Shadow Figure
The president of Germany
to German and Polish people
I was reading a couple of articles and comments
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/romanian-bulgarian-diplomacy-1136361/1/all and
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-bg-to-garabeda-the-bulgarian-government-and-the-bulgarian-players-in-general-1137931/1/all
What caught my attention:
First, both Romanians and Bulgarians think the citizens of the other country hate them, while no one hates anybody. As you know, in erepublik military actions = fun, not hate.
Still there are insults between us. This is regrettable, I wish we were less impulsive and more civilized. As for the jokes with pickles and 'mamaligutza', we shouldn’t take them too seriously.
Second, Bulgarians will not accept Romania’s terms. I understand Bulgarians are proud and will never surrender. That makes them a tough enemy and a valuable ally. +1 to respect! But Romanians are also proud, so this happens:
Bulgarians see: hard negotiations where Romania assumes a position of superior power.
Romanians see: soft negotiations where Romania shows good will.
Well, the truth must be somewhere in the middle. But as long as Romania has superior power I suppose it will negotiate from a position of superior power. Maybe we negotiate hard, but for sure we fight even harder.
And here comes third, the fights. I understand Bulgarians are angry and frustrated because of Romania’s numerous military actions (PTO’s included here) against them. And Romanian’s are equally frustrated and angry because Bulgaria is a constant obstacle for Romania’s goals, always blocking Romania’s way to the south.
Romania is following it’s interests and her allies interest, exactly like Bulgaria does. No reason to be angry about it.
Forth, a little history: Bulgaria became Romania's enemy very early in the game. At that time Romania was trying to expand going around Bulgaria. This still happens today. What has changed though:
In that old times war was something evil, very very immoral. Sound ridiculous now, but back then war was analyzed with irrelevant opinions from RL. At that time Romania was despised by almost everyone, even some allies, for growing into an empire.
I think this had lot to do with Bulgaria becoming Romania's enemy. Romania and Bulgaria became enemies because of considerations about war relevant in RL, not in erepublik.
My point is that "we've always been on different sides" is not a reason to be enemies in the future, considering what I said about the past. Ancient history here .
Still, almost for sure Romania and Bulgaria will remain enemies, and even a NAP (non aggression pact) is improbable in the near future. But I hope there will be a better understanding and communication between our countries. And we’ll all have fun.
PS. Please note I retired from all official positions. This is just my opinion, and I hope you will agree with me. For official articles subscribe to Crista22, Smara and mihail.cazacu
PS2.

My hat down in front of you
Wrong, bulgarians already hate the romanians.
Romanians cant want from us our regions and then they tell us we are responsble for this war. No, i think romanians are wrong, cuz we like them can want their regions without a fight. Its stupid. Now Romania will pay for this occupation
Hate is stupid!
Nice
I really like Bulgaria 🙂

+1 Respect Shadow
+1, I liked the ending 🙂
As with all the other similar articles, you will see a majority of agreements and high fives from romanians and very little replies from bulgarians, usually expressing their frustration at eBulgaria being patronized by the much more powerful eRomania. I wouldn't bother apologizing anymore, at least we broght some color in their otherwise colorless existance - their more experienced players finally got a chance to fight for their own country... C'mon bulgarians, wasn't that worth the trouble?
I agree 100% +1 for Shadow Figure🙂
Way to be classy Romania!
I am a Bulgarian, and I realize this is all just a game. We're both here to just have fun. I respect other player's ambition to see their country number one and I really think less of people who hate each other based on ignorance and complexes, as I said already: it's just a game. I respect the right of every player to fight for his country, but as far as going let me be clear here - I'm a Bulgarian player and Bulgaria is my homeland, with this kind of political situation after Romanian actions, I think my choice has been already paved in front of me for the future. And not only for me - for thousands more of my countrymen.
Shadow Figure, thanks for another great article, clarifying the different aspects of this issue!
We enjoy being Romania's game opponents, we like writing funny (and I mean "funny", not "insulting"😉 articles about you, we love a good fight and enjoy trying to ruin your carefully laid out plans 🙂
I personally hope insults and hatred will continue to decrease with time, because eR's a great place to project your RL ambitions and dreams, but investing negative feelings in the game only decreases the fun.

I REALLY hate bulgarian traffic police! The world would be a better place without them
Bulgarii nu pot sa invete din evidentele prezentului, au un vecin puternic si care, desi le-a aratat cata valoare au, le-a propus o discutie ca parteneri, insa ei tot cauta cai verzi pe pereti
Bulgarians can`t learn from the reality, they have a powerful neighbor and and he has shown how much value they have, it has been proposed as a conversation partner, but they still search cucumber on the North pole.
I agree we shouldn`t really be fighting. I saw a lot of bg comments about what has been in the past in the REAL WORLD
@Hell.vs.Heaven: zilele astea o sa va zic ce este in mintea romanilor, o sa vedeti 🙂
Well i totally agree. I am BG and yes, I love my country and so in a war i will fight for it i AM a patriot but yes this is for fun so there shouldn`t be any insult.......THIS IS JUST A GAME
I love you Shadow Figure!

Pheonix dosent want romania. They just want them out of EDEN. They;d just become another pawn in hundonesian game plan. In EDEN they matter and have a say. In Pheonix Hungarys goal trump all others.
Even when negotiating against a supreme power, one can be proud and achieve more than the ones bowing to the bard. I know, I was president of Hungary, when Romania occupied our regions and we saw no hope whatsoever. I had plenty of occassions to negotiate with Romania, the superpower of those times.
But we did not give up. Did not give in. If we had, eHungary would not have become what it is now. And that is a true lesson, one that all small countries should keep in min😛 if you give up, you are over (the way of Ukrain for example, to become a vassal, a nothing). If you don't give up - you have chance. To choose the hard way, the one wrought with danger. Because only by taking risks can one achieve results!
Quicksilver
That's the key point: this is just a game.
Respect to all players, regardless of their nationality, who play fair and fight hard.
i see much parallels between eRepublik and Real life... Sometimes we say, eRepublik's economy, politics are very close to real life so and when one country wants to expand, and there are no other options to expand but taking over other country, agressor likes to tell some fairy tales: IT'S JUST A GAME! Yes, you have fun and don't think about how other feels...
I think, this game should be based on diplomacy not wars. If you like fights, you may choose other browser games such like Ikariam or Travian... And if you want to fight here then you realy show your disrespect and agressive to those who you fight with.
finally, sorry for my bad english... 🙂 i hope you understand what i mean.
@ChLeo: when i started playing the game i was thinking the same about diplomacy. I really like diplomacy. Bun the fact is most players would get bored without wars and stop playing. And the economy would also 'die' because of over-production.
@revolgod9987: EDEN FOREVER!
