[CP] First Thoughts and Updates

My Friends,
Being President is much as I remember it, days filled with PMs from all sorts of people, with IRC queries with cabinet, allies and enemies alike, with each new administration trying to gage the opinions and stances of those around them; trying to garner some small piece of intelligence that could prove crucial later on. I make it a personal policy to reply to every PM that I receive, so that does take a fair amount of time out of a day, but it can be well worth it in the relationships that it develops.
It’s been a fairly eventful couple of days, with Cabinet getting organised and running, communication with allies flowing and battles with Ireland to fight.
I’m going to steal somebody else’s style for these announcements, simply because I’ve always thought it’s the most simple and easy to understand; so thanks to Addy Lawrence for this!
ON CTRL AND ALLIANCES…
I was recently asked in an interview what my stance on alliance politics is. That interview was published by Beta in game, so please refer to my answer there as to my stance!
ON THE GOVERNMENT’S MEDIA PRESENCE…
Three articles released so far. TWO by MoF Carlini8: HERE, and HERE. Be sure to read, vote, subscribe and comment on those articles- the former amounts to the first MoF report of the term and the latter definitely needs your input!
The other was THIS article by Betafoxtrot, including an interview of me on a variety of subjects- well worth a read.
ON CABINET…
Cabinet has begun their work nicely and I’m excited by what will be happening over the coming month! Each of them will be writing reports for you, informing you of what they’re getting up to and advertising their own areas, so stay tuned for those.
ON THE BEF…
The BEF will continue to tick over during my term, with workers being supplied Q7 weapons on IRC. This won’t cost the taxpayer anything, as I’m covering the cost until something I’ve been working on is ready for public release. I can’t say any more than that just now.
ON THE POLITICAL PARTY SUMMIT…
My VP Ergo Deus came up with the idea of a Party Summit for all UK parties, to try and clear the air and solve some of the issues currently plaguing UK politics. He’s currently contacting the PPs of every UK party and so far six have already signed up to attend. It’ll take place in #FriendsInTheUK on the rizon server of IRC, time and date to be confirmed by the attendees. I don’t know how much one meeting will accomplish on the subject, but Ergo is absolutely right that we do need to try and solve some of the political differences, and this is as good a place to start as any!
ON THE TREATY OF DUBLIN / IRELAND…
In the last few days we’ve received both Northern Ireland and Scotland back, with more than a few disgruntled UK citizens fighting, even tanking to bring them back. Congress have started discussing scrapping the region swap part of the Irish peace deal, and will shortly be voting on whether or not to do so.
I’d like to make it clear to all readers that, whether we region swap or not, peace with Ireland will be maintained. The UK has no desire to invade or take any Irish regions.

What's the drama with UK politics recently? I haven't checked in on it since v1, so I'm completely out of the loop.
Depends who you ask, but the biggest party's been in power for a long time now, and a growing number of people want them out. Fairly simplistic but that seems to be the main factor.

We never agreed to that!
If your congress decide to scrap the peace deal then its on the UK to get us our regions back, many times I fought for the UK to make sure you kept the agreed regions.
If we cancelled the deal the burden would be on us to get your regions back for you so visa versa.
Considering i was running for CP and have made a lot of articles attacking TUP/NewEra i thought i would be invited to this friendship between parties thing... But i haven't.
Any reason? Seems very anti-friendly if you ask me.
Depends who you ask, but the biggest party's been in power for a long time now, and a growing number of people sense that these same old faces and their same old solutions is responsible for the UKs stagnation. Fairly simplistic but that seems to be the main factor.

@ Marcus- of course, if we cancelled the deal we'd make sure your regions were RW'd back to you in as little time as possible.
Thanks mate, hope if this is cancelled or not we can get working closely together. It has been well over due, war between us does nothing to help boost our communities activity level and the lose of new members due to same stuff happening each month.
We won this month because there was no serious opposition to a great candidate. We won last month with the support of three of the top 5 parties. We lost the month before and the guy went crazy at the end of his term. We won July with a great candidate by a landslide. We lost a closely fought contest in June. I fail to see the problem, or the "long time" in power.
Danie we get that in Ireland aswell, bitches gonna cry nothing you can do about it.
Danie is limiting 'in power' to mean the results of CP elections which isn't the actual argument.
TUP can win every election from here on out and that'd be fine if certain things behind the scenes were changed and the UK was given a sense of purpose.
However as Marcus alludes to - The desire for change, the differences in opinion, all that can get reduced to "Haters gonna hate" and "They want to destroy us".
