Today's Party President elections are turning out to be an unusally excited affair!

Earlier today, Vecado, Britain's Advancement Party's new leader, issued a "Declaration of Greatness once more", promising an exciting new party. But the real showstopper is Marcus Antonius Varias, standing for UK Reform leadership, at just 3 days old.

We caught up with Marcus earlier.

How did you find eRepublik?
I'd been spending the day browsing websites, doing some research for an article I was writing, and I kept seeing a banner with some sort of map on it. I decided to click on it, I found myself on this website, I looked into the whole game a little more, and the rest is history.

You are running for UKRP PP? Why did you choose UKRP so soon?
Well, it seemed natural to join the UKRP as I originally hail from a centre-right party. I'd a bit obsessed with politics so I suppose that's what drew me in so soon to ePolitics.

Being so new, how do you know you are properly suited to UKRP, and therefore suitable for its leadership?
Well I have no idea whether or not I am properly suite to the UKRP, but that's not for me to decide. I've told as many party members as I can what I'm about and what I believe in, so it's really down to them to decide whether this is a role for me. I hope they do, but at this stage it is much to difficult to tell. I think the party is pretty divided over me, and it's sometimes good to get the party thinking when there has been a series of similar candidates and election outcomes. Change is good, and I'm glad I can offer the party some. In terms of leadership: it has never been an issue for me leading. Some people don't like to lead, other aren't affect by it. I am the latter.

What would you say to critics who suggest your experience is too low to run eUK's largest party and one of the largest in the world?
Well I can't deny my inexperience, but I've a strong team behind me and the party is a quite concrete unit so I certainly have no fears. It's a valid point they make, but again, regardless of the critics, the people who really matter are those who make the votes. I've been pretty down to earth in admitting my flaws and weaknesses and also how I intent to lead the party, but if that's not what they want, I wont get elected and that'll be that.

What can you offer to UK Reform?
It's fresh ideas and motivation and ensuring that the party moves in parliament more like a unit. There may be a bit of a wake up calls for some MPs and I feel a more defined purpose is needed of our members; that is to say, we need individuals with specific roles and tasks in the party.

What can you offer to eUK?
I'm not serving the eUK this time around, but just my party. I make it quite clear that my duties are what I've just mentioned, not being political. But there should be a knock on effect of a tighter and more effective party in pushing through important legislation and reform.

Thanks to Marcus for agreeing to the interview.

Whilst totally unconfirmed allegations of "multis" are being bounced around the eUK forum, no one knows for sure at the moment how he is doing so well, currently winning by a fair margin, holding about 45% of the vote.

For the time being, all we can say is good luck, and may the best candidates win!
