Mo' Bettah DoD Orders:

Hey, did you notice that the Department of Defense Orders is including a bit more background about the current military situation in their daily reports?

Yeah, itsafact: Not only should you vote up the DoD orders every day, but you should read it too!

Congress On a Roll?:

Enough interesting stuff has been going on with the new Congress that USWP PP LexLuthor1, who is well-known for his plans for world domination and destroying Superman1, got all giddy about it and posted an article called Congress is actually fun this month!

I am teasing Mr. LexLuthor1, of course. He wasn't giddy.

Candor has been elected Speaker of the House. And an interesting debate is underway on rules for active military personnel serving in Congress, as well as discussions on formulas for military funding.

Presidential Ambitions:

Speaking of elections, campaigning for the Presidential spot has started. Much to my personal chagrin, President Glove has elected not to run again. so the field has quickly been filled with aspiring nominees from various parties.

The most well-known names include Emerick, Henry Arundel/Pfeiffer, and Laxsnor. The other hopefuls include a fairly unorthodox set of personalities: Lefty from Mulberry St., George Pumpkinette, Pizza the Hut, Professor Oak and some guy who bears a remarkable resemblance to that fella who used to be the gardener at the White House.

May the best man win!

Pressing Matters:

There's been a good bit of complaining lately -- including some from yours truly -- over the meagre quantity of high-quality English-language items in our daily Press.

Luckily steps are being taken both by private citizens and government agencies to try to turn this around. In our last edition, we reported on Athanaric's generous endowment of a prize for promoting good new writers. The funding for that program has been received and work is underway to make it operational.

Meanwhile, some bright new stars are starting to make a name for themselves and some veteran players are paying renewed attention to quality writing. A few worth keeping your eyes on include:

- Rusty_Shackleford's Scoreboard Doesn't Lie, with its regular series on eRep in Maps.

- Gnilrap's 16 Shells. With its regular updates, its headline-ticker formats, and its series of interviews with CP candidates, this paper is quickly becoming a daily favorite judging by its rapidly increasing subscription base.

- Teucer's A Resolute Mind has long offered quality journalism and is, in fact, listed as one of the papers in the "billboard" of WHPR since Teucer publishes regularly about Department of the Interior programs. But citizen Teucer doesn't rest on his laurels. Check out his latest piece on.. yes, encouraging quality writing!: A Writer's Guide - Tools, Tips and Benefits.

If you have a favorite new writer that deserves more public attention, shout it out!

Warfare for the Common Man:

Citizen Kazeal's hard-working team of government interns has provided a fine public service by assembling detailed information relevant to an understanding of foreign affairs.

The first report summarizing their findings is A Study on Damage Outputs of the Three Alliances. It provides a breakdown of the relative strengths of the member-nations in NWO, EDEN and Terra.

Subsequent reports will focus on gold spent and number of citizens associated with the alliances.
