[CP] Second Presidential Article

Day 1,483, 07:35 Published in Philippines Norway by Sigurd Aasen

Its been a week since First President article and now it is time for a weekly update and a summary of events which have taken place over the last week.

The most progress was in the last week was made regarding the economic and tax system in ePhilippines. After a meeting with my Financial Minister, Hekter, we decided that there was a problem in the markets: there were not enough products. To combat this we decided to lower to import tax on Food Raws from 7% to 1%, which will hopefully encourage more imports and products on our market. This will not result in a loss for the country, as we also decided that the Value Added Tax (VAT) on food should be raised from 10% to 15%. This has already resulted in greater revenue for the government in the couple of days it has been functioning and we hope it shall benefit the economy.

In our Foreign Affairs we have also had some achievements in the past week. Firstly, I would like to announce that the first steps to the creation of an ambassador programme are underway and we are currently looking for people to volunteer for ambassador positions. The job would involve being in contact with people and politicians in the country they are based in and submitting a weekly report to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. If you are interested in becoming an ambassador, just contact me or our MoFA, Jelly9473.

Secondly, I have just returned from discussions with representatives of the Republic of China (Taiwan), who have just submitted us the rent for Luzon for the month. This commitment shows our growing relationship with the country we had a small hiccup in relations with a couple of months ago. I hope that this relationship can only strengthen and all that happened in those dark times be forgotten by all involved with no grudges being held on either side.

With the upcoming Party President elections, security is now a must, and so I have PM'd every Party President to make sure there is full co-operation this month to ensure that there are no hostile takeovers in any of our Parties. This co-operation shall go along the lines of the action that was taken last month, where if any suspicious candidates seem to be using illegitimate means to achieve election, the parties shall co-ordinate tactical voting to ensure that there are no hostile takeovers.

After contacting Norwegians, such as Stakerauo, it has been decided not to renew the Mutual Protection Pact (MPP) with eNorway. Following the Serbian takeover of the country in recent months, any efforts to aid eNorway now will just benefit the new occupiers. For this reason we shall co-operate with individual Norwegian groups and not the government until this situation is returned to normalcy.

Thank you
