you familiar with the concept of analogy?
The big question is if the CAF is an irreducible part of eCanada. Can we exist without it, or rather a much reformed version of what binds the country together across all the parties?
One such way to remove the irreducible is to claim the whole no longer exists. AB, are you saying Canada, even for all its complexity, has ceased to be?
~~~~~~
"Irreducible complexity is a term used to describe a characteristic of certain complex systems whereby they need all of their individual component parts in place in order to function. In other words, it is impossible to reduce the complexity of (or to simplify) an irreducibly complex system by removing any of its component parts and still maintain its functionality."
He isn't Kushskins, but I will explain it to him. McSkittles an analogy is kind of like... oh, i guess that wont work...
Jealous that you did not come up with this by chance?
I'm thinking that your issue is with the possibility of some kind of order being ushered in and not having center stage yourself. Get rid of some of the clowns and your fan club is diminished.
@ captain my captain: No but I am familiar with the concept of using unrelated real world examples in an attempt to evoke an emotional response, in which the atrocities that occurred in said countries make this "dangerous revolution" look like a...video game.
My fan club is transnational, you can't eliminate ALL the clowns EVERYWHERE, Jake.
I'm a galloping ghost.
So true
Your avatar confuses me Mr. Baldwin. I'm dumb or something. It took me a couple of minutes to realize that it was like anti-smoking sign.
Dissolving your military would be wildly irresponsible, particularly at this juncture in international affairs. Perhaps you should try listening to your military and not treating them poorly as an alternative.
Oh AB its not the reaction of the eCanadian's of longsword thats the problem, this wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for what has gone before it.
Tamas: Ends do not justify the Means.
What else is there to do AB?
Congress is a joke and the political system off game has been ripped to shreds.
Or as much as Colonel Sanders helps chickens?
There's nothing wrong with the military that a hot bath and some growing up couldn't fix. It's the real life role playing government that's crap.
Tear it down.
Let me remind everyone Coda (Leader of the CAF ((I forgot what her title is))) does not approve of this. She is going to be thrown under the bus after all of this. Internationally she will be seen as someone who can't control her Military, And Canada will be seen as a country that can't control her Military... And when PENIX sees that Canada Military is falling apart I sure they will have no problem clicking the attack button. And what a great time for a military unrest you know with the high demand for Titanium in V2.
Tamas thats the same argument every right-wing coup makes. From Turkey, to Spain, to Burma.
Reform the Military.
Excellent idea........
Hey funny. AB talking about loyalty. Go on, I want to hear more.
For a second I thought you would label us with cobra, oh no it's real, when AB try to force a governement hands it's Loyalty to the nation and if someone does it, well it's plain treason. Sorry for the misunderstanding I will not make that mistake again.
Soldiers before Politicians.
Im willing to admit your as bad as me Chucky, just so long as your willing to admit your as bad as me.
COBRA= Long Sword Rebellion.
I am glad we all agree...
This is quite a hilarious use of hyperbole Augustus.
Also, Long live the Long Swords!!!
Ok, I'll agree to that! Mind changing your article too?
When did I say in the article that I wasn't as bad as you?
"COBRA= Long Sword Rebellion"
Except that COBRA wasn't publicly spearheaded by a former (and recent!) prime minister. Nor did they--to the best of my recollection--declare their intention to take over congress (i.e. take over the country)
In my book those are a couple of fairly significant differences
''Now how can we, the average, loyal Canadians, save our country from the status of a failed state? ''
😁
"The traditional motto of Canada was Peace, Order and Good Government."
And it shall be once again! I cannot wait for some good government.
I wanna be eCanadian.
Pirates...
Long swords = Long knives.
I knew a PTO couldn't be that far off...especially since admin makes Treasure Maps...
lets form a mob and shave chuck norris' beard off.
So CAF who are in the reserves should not run for congress?
How can you call this a rebellion if your entire movement consists of the eCanada Elite, long term congress memebers ? Aren't these the same people who are the cause of everything you are "rebelling" against ? And isn't the CAF a government funded entity ? The same government you are suppose to be "rebelling" against ?
Are you all sure you understand what the word REBELLION means ? I am not an English major, but I can assume it does not mean, "a strategic way to gain even more power".
no CrazyMofo13, Most of the people involved in this are non CAF. They are mostly citizens.
"no CrazyMofo13, Most of the people involved in this are non CAF. They are mostly citizens"
My main issue with this is it was presented as a CAF initiative and I have problems with that. If in fact it is the grass roots citizens who have had enough then I would applaud that as I have had enough of the nonsense for quite some time.
Some of those whom I have seen complain about this are people who have time and time again preached the game mechanics side of things as a defense for their antics, well here we see game mechanics in action.
I love it when a noob pwns a bunch of old heads
I pledge allegiance to the government.
Reform the military it wont do nothing we will eat you from the inside!!!!! Muahahaha.... *cough*
Yes AB that article is weird, it cant be you that wrote that. Unless you are jealous that you arent the master mind behind all this!
and how is the present Iraqi government which is completely selling off it's assets and natural resources to the big oil tycoons any better?
