THE LEGACY (PART 5a)

Continued from THE LEGACY (PART4)
We have so many heroes around. Some of us many want to be heroes too.
From this THE LEGACY sequel there are two heroes that have been on debate by many people in the later generations. They are none other than Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat.
Hang Tuah is portrayed as being too stupidly patriotic and obedient to those rebel hearts. Yup, we are the generation that was born in the era of rebellious rock and roll will never actually understand Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat. Our thoughts had been polluted by anarchic democracy.
Put aside your sentiments and just focus on the intellect political factors.
Let’s proceed with the story.
THE SCANDAL
Malacca was the centre of international business.
It was built upon the strength of mixed communities and cultures: Malays, Indian, Chinese, Arabs, Javanese, Siamese… all sorts of races. Very much like the modern Malaysia. So, don’t think that only Malays play role in the high places politics.
Names like Pateh Kerma Wijaya as the ambassador from Majapahit; Mamak Mandeliar representing Indian traders and community… and many more. These people had particular interests of their own. The Indians likely needed more freedom to control the sea trading to the west, but Hang Tuah control the sea. For the Majapahits, it seemed like the peace treaty had been made, but the old grudge was still burning inside their hearts… Not the King of Majapahit but his politicians around. These people hated Hang Tuah so much.
What they did was set a conspiracy to trap Hang Tuah in an unforgiveable scandal.
I’m not going to elaborate the detail of the scandal in the palace, so we just understand it as a well planned conspiracy.
THE JUDGEMENT
Here again, our generation is distracted by history to hate the Sultan for being stupidly autocratic and punish Hang Tuah without proper judgement. Do you really think the Sultan was that stupid?
A Sultan of a great empire like that must have been well educated and intelligent.
Hang Tuah was sentenced to be taken deep into the jungle and be killed there; and left to be eaten by tigers. Hang Tuah loyally obeyed the judgement upon him unquestioned. He was taken to the jungle by the Bendahara and accompanied by several secret service commandos. Upon reaching there, the Bendahara was said to be soft heartened and unable to execute the killing for he loved Hang Tuah so much. Thus he set Hang Tuah free hiding there in an ‘orang asli’ village.
Let me put an argument.
Do you really think the Bendahara would disobey his king?
Shouldn’t you think that Hang Tuah himself would never allow himself or the Bendahara to go against the Sultan’s will?
The inside truth was…
Actually the Sultan and the Bendahara had always aware of some political threat within the palace. But when a sudden big conspiracy came like this, the Sultan was forced to exercise his justice… which was only a death sentence to be. The Sultan consulted the Bendahara and they came out with a plan of a fake the death of Hang Tuah.
For this was a very secret action; only the Sultan, Bendahara, Hang Tuah and the accompanying commandos knew the truth!

2 more episode and it'll be the end to this 'THE LEGACY' sequel Season One.
Wow that made me excited
both Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat were SSTupid. same stupid mentality still presist in modern Malay society.
ouchy on that dear CDV
BTw sorry i dont really understand malay hisory... but Majapahit collapsed after Demak (first Islamic javanese empire) rise. Hang Tuah is Muslim right? is he in majapahit time?
and at majapahit time, there are not much muslim you know.... only lats days of majapahit filled by "many" muslim population.
@CDV:
Yup, arrogance wasn't so popular in those days.
@Richi:
Yup, you pointed out the most dubious point there.
It was said to be in the same era of Pateh Gajah Mada circa mid 14th Century. Yet, the background of Hang Tuah was in the 15th Century. (Muslim traveller Ibn Batutta visited Majapahit during Gajah Mada's era)
It was a tale inherited verbally with no concrete prove. Even many people doubt that these guys really had existed.
What's the truth out of history is not so important... what can be learnt are the things to be valued.
