Why Everything needs to be looked At
Natster
Ecanadians, I am going out on a limb a declaring anyone who supports import taxes at 1% is unpatriotic and has a weak argument as to why. They are saying a high import tax will cause our market to grow too high and stagnate the economy.
I call that BS, and here's why. We don't have the lowest prices in the EWorld and yet our tanks are still selling. I sold 100 yesterday. That's pretty good in my eyes.
However, I'm not stopping there. The government wants to control you.
This is why they favor more income into the countries coffers. This was all created by bad tax policies and communes. Communes are bad for the economical viability long term, and I believe that they need to be mothballed.
This is why I want to raise the minimum wage to $40. If you are working in a commune, you would be grandfathered in, and not affected (I still have an employee I pay $5 too). However, any further growth of communes needs to be restricted.
However, the implication of the higher minimum wage would be a higher WAM.
The way from stopping this from becoming a run-away freight train is too lower the Worker Tax.
I do lean a bit towards the 2% VAT as well as 3-4% Import tax, but I want to see a low VAT and high import.
So, it's better to run a 1% VAT and 3% import.
There's no reason not to raise the import.
Furthermore, I would argue that the number of alliances to be obtained by the government be proportional to income generated over the last 3 months. I would propose no more than 70% with an ideal range of 60%.
I would also propose that the left over be put into treasury who would then do gold buying off of the market.
The gold and money saved and earned would be used for wars.
For Now Natster out!

What exactly are you trying to achieve by changing the VAT or Import Tax?
You seem to want to change every tax we have, but I don't really see a WHY, or to what end.
If you are trying to simple generate more income by raising VAT and Import, then its pointless, as the tax you generate from that is next to nothing and just makes anyone who buys off the eCan market (very few as it stands) pay more.
*Simply
😁😁 Yep. First thing needs done is to decide how much eCanada needs, by when, and for what. Then you have concrete amounts and time horizons which guide decision making about taxes.
Anyone who wants to be paid 45 dollars can get a job for that wage. The minimum wage proposal only affects the slave pits.... which it will decimate.
We should look at everything including raising the work tax to 12%.
Troll
😑
I personally have worked in a slave pit and they don't break the economy. They actually help it. Here is why: Communes/Slave Pits are full of employees who get paid little money in return for working everyday they get the supplies they need to fight. Now communes and pits have a limited amount of resources they can produce so they ration what they do make, which helps offset the amount of goods needed to work the wars in the game. But they don't provide so many resources that the workers are not buying from the market or working their own companies. I believe the government needs to enable MU's (partial funding) to help them build more, which would allow our markets to become more stable since Murks are paid by CO or Tanks, depending on the contract. If we can provide tanks to Merks then the overall cost of war will be less.
The big problem with a high minimum wage is that pesky work tax...if a congress sets in and sees that we have a minimum wage of $40...10% is $4 per company and per job worked....That's a huge penalty for company owners...not to mention what companies are profitable when your paying workers $40 to work it...
I think your on the right track that the tax in general needs lowered, but it needs to be lowered senseably. And the VAT is another tax that takes advantage of players who own companies and the people they sell the goods to.

Raise everything to 99% then we can all go home.
Interestingly, a 25% VAT and Work Tax - which are the maximum allowed - would only move 5 more companies (out of 24) than now (7) into the loss category for WAMing, although obviously the remaining companies would be far less profitable. But think about the tax revenue!

Calling anyone who has a different opinion than you unpatriotic is undemocratic. I wouldn't say that company owners who charge more than they need to are unpatriotic. That kind of person just has different priorities. Likewise your idea that the government is out to control you is pretty hyperbolic. It just wants to control your money. 😛 Seriously though, it wants to be able to fund wars and, while the Work Tax increase may have been a steep jump, that has to come from tax revenues if we aren't getting private donations.
I don't understand your point about the price of tanks. Importers were never going to lower the price to the lowest in the game and they don't need to be that low for goods to sell. Importers exert downward price pressure in the reverse situation, when prices get too high. So maybe they are working.
As for communes, well the economic module itself is already in bad shape. I think we should see it as a means to an en😛 to supply food and weapons to our soldiers for fighting wars. I actually think that we should get as many Canadians into communes in order to maximize the weapons they produce worth their one (to five) work clicks a day.
higher work tax is the only way to stimulate the economy. The rest is just window dressing. Congress needs to come together in support of 20% work tax.
Patriotism begins with sacrifice. I am willing to put my money where my mouth is, I would think that both new and experienced players who want to support growth in eCanada would get on board and support this.
A few fake pennies in eRep can go a long way in funding eCanada's protection (or offensives).
Communes can be located outside of eCanada while the MU remains in eCan for lower wage and tax rates. Since MUs have no financial government support whatsoever, there are no incentives for an eCanadian MU to locate their communes within eCan-- MUs would not be using their infrastructure efficiently. Setting up the infrastructure alone (e.g. just upgrading to a Q7 weapons company) takes a lot of resources to begin with, and now you're asking MUs to continuously contribute more resources, i.e. pay more tax, for the benefit of the country.
Although we lose tax revenue from expatriating communes, eCan MUs are regularly fighting for eCan and her allies at no cost to our government.
I would imagine that there are actually very few communes here. The numbers just don't make sense.
The last few communes that I've been a part of have been located in Serbia for the bonuses. Anyone communing in Canada is doing it wrong, and probably deserves to fail.
