[MoFA] World Affairs and Our Stance

Day 2,181, 09:40 Published in Canada North Korea by Foreign Affairs Canada

Greetings eCanadians,

This article is just to update you on some developments on the international stage and to give you an idea of were we are heading as a country.

eUK and eIreland

Awhile ago the eUK congress NE'd eIreland to try and wipe them. The then eUK CP did not want this and made the war into a Training War. However this did not stop the eIrish government from winning all of the RW battles and reclaiming their country. eIreland agreed to give eUK the fruit region of Louth in return for peace and this is where it currently stands with both new administrations supporting their predecessors agreement.

The new eUK CP seems to be able to handle its congress better and has directed their attention towards Scandinavia now that eIreland is off limits. There is much speculation in the eUK right now on how to expand their 'empire' and they are coming into conflict with other TWO members in the area, namely Lithuanian who has the region the eUK wants in Scandinavia.

eSpain and ePortugal

There is more uneasiness in TWO then just the eUK and Lithuanian affair. Many months ago ePortugal signed a NAP with eSpain to get peace and some of their land back. Since that time ePortugal had grown to become pro-TWO and has kept close ties with CUA (Colombia, Uruguay and Argentina ). However ePortugal had been blocked from joining ACT because eSpain does not want them to then support CUA into TWO. ePortugal then had Norte returned to it by a RW which eSpain was supposed to keep for the Aluminum bonus as outlined in their NAP. eSpain however held Maine (aluminum region) and so did not really need Norte for its aluminum which gave ePortugal hope that they could keep Norte. There were talks between eSpain and ePortugal during all of this for Portugal to finally join ACT (but giving up their formal support for CUA) which broke down and this resulted in eSpain NEing Portugal. Portugal then preceded to say that it was an unprovoked attack and has called on some TWO nations to help it (but most are sticking by Spain in this feud).

This war has so far been favouring ePortugal since they have won back all their regions but one and most importantly cut off Spain from its bonuses in North America with the loss of Azores. ePortugal also had a strong shield that prevented Spain from taking Norte back. However it is unlikely that ePortugal will last for long as their shield is being destroyed and Spain is adamant that ePortugal pay for, what eSpain sees, breaking the past agreement.

For more on this matter you can find the ePortugal MoFA article here and the eSpanish one here

There was a mix up with the eUS and eSpain yesterday when the ePortugal and eSpain war started since the eUS government thought the eSpain CP said that if the eUS fought for eSpain in Norte then eSpain would give back Maine. The eUS government then released Battle Orders that stated this. The CP of eSpain quickly corrected the misunderstanding but the eUS CP has decided to stick by the support they are giving eSpain in hopes that they will gain favour with Spoland (who controls their eastern seaboard).

Where does eCanada fit into all of this?

eCanada has decided to not dive into the fray and try to get back are eSpanish controlled regions through RW's when eSpain is busy with ePortugal. Both eCanada and eSpain have been very honourable towards the NAP we signed and both nations trust each other more because of it. It would be unwise to throw away this hard earned trust in an attempt to capitalize on a brief moment of opportunity.

eCanada got peace, and most of its regions back, not because of support from former CoT nations, though their help was appreciated, but through negotiation and the good will of both eCanada and eSpain. Are security as a nation comes from non former CoT nations and so we will look towards non former CoT countries to preserve are nation and those who we have provided a new home for in North America.

eCanadian input is appreciated and its citizens are encouraged to comment (as I'm sure you already would have) below with queries or concerns regarding your nations foreign relations department.
