It's a big job, gentlemen... and it's gonna need a fine regiment. Our job is to make this the finest regiment that the United States ever saw. I needn't tell most of you that a regiment is something more than just six hundred disciplined fighting men. Men die. But a regiment lives on; because a regiment has an immortal soul of its own. Well, the way to begin is to find it. To find something that belongs to us alone. Something to give us that pride in ourselves that'll make men endure - and, if necessary, die... with their boots on. The USWP has confirmed my application to run for Congress August 25th, and has assigned me to run against Henry Arundel in Louisiana.
Henry published a campaign article; I'll save you a click and quote most of it here:
So, my last article got taken down...I guess. Seems I shouldn't call the voters names, despite meaning it in the most loving way.
I love you, Louisiana. I want to get deep inside of you, and never come up for air.

What kind of game do you play, what kind of players do you like to align yourself with?
What kind of country do you want to "live" in and play for?
What kind of leaders do you want, what kind of leadership do you expect of them?
What do I bring to the game?
Just a few intangibles.. maybe these are unimportant to some segments of the population, but they're important to me and I think to a lot of Americans.
Pride, Integrity, a sense of Fair Play
What have I got to be so Proud of?
I'm proud of my accomplishments, no matter how they stack up against others' but in and of themselves, because I have worked hard to achieve them.
I'll just let the Dictionary.com definition of Integrity suffice:
–noun 1. adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.
Fair Play..?
I've been in this game for around a year and a half, using the same game character. The only eRep Rule infractions I've been hit for were the publication of an RL culturally insensitive picture in the Army Times, and for calling the Huns "stupid" in a Comment to an article. I am not on my second or third game character, after being banned for stealing or multi-playing or just being blatantly disrespectful of other players.
These players who've made trolling me their pet project are Johnny-come-lately to me, I hadn't seen most of them around till I stepped on their toes recently.. by running for Congress, by being active, by offering opinions not in lockstep with their own, by pointing out and bringing to light the dirty tactics and low character that are the hallmarks of their own definition of Pride.
Frankly, I'm not impressed. I don't particularly care to have my country "led" by such players, no matter how well they know the game mechanics and how to manipulate or circumvent them.
The truth bears repeating:
Henry Arundel Day 996, 23:29even if you were to defeat MSTA (not likely), could we not just move in someone with more EXP than your other members to take over when you resign to run for Congress? Great idea, or Greatest idea?
Young Henry is an expert in game mechanics and political strategy.
Well, boys... the AMP has done it's usual 23rd of the month leadership shift a little early this month, so I was able to register as a candidate for Congress.. and you can expect a full on but fair and square campaign to win in Louisiana against Young Henry. I'm proud to have arranged for one of your favorite players, Alee Ann, to cover AMP Party President for me this week.
Look at the past couple of elections for a minute.
July 25 Congress; SEES puts GLaDOS in against me at the last minute, then criticizes me for running a serious campaign, then faults me for Ajay/Pizza's win in Chongqing.
August 15 Party President; SEES places Matthew Smith The awesomeness in the AMP to run against me, criticizes me for running a serious campaign, then faults me for Ajay/Pizza's success in the Republican Party and the near PTO of SEES by the Huns.
I'm told that these campaigns were set up "for teh lulz," then that when Emerick tells me there'll be no last minute sniping, even reputable players say that he's as honest as the day is long and I should believe him.
My answer.. if you have a candidate then you have a campaign, if it's a joke then pull the candidate and we'll all have a big laugh together. Emerick and I have shown that we can make fun of ourselves and our public feud, we more often show that this is dead dog serious business. To say "lighten up, it's just a game" on the heels of hardball tactics or personal attacks carries no weight with me, it's just not credible.
Again, I ask... what kind of players do you want to align yourself with? What kind of personal character do you want in players who represent you in Congress and to the rest of the eWorld?

PROTIP: They find your horribly disproportionate overreactions hilarious (Yes, mentioning them in every article, and saying they're going to snipe you is an overreaction). Don't be such a tool, and people like GLaDOS and MSTA won't run against you. inb4 overreaction.

The Admins allow players to create a new account once one has been banned and buying existing accounts is nothing new in games and is not against the rules. Feel free to pop in #SEES, there is usually an admin in there to confirm this.

On the first count, some members of S.E.E.S. said that. I do not recall seeing any official party communication along those lines. The closest to an official communication about the last congressional was my post on the eUS forums saying I found it unlikely that ATO was sending you votes. To be fair, this was because I give ATO more credit than that, not you. Beyond that, as I recall you are the one who threw a hissyfit at Gladdos running and threw yourself in against him, though I may be mistaken. Anyhow, everything a member of S.E.E.S. is not an official party communication. I've told you this time and time again, you've refused to believe it and been wrong time and time again. You've entered straw man territory. As for the PP elections, I have never seen anyone from S.E.E.S. or elsewhere express the opinion that Ajay's election is your fault. The worst part of this game is to see the many blatant lies that are thrown around and work simply because most players don't know better. Using our own ignorance as a tool is a despicable tactic.

"Official communications" or not, I was taken to task in Comments threads and in IRC for not "ordering my people" to vote for S.E.E.S. candidates, then blamed for the unfavorable election results. -|- Players move from Party to Party at will; Parties can't exclude members just as Countries can't deport and exile citizens. If Young Henry's views and behavior were as typical of the Federalist Party as yours are of S.E.E.S. I would be just as much up their collective asses as I am yours. -|- your arguments are getting longer as they become weaker, bud.. slow down, take a breath, tag off to another team mate, before you work yourself into a stroke.

I have not personally read or heard anything this Emerick guy has said. I have heard his name more than anyone else's in the game though. What I have heard about him, leads me to think is that he is some sort of dictator who controls the government without any official control (sort of like RL Putin of Russia, since we all know the current Russian president is just his stooge.) To pretend to call a government a republic when it is devoid of principles and when it is run by men behind the scenes, is a sick perversion of the word. You can call the USSR a republic all you want, its not true, you can call modern day Russia a republic all you want, its not true, you can call the United States a republic all you want, it very well may not be true.
At least Custer here is enjoyable to read and is arguably one of the best writers in the eUS simply out of his use of good rhetoric. He also takes things seriously, which is hard to say about most people these days.

anyone paying attention can clearly sees where this article started and where the Comments thread has taken us.. and pretty much how and why that has happened. sad state of affairs that whether I try to write an article of basic substance (simple announcement of candidacy) or even a benign declaration of accepted scientific fact (the sky is blue) we see the same disruptive forces making a shitfest out of it. I AGAIN refer to my previous statement: what kind of players do you want to align yourself with? I actually want to see you two duke it out this month it will be fun. But I expect to see you both in the ATO room to make sure that any US pto threats don't make it into office. A public fight where you throw stones at each other is fun and all but if need you need to put aside your differences for the good of the country. I don't just say this as the Federalist Election Coordinator and VPP of the Federalists. I say this as the ICE Director and it goes for all candidates. On the 23rd all political coordinators should be in #FEC and making sure we have blockers in every state. If we have no threats get through slug it out on the 25th and give me a front row seat. If there is a domestic threat and you guys slug it out I personally won't run either candidate next election.
I've been jammin' since Thursday night, all day Friday, and I'll keep pluggin', to provide blockers. FOLKS, blockers can get set up at their assigned state then leave to go vote or fight anywhere domestically, you're not stuck in Wisconsin or Chonqing or wherever once you're all hooked up.
