First, some mood music from The Tragically Hip:

Yesterday, the Leafs' Cup run ended, quite unceremoniously.

Today, Admin announced an MU contest whereby MU's would compete against each other based on damage done during a one week period starting tomorrow, Day 2003. The full article is available here.

Tomorrow, CoI will put on it's Fifty Mission Cap and try to win a Cup of sorts. Do you want to be a part of it?

On the contest announced by admin...

The top three MU's in each country will receive triple Daily Order rewards for a week and their MU will receive a gold/silver/bronze medal for their performance.

The top 50 MU's in all of eRep will each receive an Organization and a prize in gold. The top dog will get 500g but CoI concedes that is out of reach. Top 50 is achievable and MUs 26 to 50 will receive 150g. The gold will be donated to the MU's organization. The Commanders of the MU will have access to the org.

On tipping the hand of Captains of Industry...

The Organization is what the Captains of Industry are excited about. This will create additional opportunities for the MU which has consistently demonstrated over time that it will create opportunities for itself through teamwork, perseverance and patience.

There have been no plans made with respect to the gold.

This is 100% speculation on my part. One possible use for the gold would be loans. In the past, CoI has lent gold to members to buy companies and upgrade companies. CoI has an excellent record in collecting outstanding loans.

On CoI's chances for Top Three in eCan and Top 50 in eRep...

The Captains of Industry (CoI) are consistently the top ranked MU in eCan with respect to kills. If you frequent egov4you, you will also note that CoI is consistently the top ranked MU in eCan with respect to damage/influence. This is not to beat the chest of CoI, this is to outline the facts so that the opportunity can be framed.

CoI did 960m damage in the past seven days whereas the 50th MU in eRep did 1,725m. Although this seems a big gap, MU's across eRep are consolidating in order to beef up their damage totals for this contest and claim the top prizes.

The ask...

Suffice to say, there will be a lot of soldiers laying down a lot of damage in the name of their MU. The brutal reality is that only the top three in each country and/or the top 50 in all of eRep will get any formal recognition.

On behalf of the Captains of Industry, I am asking those who are willing to change MU's for this tournament to join CoI and fight alongside us in pursuit of the Fifty Mission Cap.

CoI is not out to poach members, I cannot stress this enough. CoI is seeking support from our friends in the form of temporary membership in CoI so that together we can put an eCan MU in eRep's Top 50.

Time is of the essence. Switching on day 5 of the contest will only bring your remaining damage to CoI, not your accumulated damage. If you are going to switch, please switch now.

On what's in it for the fresh faces...

There is no compensation arrangement at this time for any fresh faces. There may be, there may not be, this has just happened too quickly. The leadership of the MU is aware of the issue and recognizes that some sort of acknowledgement is in order, we just haven't sorted it out yet. Stay tuned.

CoI does have rewards programs for fighters and the fresh faces would be eligible for them. I personally will be throwing any rewards I earn back into the pot so that the fresh faces are more likely to get them. I will also be looking for a way to personally recognize those who wear the Fifty Mission Cap with pride.

Denouement...

The Crimson Canucks and The Canadian Armed Forces both consistently appear in eCan's top three and I understand that they have something at stake as well. I empathize with my friends in these respective MU's who have a tough decision to make, and I understand. Good luck to them both.

I also understand the feelings that are stirred when someone asks you to change MU's, and it isn't any easier if you are a member of a smaller MU. To my friends in those MU's, I understand.

There will be no hard feelings here if it doesn't work out.

The Captains of Industry are without question the most self reliant MU in eRep. Not only does our MU thrive in self-reliance, the members are self-less in supporting each other in pursuit of self-reliance.

An MU Org would expand the possibilities that our self-reliance is capable off. I invite you to be a part of this grand endeavour and join Captains of Industry today.

On Exalted Druid's request for pics:

For the guys, here is a pic of Angelina Jolie, and in an homage to her decision to proceed with a double mastectomy for precautionary reasons, it focuses on her face. Props to her for her personal leadership on this issue:

For the ladies, here is a pic of a Toronto Maple Leaf legend, the subject of the Tragically Hip's song "50 Mission Cap", scorer of the game winning goal in the 1951 Stanly Cup final. He died the summer after in a plane crash and his body was not found until 1962. Ironically, the Leafs did not win a Cup between '51 and '62 while his body was missing and they DID win it the year his body was found.
