(RR#3) Trial of the Century, and an Arrogance Rant

Day 1,872, 14:10 Published in Japan Japan by Myung Kei

It has been a while since I have written a formal article such as this, but seeing as how things are so interesting atm, I thought it would be great to revive this. Ready? Okay!

The Headlines: #Court Returns!

About a year or so ago I decided to set up a fake courtroom and hold mock trials, because honestly, who doesn't like the "Lulz" that ensues. This fake courtroom, known on the IRC as #court, was thus constructed. Over the course of its existence, the #Court has heard numerous trials concerning Witchcraft, eAssasination, Bronying, eExtortion, and Child Custody. As always we try to keep it both serious and silly at the same time.

We also conduct eMarriages, I've done one before.

The People of eJapan (Mii) v.s. Koragi

It was the trial of the century, where citizen Koragi was accused of blatant CAPSLOCK use in the IRC. Arguing the case for the state of eJapan was Prosecutor Mii, coming fully prepared with evidence showing Koragi had indeed, used capslock 30 minutes before the trial. Representing the accused was BobbySauron, a state appointed lawyer who mustered a brilliant last minute defense through excellent cross-examinations and counter-evidence. Our star witness (and unfortunately for this trial, only witness) was Hizaya, allegedly at the scene of the crime. Yours truly oversaw the proceedings as the Judge. After several minutes of deliberation, the jury (anonymous eCitizens), was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Thus, as the Judge I had to declare a mistrial, and we may never have a trial like it again.

Okay, Okay! If you want to start an "eTrial" simply log onto the IRC, join #nippon, accuse someone of doing something (with their consent ofc), and we can hold a trial in #court! This section is dismissed!

Election Bonanza!

Good luck out there to the election front runners: Oraizan and Akki! Akki, current Party President of the ULJ and Vice President of eJapan, is one of eJapan's oldest citizens and a world class hermit. Akki, with amazing troll powers, can disarm most ranting people in a matter of seconds. His article is here. Oraizan, current Party President of the SoS Brigade and is eJapan's CoT representative, is a Swedish Canadian lol. Oraizan has been known to hold a various string of lovers, most notably Tohru; BobbySauron has claimed her affection for a long time. Her article is here. Though the ISP is supporting Oraizan this election, I would like to wish both candidates, Oraizan and Akki, good luck!

Sorry Hizaya . . .

World Events: EDEN on the ropes?

Not according to the Greek Government. EDEN, one of the oldest super alliance in eRepublik, has been rumored to be limping along for months now. With the entente between the CoT and TWO it looked as if EDEN was both outnumbered and outmatched in terms of military strength. And to some, the alliances' recent defeats have been an acknowledgement of such a rumor.

EDEN HQ gives three reasons why they are still alive:

1. EDEN has befriended many "Tanks" and Private MU's
2. Alliance swapping is a growing trend
3. Damage by EDEN countries has become focused on select battles, rather than spreading forces across fronts

I remember EDEN back in the day, being the coolest thing since sliced bread and Parker Bros. Let's see if this alliance will continue being that way.

eUSA and Ajay: ...Again...

Speaking of Presidential Elections happening Tomorrow/Today (depending on when you read this), there is also an interesting race just across the Pacific Pond, as shown here. For perhaps the umpteenth million time eRepublik's favorite character, Ajay Bruno, now patriotically known as Ronald Gipper Reagan, shall be running for eUSA president.

Now, why is RGR, or Pizza the Hut, or Ajay Bruno as he is known, such a fascinating character. Well, do you know what October 18th is in eRepublik? If you answered "a few days after Empress Day," you would be right. But it is also Banhammer Day, the day this individual was suspended for administering multiple accounts in 2009. Since then, through reincarnation after reincarnation, Ajay never stops to amuse and infuriate the eUSA community. My fellow monopoly lover Ligtreb so eloquently describes these sentiments.

Good Luck to the eUSA, they will need it.

My Opinion: Arrogance v.s. Humility, or Who Really Supports "Unity"?

This is the part where I rant after something or someone really gets on my nerves, and where I jump from judicious to viscous. Ladies, cover your screens, everyone hide the children.

Okay, so it goes along these lines: This month, eJapan will be electing a new president to replace KP, who has put in his two terms as president. It all comes down to Akki, who is supported by the ULJ plus the DNP, and Oraizan, who is supported by the SSG/SoS/ISP alliance. While Akki has the advantage being supported by the top two parties, an electoral upset is unheard of. Again, though my party supports Oraizan, Akki has served as president multiple times before and would continue making great contributing to eJapan. Most notably, I agree with Akki that the current immigration law is broken and should be redesigned to make more sense. This has nothing to do with him.

However, while going to comment in Oraizan's article I noticed a certain individual posted this:

This particular person sent me over the edge, and I have several problems with this.

First off, who gave this person the god given right to tell people what "Unity" is and who represents unity? The only person in eHistory who held even a shred of such authority was Kokawa, and even in this context he steered very clear of the political realm. I am tired of this person acting as if he is the lord on high, commanding us simple serfs and peasants what we should and should not think. I am sick and tired of this person acting like an insufferable know it all who thinks they are so invaluable to eJapan that we must obey them. I'm tired of this person running away from criticism and taking cheap shots from afar.
They may control a large party.
They may have a lot of eMoney.
They may run a large MU.
But all of this is meaningless without the right attitude.

You know what eJapan really needs? A bit of humility.

In contrast to this person, I think Zodiarque represents the citizen eJapan should have. The kind of person who will do amazing work, like Zodi does with the forums and graphics, but always do it with honesty and dignity (okay, so he posts yaoi...still). Or people like Kitsune Usureki, who take up very time consuming ministries but do not demand credit for the hard work they do. Or maybe just someone like Akki, someone who can deliver smack-downs whenever needed, but willing to take the criticism.

Secondly, let's briefly talk about Sakurakai. We all know that this top 5 party is controlled by a recently immigrated Serbian group, and that is pretty much all we know. Vepar22 seems to be the only person connected with this Serbian group who will talk with eJapanese citizens on the forums (I don't know his IRC name). The problem is not that we are xenophobic, but we don't know what this group's intentions are. I think most people in eJapan would love to talk to whoever is in Sakuraki, but we just don't see these players active on the forums or IRC: two critical parts of the eJapanese community.

Speaking of which, who has shunned the forums and IRC? You guessed it: this person once again. The DNP has only recently started being active on the forums at the urging of some party members.

So can Sakurakai be part of a "Unity" movement? At this point in time, such an assertion is laughable.

Lastly, who has been at the center of almost every single political controversy over the past few months? This person.
Remember when eJapan did not have a bank? This person was at the heart of eJapan having its' banks banned, twice.
Remember the "Cash for Citizenships" controversy? Where immigrants were asked for a down payment of up to 30 gold (10000 JPY) to get a citizenship pass? This person was at the heart of it.
Remember past media articles which revealed other little schemes, like one time food/weapon donations to join the their party? This person pitched fits unworthy of a toddler, and even sent messages de-frending people for their acts of journalism.

In fact, this person seems to be running counter to everything the eJapanese community has been trying to create over the past few months. With a heavy handed tactic of selecting people only they support, this person has been trying to manipulate the government for their own benefit, not for eJapan's. Far from promoting unity, this person has instigated disunity in the country to the point where it is about to fall apart.

This is, again, not a rant against this person's party; and there are various people in leadership positions of that party whom I respect and find pleasures to work with. I think it is a shame that the image of the most powerful political party in eJapan is being tarnished by this person.

You know what would go a long way towards creating Unity? If the DNP dumped their party leader.
