Continued from THE LEGACY (PART 5a)

Hang Jebat wasn’t actually over thrown the government. He just took over the palace to show his rebellion over the injustice acts done by the Sultan. Everybody in the palace fled for their lives, except the palace beautiful maids were kept in captive to serve him. (I’d do the same if I were him…so would you…ehehe).

HE’S BACK

Hang Tuah was brought back from his hideout. At that point, there’s no way Hang Tuah can defeat Hang Jebat as Jebat was invisible with Taming Sari. Moreover, this task was the heaviest for Hang Tuah to accomplice for Jebat was his best friend of all.

Hang Tuah had no choice but to confront Hang Jebat with a lesser Royal Kris.
Hang Tuah marched to the palace with hundreds of accompanying soldiers.
He called Hang Jebat to come out.

Hang Jebat opened the door and to his surprise Hang Tuah was very much alive. Hang Tuah straight forwardly tell his mission. Both of them knew the situation well, an order was an order. The soldiers and people were yelling bad words… but none got into the ears of both men. The emotion mixed to both men.

Hang Jebat invited Hang Tuah to ‘play’ inside the palace.
Once Hang Tuah got in, Hang Jebat set all the palace maids free.
Only both of them were in the palace; and they closed all windows and doors.

Then it’s quiet.
Nobody could see the fighting inside or heard any noise at all. Too damn quiet!

The crowd became restless, and shouting continued outside the palace. Some soldiers went under the palace and began protruding spears through flooring gaps. For such nuisance, Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat had to put large round trays on the floor. What happened?

Nothing happened. Hang Tuah sat on a tray rolling his nipah cigarette; Hang Jebat on another tray folding ‘sireh’. They’re just chatting whisperingly recalling their best moments together. Enjoy the peacefulness apart from the chaos outside.

Then Hang Jebat handed over Taming Sari to Hang Tuah.
What Hang Tuah did was only scratch a little cut on the Hang Jebat’s little finger.
The poison acted instantly. Sorrowly, Hang Tuah took a ‘cindai’ cloth and wrapped around Hang Jebat’s belly. ‘Cindai’ is a high quality cloth well known for being anti-septic and an excellence material to stop bleeding. In agony Hang Jebat pressed his wounded hand on the belly thus the blood stain seemed like he was stabbed in the stomach.

Hang Tuah opened the door and let the wounded Hang Jebat out. The crow cheered.
But it wasn’t the end yet! Hang Jebat still walked and he killed whoever stood in his way.
The only comment by Hang Tuah was, he had to fulfill his friend last wish.
Hang Tuah left the crowd and went home. It was said that Hang Jebat ran amok for a week before he collapse to his death.

*****************

Why did Hang Tuah let Hang Jebat loose to kill? Actually Hang Jebat didn’t just kill anybody… he went after those corrupted people they all knew very well.

You!… yes you Hang Kebun! Do not dare to say they were stupid guys.
They were warriors.
Ask any warrior; the Samurais; the armies of Sun Tzu or even modern day commandos;
They’d sacrifice their lives and everything they possess in honour of the nation.
Not just for the sake of any particular Sultan; but for the stability of the nation as a whole.

Hang Jebat died in honour.
