--- A Congressional Speech to All Americans ---
Ansen
To all of my fellow congressmen and women, and to all citizens of America...
It's sad how bad things have gotten in the last 48 hours. And no, I'm not talking about losing Mexico; I'm not talking about what other countries have done to us. I'm talking about what we have done to ourselves. Our country has completely turned against itself. We're an utter mess, with citizens and politicians alike lashing out at anyone and everyone we can get our hands on.
This has got to stop. Some people are angry with Uncle Sam. Others are angry at those who have criticized him. Uncle Sam is probably angry at a fair amount of people himself. So everyone's angry at someone. I understand. But let's move past the idea of impeachment for the moment. I suppose it might make some people feel a bit better, but that's about all we could hope to accomplish. No one person is going to be able to come in and save the day now. We would be left more divided than ever, and be left with even less hope for success as we move forward.
What have we done recently? We have vehemently attacked each other, and we have venomously targeted our own allies. We're angry...because we're embarrassed.
Let's leave our past behind us. Now is the time to stop looking at what just happened, and start taking care of what's going to happen next.
But what can we do? We've lost Mexico. That is pretty much certain. Our treasury, our economy, and our willpower have all been drained. We need to take a moment and breathe.
Mexico and Portugal will soon be at America's doorstep, and that is when our future may be decided. We must regroup and prepare to defend the borders of our original regions, in case they come under attack.
If you're upset with what's happened, now is the time to take responsibility as politicians, military members, and citizens of the United States of American and help get this country back on track! We must rise up and become part of a solution that is bigger than our own individual egos. If you do not take matters into your own hands...who else will?
I understand questions still loom. Should we leave ATLANTIS? Do we need political and military reform? How do we solve the problem of high weapons prices? Answers to these questions will come when cooler heads can prevail. To answer those questions, we must first be on the same team.
I urge Cabinet Members, Congressmen, Congresswomen, Military Members, Business Owners, Party Presidents, and every Newspaper owner in America to put out a message of unity towards the American people. Unity in congress, unity between parties, and unity with our allies. We have been far too divisive in the past 48 hours, and it is time for our division to be put to rest. If we all commit to spreading a new attitude of unity, we can change the current course of our country!
Will it help us keep Mexico? Perhaps not. That battle may have already been decided. But the very future of our country is at stake!! Let us rise up, together, as Americans, and defend the LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE!!!!!

Nicely written Ansen.

Nicely written, Congressman.
Voted. 🙂
A public apology to the nation and the alliance by the President should be the best way to start taking responsibility and encourage others to move on.
Yes, we must stay united.
as the French said at Verdun... "They shall not pass!" 🙂 history dork, hee hee!
For Unity!
With such danger looming, we must stick together.
There's plenty of time to ream each other when we aren't on the verge of getting reamed as a whole.
The last time I wrote strongly in opposition to impeaching Uncle Sam.
Now, PEACE is on our doorstep, and we have a big question to answer.
"Allies" like the UK, will only fight to defend us if they feel like it. And they don't. They feel like we went off by occupying parts of Mexico, and wouldn't mind if we "learn a lesson" by enduring California or Florida being occupied by PEACE.
We may or may not have MPP's with the UK, but they don't like us, and want us to fail.
We're pretty much on our own-- Sweden is great, and I'm hoping Canada will engage when we get invaded, but our "ally" the UK is laughing at this and actively fighting against us.
Still worked up over the Hari/Dru articles, eh?
Love those two guys. Very respectable men.
However, you have to set aside your feelings in this situation. I know, we should be pushing hard and fast for some major changes and restructuring.. but this a bad time to be calling for that.
The best thing any citizen can do is endure. And to top even that? ..Endure UNITED.
Leave the UK to their vices. If they want to prove themselves? ..They'll help us. When they want. Let's worry about our own rears first, agreed?
Just leave Mexico in PEACE.
And we will not knock at your doors 🙂
Have a nice day 🙂
Nicely written, let's hope your politicians take notice.
I think a small minority of people in the UK who have been very vocal have made you think that the UK is not with you; this isn't the case.
Likewise, when US citizens post comments on our publications insulting the UK, a slanging match is going to be the outcome, and has hampered relations, but we are still allies.
Thats dangerous talk Jon Barack Bluejacket. As a eBritish citizen I have to say that my opinion of the Mexico endeavour was that the eUSA was WAY out of line, and it was wrong. However, to paint the eUK as a nation who wouldn't help it's allies is very bad. If eAmerican soil comes under threat, the eUK will help to the best of it's ability.
Don't think otherwise...
maybe we should join peace
Impeach the eUSA Government.
Ignore the political parties and vote all new leadership in next round.
Throw the bums out!
Ansen, I wrote my article last night already. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-a-not-so-level-headed-congressional-opinion--752570/1/20
For those of you wondering, there is military reform being undergone. The Army has decommissioned a ton of inactive members. And the only knowledge I have of them is in the 1st Army, 1st Div, 1st Company which is the EST division.
I cannot speak for the rest.
But yes Unity must be preserved but people should not be encouraged to bite their tounges. They may have a great idea which could turn everything around. This said, dissent is good as long as it is constructive criticism.
for ponys!
i mean... UNITY
but really, well put
hear hear ansen... I'll salute American unity, and very soon I will be able to be on the battlefield with my American brothers and sisters...defending our land!
Here here.
Voted. I'm all for unity, particularly right now. This is why I'm against impeachment...what purpose would it serve at this point?
But I do think it's important to examine how we got into this mess in the first place. Poor decisions were made, and there will be a time when those responsible will be held accountable. That time is not now; our focus must be on preparing our troops to defend our borders and, to the extent possible, repairing our wartime economy.
