Resistance Wars

This would seem to be common sense, but if you are currently living in a US state being held by Canada, wouldn't it be wise to NOT start a resistance war? I am seriously asking here, someone with some knowledge please let me know.

Also, I was pleased to see that South Australia was taken back from the Indonesians by an Aussie Resistance Force.
