Beta GIANT - Good Leadership

Beta GIANT
Beta Giants, for those new to the game these are players who have been in eRep since the Jurassic period. They are few and spread out around the world. Sort of like the WW2 soldiers still alive today in RL. The majority of Beta era players have either quit, or been banned for one reason or another. Of the few left many seem to be 2 clicking. Although there are more then a few active Beta giants its safe to say that Beta players are a dying breed. In RL the older you get the wiser you get, it is so also in eRep. Mr. Franco also know as Harrison Richardson is part of that dying breed and is among the wisest players in eRep today. He has been around since the early stages of eRep and has held more positions then I have hair on my head. He is the only person to have been president 2 separate times(half a terms as Mr. Franco and one term as Harrison Richardson) he has held various positions under numerous administrations, most notably as Secretary of State under former president Scrabman where he worked till the end of Scrabmans presidency. Most know him as Harrison Richardson, former eAmerican president, elected days before PEACE invaded North America. Because of the way things went in the early stages of the war many have grown to dislike Harrison, often just because others do. Or (like I did in my noob days) their opinion of him is based purely on his valiant but ultimately failed attempt to halt our losses at the hands of PEACE. After coming close but loosing to Emerick in the presidential elections he took a step back from everyday occurrences. He never quit but was a bit less active then in his presidential days. Recently he has been busy, one thing is for sure he has been watching the political world, throwing his weight behind the Democratic Party (currently their president) and behind Woxan in the last elections. Check his news paper Harry Dick Times for his recent writing. Many Beta giants are respected players, looked up to by many a eAmerican, like RL, respect cant be bought, only earned. Just take a glimpse at the eLife of this man Franco/Harrison eLife and you'll know Harrison has more then earned respect in eRep.

Good Leadership
Congress elections are over, several winners have been announced. I see some good players and a few bad ones have been elected. I'm happy to see that the majority are good players, committed to truly representing their states and the people residing there. Unfortunately I also see a few player who got elected purely by popularity and not because of what they stand for and or believe in. This is due to poor judgment on our part. Elections are important, its a chance to voice your opinion and show support for a candidate worth your vote. Like I said the congress election is over, we will have to deal with the good and the bad that now represent the collective US states.
However their is no reason why we should have questionable players in office. The few bad seeds now in office is OUR fault. as a nation its up to us to elect the best into office, anything less and we are in effect hurting ourselves. People who voted for a candidate just because he or she is their parties candidate makes them little more then puppets. People who chose their candidate because he or she is popular need to stop acting like these elections in any way resemble a high school election. Voting this way limits the purpose that elections where created for. I stress the need to check out each candidates platform, read it carefully.
Take note of those who offer their voting records to the public, those who do should catch your attention. It is every Americans duty to vote for a candidate who will best serve the American people. Refrain from voting on orders from your party, or because that candidate is your friend. The presidential elections is up next, you will be bombarded with shouts, propaganda, PMs. Ignore these deceiving tactics. Spend a few minutes reading up on each candidate, common sense will guide you to the right one. Remember every vote counts, vote as if its solely up to you who gets elected. Put that responsibility on your shoulders, you will quickly vote much more carefully and consequently much more wisely.

Editor's Corner - Support Groups With A Responsibility
There are certain groups whose jobs were specifically created to keep the country strong. Strong in the sense of safe; strong in the sense of fair, useful and enforced laws; strong in the sense of educated citizens; strong in the sense of talented leaders with the best interest of the country at heart. These groups include:
1. Elected officials
2. Military personnel and veterans
By understanding the issues these groups face; by supporting and challenging them when appropriate; and by ensuring that these groups attract the most talented individuals and have the resources they need to carry out their functions, we can help them do a better job and make the country a better place to live.

