Kallmar, the French ambassador, is doing a series of articles on the eCzech Republic and interviewed me for it.

Kallmar: Can you tell us about your life before being president of the Czech Republic?
FM: I have been born into eRepublik Beta. That is the pre-V1 beta, not V2 Beta. Things were different, simpler, especially after Rising. I have been born to the eCzech Republic and never left it, unless my region got invaded by another country, which tended to happen from time to time. eCR used to be a multi-cultural nation, for reasons that the game wasn’t very popular with RL Czechs and that several other nations either weren’t in the game yet or got erased from the map. Game-wise, they all considered themselves Czechs at heart and did many great things for our country. It’s marvellous that we’ve been able to survive this long here in Central Europe, clenched between superpowers, with almost no resources. As for what I did, I was a cardinal for the pre-V1 First Church and have been a congressman for several terms. I’ve always tried to do the best for my country.
Kallmar: How did you become president, and why?
FM: I was originally going to candidate for presidency last term, but then Red_Baxter stepped up saying that he had the support of Slovakia, and since Slovakia was a pretty hot topic, I stepped down from my candidature and let him become the president for a term. Once that was over, I could finally candidate and successfully became president with the majority of votes and support of 3 parties. I became president to help my country, of course, and because I’m the only active Czech willing to take the responsibility, and a RL Czech at that as well, which helps in the relations with Slovakia.
Kallmar: So far what have you done during your tenure?
FM: Oh, quite a lot. The coming of Rising/V2 took the world by surprise and changed many things. The economy was in ruins, but we revitalized it. We provided jobs, helped sustaining them and supported citizens, especially dying ones. We are steadily getting the country back on its feet and hope to keep it strong for a long time.
Kallmar: In terms of Foreign Affairs, that can say, what you did during your tenure?
FM: Also a lot. We’ve negotiated help with many countries and organizations, in case Slovakia decides to attack, and gathered support in case we need to liberate Moravia by force, including countries such as UK and France. We’ve attended the first eRepublik World Summit and plan to attend it again, to keep up with the world matters and happenings in V2. And last but not least, we’ve joined the newly founded alliance called ONE, which I think is a very important step for our country with great perspective.
Kallmar: What are your plans for the end of your term?
FM: The last big thing I’d like to do before my time as the president ends is get Moravia back, and generally make our relationships with Slovakia better. This seems to be rather hard though, since the currently running referendum about what our countries relations should be doesn’t seem to have an end in sight.
Kallmar: What is the popular opinion about your mandate?
FM: It’s hard to tell. I have heard praise and have many supporters in my government, but then again an impeachment vote has been called against me twice 🙂 It obviously didn’t pass and I’ve never heard anything negative said about me, so I could say it’s mostly positive.
Kallmar: What do you think of EDEN?
FM: I have no strong opinions of it, but it’s interesting to watch the fluctuating rise and fall of the alliance, as well as its bickering with Phoenix.
Kallmar: What do you think of Phoenix?
FM: With Phoenix it’s mostly positive. Phoenix members have oftentimes helped or supported us in times of need while asking very little in return. It’s an alliance as should be, but even though there’ve been some suggestions, it’s unthinkable for us to join the alliance, as we would’ve been torn to shreds by its enemies.
Kallmar: And how do you see your neighbors Slovaks and Poles, politically speaking, their choice of foreign affairs, their opinions in relation to you?
FM: Ah, Slovaks always seem to have a thing with us, and by proxy Poles as well, given how close the nations are. I honestly don’t see what the fuss is about all this time, but I’ll say that their recent invasions were absolutely unprovoked and uncalled for and should be frowned upon. Really, the reason for their last invasion of Moravia was that we tried to declare war on them in V2 beta (to test the new war module) when nothing that happens in the beta matters, and the war proposal never got accepted due to bugs! I also don’t agree with their various claims of eCzechia being a “pirate” nation full of thieves and parasites, and their related extreme plans of making eCzechia a protectorate or erasing us from the map completely, which would solve absolutely nothing in the long run.
Kallmar: For France, what do you think of its foreign policy and its alliance ENTENTE?
FM: I think its foreign policy is very welcoming and supportive, especially towards us, and it’s always good to see strong alliances rise other than EDEN or Phoenix.
Kallmar: Finally, the elections are approaching, you would support your Minister of Foreign Affairs: Re_Niew, candidate for the presidency?
FM: Even though we’re good friends with Re_Niew and have been cooperating very closely for the past few months, I think his sudden candidacy for country president has the potential to make our relations with Slovakia even worse, as he’s not RL Czech and probably won’t employ many of them in the government, which seems to be Slovakia’s great argument against us. All in all, it doesn’t matter which one of us gets elected as the president since we have the same goals and are always cooperating closely, but given the situation with Slovakia, I think I’m the better option.
