[New Era] New Era Shadow Cabinet

Firstly, New Era and I, personally, would like to congratulate Acroc on his victory in the CP elections.
I can't remember a last time a candidate had such widespread support - and that it is a PCP man is something that I think gives a lot of hope to smaller parties.
New Era were happy to support such a capable candidate again.
Given that Acroc had so much support, applications for ministerial positions were high and some missed out but I was a little disappointed that more New Era members did not apply for more roles.
I know many of you that are ready to take the jobs on tomorrow if called on and when especially new players don't have the confidence or feel they don't have the experience to apply it hurts the eUK.
As such and as per my manifesto for Party President of New Era, I now announce the creation of the New Era Shadow Cabinet.
There are a number of goals for the New Era Shadow Cabinet:
1) to train up newer New Era players who may be unfamiliar with the mechanics of government and want to know more about a particular role - no strings attached.
2) in the bigger ministries (such as MoFA where prior experience may be important), shadow ministers would be expected to train their deputies whilst also encouraging the current Government when it is doing things well and also pointing out how New Era would do things differently in that particular area when the Government could maybe do better via constructive and focused criticism.
3) to provide a platform for future New Era Ministers of Government
There will be no shadow CP in this Cabinet.
This is not just because we support Acroc in his job as CP but also because the role would overshadow (pun intended!) the other roles and would cause overlap in dealing with analysis of a particular Government department.
Indeed, anyone that wanted run for CP probably already has experience in Government and is likely not to need to join the shadow Cabinet in order to gain more.
You can apply for roles within the New Era Shadow Cabinet - however, only New Era members should apply please.

This is a great oportunity for new players to kick in. Although many suggested me to apply, I would like to see more new faces that can cope with the hate from other parties, so we form strong characters, good enough to represent and defend the spirit of NewEra.
That excludes me then! lol 🙂 But, I really love New Era!

Good idea! I don't know whether or not New Era has had any party discussions about it but I think people should be able to apply for all positions, and not some players being handed certain positions(MoF, MoD, MoFA), it would make it a bit fairer. Like I said it is a good idea and I will be interested to see what happens with this shadow cabinet.

Thanks for the constructive feedback CheetahCurtis - although in the roles u mentioned (apart from maybe MoD), I do want people who can step up and do the job tomorrow if needed. This is because I want them to have the experience to train their deputies and I also want them to be able to give constructive and informed praise and criticism on the difficult areas of Foreign Affairs and Finance in particular. If the feedback is that New Era members wanna go with a relatively inexperienced shadow MoD, I'd be just as happy with that. Don is very busy anyway with the Army too.
Does the 'shadow' MoF know which orgs are being used for the MM and how much is invested on each org and what times they are put on the market? Otherwise all Goku can really do as 'shadow' MoF is bookkeep...

I don't understand why I need to know that stuff anyway, not like the MoF will have me doing any of it! I just need the data the MoF releases and that I create myself.

you only get experience when you work in the role, then you retain tat experience. Without the facts I have as Minister of Defence, or the knowledge, how can Dapper expect to have the same ideas/come to the decisions he needs to without that knowledge or certainty.
Shadow governments are pointless and will only detract from your members actually applying for roles. All roles are, usually, chosen on merit of the CP candidate, if you don't apply, how can you expect to demand or expect a position in the government?
The idea of a shadow cabinet if done well is actually pretty good, but the 'if done well' part already conflicts with the definition of a shadow cabinet.

Well I'm sure ACroc would welcome everybody to be a member of government if only he had the place for them, no? I don't think having 20 Ministers of Home Affairs would be a very productive construction. There's just not enough work to warrant having loads of deputies unless you like to let them do small tasks(Which some would call useless). As such we should welcome any kind of initiative that helps train people.
If it works, it's great. If it doesn't work it's not your issue, so what's the problem?

Given past history, I suspect it will be more of a 'trolling cabinet' but I shall give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that they prove me wrong. It's also a little presumtive to try to take credit for AC's victory, when New Ego only backed them a couple of days before the election (or was it one day? Need to check) when it became clear that a New Ego candidate couldn't win.
rubbish - I'm congratulating him for gaining "widespread support". As for New Era, we've supported the PCP and its candidates pretty much since we existed - so there's no change there for us anyway.

Apparent trolls are apparent. FFS the first thing anyone's done for a while to try and add a bit of dynamism to eUK's politics and it gets shouted down by the expected lolminati. Adding credulent discourse to the debate is really important to bring the eUK together again. auto-NE neighsayers discredit themselves by attacking this.
How is this going to realistically grant experience and discourse?
How are people going to learn without access to Orgs?
How are people going to learn about FA? Or the MoD without the knowledge that Ministers have access to? How are people going to learn to manage millions of GBP across multiple Orgs?
The only way is through government work. Unless you can explain how this is going to work, it seems pointless and futile.

I know this may sound a bit out there,
but if you want to work in a dept like MOD then perhaps its a better idear to message the people in the MOD area and ask to work as a understudy or simple just hang around them and learn from watching them and get their advise.
Instead of having someone like Don whos proven many times before he cant even handle MU orders properly let alone never worked in MOD or know any of the goings on and lines of communication the MOD need to have with other countries and alliance HQ's.
Why Divide more and learn how its not done when a simple mail could have you actually really working in the REAL government.

your unit is only good because of supplies...which anyone can do. Being Minister of Defence requires more knowledge and access to more information than you, as not Minister, or even working with the Ministry, do not have. Though, you could probably do the job justice tbf...

Hardly a great attitude to take with new players. This idea would be good, if it wasn't a) restricted to one party and b) already including players who have no need to 'gain experience'. If they really wanted to help, they would be in government.

you'd be surprised how many replies I've had saying "I didn't / wouldn't apply for deputy positions because I don't feel I know enough / don't want to try yet / want to try something first before i buy etc". This is supposed be a platform for New Era members to do just that - work in the Government.
Well surely that means they need to work in the department first to get to grips with it? That's how most of us (including you 😛) started out

If handled correctly this could be a means to develop ideas and strengthen the cases of players when and if they do apply for government...or perhaps lay the foundations of the governmental infrastructure should New Era get a CP.
I'd go further into my take on the weight of experience but ultimately this is an in house decision that isn't hurting anyone; so if they want to get on with it then good luck to them.