They shaped it all right.
Quicksilver
Quicksilver is alive ... NOOOOOOO, hungarz was failing just fine (read EPIC) without you in their attack on croatia 😃
Beta giants are p cool guys.
Beta players rule! Yeah!
thank you.
If I hadn't stopped playing for so long, I could be so strong right now...
Trivia sucked
The Beta is gone and dead, fortunatly the experience and knowledge is passed on to our new Giants.
/Kape, Day 66
Sweden, The land of the Beta Giants
Excuse me, Thisgenmedia/Franco/Harrison is a terrible beta player who has cheated and abused the game since he first stepped in it.
Let's not forget his strange attempted political take overs of multiple countries as Teacher/Watcher with his twisted belief system. Of course, being banned several times only spurs him on to do more harm.
Beta Giant is nothing special, only players who played to long to accept that they(we) are now useless.
The Time of the Beta Playing Users is over, now the eWorld got govern by V1 Players, anyway noone wine.
The only Good thing, what happened with the End of the Beta-Giants-Era, is that Sweden isn't anymore a World Power, only a wanna-bee.
@ Captian Briggs
I'm no HR fan but you just had to add your two measly sense in didn't you? Bit uncalled for.
Voted and sub
At those commenting in this thread- there are just as many V1 cheaters around now as during the beta days if not MORE. It's amazing the amount of bitterness around Erepublik from V1 players toward the beta players! IMO- a lot of that vitriol should be aimed at the admins for allowing such exploits.
Respect to the beta giants!
A Beta junior, Finsoldier, day 280.
*grins politely*
I don't think it makes you special if you found this game before others. Mostly I respect the Beta players as normal players, I don't particularly like the ones that made mountains of gold during Beta with a failed economic system where a company would make you rich over night . Some of those people are even now spread out around the world screwing with countries economies because their wealth permits it.
Beta Giant and proud to be so. The article is right in that most of us live quietly, just like most of the V1 players do. Our main value is in the lessons we've learned over the months. With so many new players coming in all the time (at least here in the US), the more longtime players who are around to teach and advise, the better.
Isy: I'm not sure what fantasy land you live in, bud. The prominent Betas still make up the majority of the players you'd consider rich and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. We've passed the point of major losses due to attrition, and our eDeath rate is very low. While we have held the majority of the high political positions, V1 players have had a large presence in government for quite some time. It is a mixture and will remain so until we Betas do finally die out...but don't hold your breath.

BETA GIANT PRIDE
Beta Giants FTW. Jealousy swirls around us, but we brush it off like crumbs from the delicious sandwiches that only we can afford with our beta gold. Mmm...beta sandwich.
Good article. 😁
Voted, but you're going to have to do more than beg to get me to subscribe. I don't do the I'll-subscribe-to-you-if-you-subscribe-t o-me jazz. For someone touting the might of the Beta giants, you have to beg to get others to read your paper and subscribe? Isn't there something slightly pathetic in that?
I'm a beta midget!
But I'm pobably the oldest one who comment this.
Beta Giants FTW
993
I'm still around
BETA Giants also have been known to refuse to change with the times. Some of your examples are much like their WW2 counterparts - old, grumpy, refusing to accept that times have changed and the game is different.
I think this is a good article. Of course many others have their own opinions, but they didnt write a nice big fat article about it🙂 you expressed your opinion and thats what journalism is about. 🙂
Good article !!
#1000!
Don't sound so butthurt cuz beta giants are better than you.
😃
Большей бредятины в жизни не читал.
Glad you guys liked the article🙂
For those hating...get a eLife.
You think so Jewitt?
I think the Betas are the first to welcome change, tbh.
I don't think V1 players have "vitriol" towards Beta players, as much as we may be weary of the cult-following of the Beta players. That and the occasional rampant narcissism, but you can find that anywhere, although the followers here seem to bring it out of the Betas more than usual.
Wondering whats going on in South Africa? Our next Presidential Election will be very exciting, read up!

Truth be told, I've seen better leadership coming from newer players. It's some of those older, beta players, that put us in a situation where our country was nearly destroyed altogether.
i am a beta giant. i am pierrc bross. but i wasn't banned multiple times for cheating. anyone who cheats is instantly a terrible player and they should never be celebrated or encouraged.
